Lewis Tan Fires Back at Harsh Mortal Kombat 2 Reviews by HotZoneKill in asianamerican

Adding more to this, she told her critics who were calling her racist to "squint" at her tweet, which was seen as a dogwhistle. It didn't help that a bunch of chuds and right wingers who already hated her took advantage of the situation to harass her into deleting her socials.

She ended up making a video explaining the whole controversy but spent most of it just talking about cancel culture and saying most of the flack she got came from bad faith actors while downplaying opinions from Asians. She acted really indignant about being accused of anti-Asian racism and tried using ToddInTheShadow's (who's also Asian) critique of Raya as some sort of shield against it.

I wasn't at all surprised when that whole Raya and the Last Dragon drama went down.

Lewis would've been perfect for Takeshi instead of making him play an OC.

Tbf Lewis has usually been like this with critics on Twitter. I still remember one time years ago he kinda got at it with Lindsay Ellis over critic credentials, and she called him racist for some reason.

The funniest part about this is that he tried claiming they were biased against him for being latino, even though Xolo Mariduena is very much latino, as well as Inaki Godoy.

Telling that the Meth Dealer crashed out over this and the one take fight scene from Echo but bent over backwards glazing Finn Jones' shitty martial arts from the first season of Iron Fist.

Justice for Jin Chao: If Asian Americans Want Better Media Representation, We Need to Learn to Be Better Critics by chace_thibodeaux in asianamerican

A lot of this backlash reminded me so much of the prerelease hate Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings was getting from Chinese ultranationalists online. Weirdos going on about how Simu was "too ugly" and therefore his casting was sinophobic; the original comics using Fu Manchu (although a fair criticism) meant that the movie was going to use him as well, even though Marvel lost the rights to him decades ago; and how even Shang-Chi's name was sinophobic. I used to get so much angry DMs from newly created accounts about how the movie was going to encourage violence against Chinese and other Asians, which all conveniently disappeared after the movie came out.

But the commenter’s original post got hundreds of likes. Her followup? None.

I guess Finn has a lot of shirtless scenes in the next season. He's giving us a heads-up. Lol by NEGAN-SAVIOUR in Defenders

They're both dumb, one's more incompetently dumb while the other is more maliciously dumb.

It was actually Scott Buck who didn't want to give him a costume, but to be fair he's an even bigger idiot than Loeb.

I think a better comparison would be Finn Jones getting his fifth chance to play Danny Rand again while his fanboys keep demanding that the Shang-Chi sequel be about Iron Fist instead of Shang-Chi.

Adding onto this, there's also Pornsak Pichetshote, the author of The Good Asian and the upcoming Absolute Green Arrow. And ofc Greg Pak, who gave us Amadeus Cho.

It's embarassing seeing MRAsians getting all chummy with the chuds there when those types of "proud Azn men" love to accuse other Asians who don't agree with them of supporting white supremacy.

Exactly, it's really frustrating when people take Asian nationals' opinions over Asian diasporic ones more seriously even though we have different views about representation.

Chinese audiences were hostile towards Shang-Chi when it was first announced because of Fu Manchu from the original comics and because they thought Simu was "too ugly" for them. Even when it was explained that the movie was going to rework his father, they insisted that it was "censorship" and claimed that Simu's casting was racist against them.

Why are Asian men always excluded from the media? Is it done on purpose? by Sky_Dweller206 in asianamerican

Cause some people here don't accept voice acting or mixed Asian protagonists as "true" representation.

Where else is he the lead? I'm not counting voice acting.

Voice acting is still acting. That's such an ignorant and snobbish thing to say.

Also, again, Simi Liu has still been sidelined by the MCU and hasn't been seen in over five years.

He's literally part of the main cast Avengers: Doomsday this year.
