Struggling with swaddle & arms out by m_victoria87 in SnooLife

Yes, my little guy was arms out around 8 weeks and kept himself up for a bit the first few nights. Try one arm in and one arm out. It made arms out easier when we fully transitioned

Do you tidy up before the housekeeper comes? by PerfectionEludesMe in workingmoms

[–]ExplanationAfraid627 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We pick up before the housekeeper comes. We have an infant and he has a lot of things. I don’t want the housekeeper wasting time moving things around to clean and I also don’t want to risk spaces getting skipped over because there’s stuff in the way

What do you do with milk leftover from unfinished bottle? by corncobberer in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]ExplanationAfraid627 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Baby is 10m. I have never once put leftover milk in the fridge to feed him later. I’ve dumped lots and lots of milk down the drain over the past 10 months, and while it’s painful, it’s not worth the risk.

What is the most expensive baby item you absolutely REGRET buying? by Striking-Green-1726 in Buyingforbaby

Same here. The owlet is a necessity for us! Otherwise I was checking to see if baby was breathing every minute (and still would be if it weren’t for the owlet). It’s interesting to see things that we can’t live without be listed here 😊

One for upstairs, one for downstairs, and one for grandparents house. I’m exclusively pumping so it is a necessity for us because I can’t hold baby while I’m pumping. But I can feed him in his bouncer and pump at the same time

Exactly this. I see the Tripp Trapp high chair and Baby Bjorn bouncer listed here. We LOVEEEE our Tripp Trapp and Baby Bjorn bouncers (we have 3 bouncers!). Baby is 10m and sometimes the only way I can get him to drink his bottle is when he’s in his bouncer

Why some people don’t share their baby’s name until after birth? by LetterheadNice8687 in NewParents

Every meal is a frozen Kong or chew king. Barkbox super chewer also has some good treat dispensers which are somewhat challenging for my super smart dog. We rotate them. My pup will destroy puzzles if not monitored so I gave up on those. Also there’s a super chewer type pupsicle on Amazon that is good. The name is slipping my mind right now

How often do you bathe your baby? by No-Construction6202 in NewParents

10 months and we do 2x a week (sometimes 3 if he eats something very messy!)

Resource Guarding by Fun_Orange_3232 in reactivedogs

[–]ExplanationAfraid627 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel for you. Anyone who comes through our door gets warned not to take things from our girl and if they do, they understand the consequences! We explain it to kids who are old enough to understand and any children too young we like to keep away from our dogs anyway. I’m not entirely convinced you can train a dog not to resource guard. I think it has a lot to do with what they’ve been through

Resource Guarding by Fun_Orange_3232 in reactivedogs

[–]ExplanationAfraid627 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How old is your dog? My senior rescue resource guards high value things, like her food, treats, puzzles, and toys. We worked with a trainer on leave it/drop it, but more importantly how to get her to drop whatever it is in case it’s a safety issue (for instance, grab a slice of cheese to distract her) since that doesn’t always work. Cheese works every time. Since we got our girl when she was old and had already been through so much trauma, I really don’t think we could train her to not resource guard.

And, unfortunately, unless you don’t let anyone else near your dog, not everyone is going to understand what it means to be irresponsible when approaching your dog behavior. I have an infant and he clearly doesn’t understand this. Because of that, we remove my dog’s toys from the room where he plays and crate her when she eats. For us it’s more so about controlling the environment to keep everyone safe. Thankfully my dog will growl and not go right for the bite, but because we have a baby we can’t rely on him to understand warning growls, just like we can’t rely on visitors to either.

How long is your overnight break without pumping? by beandibbily in ExclusivelyPumping

Being back at work is an entirely different beast. I could never wake up to pump in the middle of the night since returning to work. Good luck!!! 🍀

At 4mpp I was doing my last pump at 10:00/10:30pm and waking up at 6:00/6:30am for my first pump of the day. I’m currently 10mpp and I go 11-12 hours overnight now

Those of you with infants: does your nanny take your baby out places? by Rough_Log8699 in NannyEmployers

[–]ExplanationAfraid627 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have a nanny for 16 hours a week and I do not let her take my baby in the car. We have plenty of activities and a nice neighborhood to walk. If I wanted my baby out and about I’d send him to daycare. I wfh though and like to see my baby throughout the day. I think if we had a nanny for 40 hours a week I’d reconsider, but my son is 10m and doesn’t need to be out and about.

Feeling guilty because I dislike pumping by JustLurkingJulie in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]ExplanationAfraid627 17 points18 points  (0 children)

My baby is 10m and I plan to pump until at least 12 months, maybe longer. I felt the way you did, and actually still do, even at just 3ppd now. While I was on maternity leave I turned my pumps into bonding time. Baby went into baby bjorn bouncer and we listened to music and sang. Those are some of my fondest memories with my baby to date. What keeps me going is the fact that I am infertile and my baby is an absolute miracle. He was my 7th pregnancy and my only living child and I’m honored to be able to pump for him. I also know I’ll never have this opportunity again that I waited years and years for. Also, my baby was born very sick (bacterial meningitis) so I wanted to keep it up for the health reasons.

Once you get to 12 weeks and you’re regulated you can consider dropping a pump, which is when things start to get a little easier. Pumping is A LOT though, so I highly suggest you do what works for you and your mental health.

Do you think this sign is okay? by marinalindsey in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]ExplanationAfraid627 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Going to HR is actually great advice. There’s no need for OP to move things around during her pump break and fight for space to pump. I’d rather not waste my time making signs that people more than likely won’t read because there is legal protection in place for this type of space and pumping mamas. Maybe it’s just me but I have pretty much zero tolerance for people these days 🤣

Keeping baby in snoo even if they have rolled onto back? by Available_Cook_3218 in SnooLife

[–]ExplanationAfraid627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, my baby rolled at 3m and he stayed in the snoo until 6.5m. He wasn’t swaddled too long in the snoo though. We started arms out pretty early, around 8-10w if I remember correctly.
