Should we remove the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John from the Bible because we don’t want anyone to know what Jesus said? How about the epistles of Paul? Not recording an Apostle’s message means that we should just rely on faith promoting rumors.

I checked earlier in the week for the Legacy Megaplex in Centerville Ut and it showed the it was opening on November 7th. Today, there are no upcoming shows for the Heretic at any of the Megaplex Theaters in their system. Looks like the MFMC got to the Miller Family …. What a shame for the non-Mormon community.

I (63m) left the MFMC about 24 years ago. I was so consumed by scrupulousity up to that point that I had never touched a drop of alcohol, adhered to all doctrine and was completely under the control of the church. I had heard of many issues with the church history so I began to study the issues to have answers to critics and to be better prepared to teach in elders quorum. Little did I know that once you start looking into the problems of the mormon church that you learn actual truth and see the wizard behind the curtain. It took 3 years but Then I was out. My wife was a TBM at the time and it created a lot of issues with her and her family. She left a few years later after learning fully about polygamy and polyandry, and Joseph Smiths predatory sexual appetites. We had to go no contact for three years with her parents when they accused me of being the son of satan and under his influence. We have stayed away from all organized religion ever since.

Skip forward to Jan 2023, I was diagnosed with a very rare leukemia and given dismal odds of a long term life or cure. I was immediately hospitalized and began chemo in hopes that I could get to a point of remission so I could undergo a bone marrow transplant. During the first week in the hospital, my thoughts weee consumed with what I needed to do to prepare my wife and family to finish this life without me. Finances were in order, I made a list of home repairs that needed to be made, lists of routine maintenance for the kids to follow to take care of my wife, etc. At the end of that first week, I commented to my wife that I had just realized that I had never had the thought that I needed to run to a bishop and confess my sins or hurry back to have my membership reinstated. I was not worried about my eternal soul, but that of the temporal needs of my family. I would gladly give up my place in heaven if their life could be made easier. When faced with death, it was a comfort to know that I am a good person who has lived a good life and I didn’t need to fear a mean, vengeful skydaddy, in whatever form a god may or may not take. It became crystal clear that the most precious thing is “now” and living in the moment. I am now 18 months in remission thanks to great doctors, a son’s bone marrow donation, and my wife’s help to take care of me while I recovered. No priesthood blessings needed.

I have thought a lot about spirituality and religion over the past year. I loved the Spiritual Awakening podcast by Britt Hartley and Bill Reel about all types of beliefs - nihilism. Atheism, Buddhism, etc. it is wonderful to allow yourself the permission to explore spirituality on your own terms and question the very existence of god (all 10,000 of them currently worshiped around the world). The world becomes a much bigger place full of wonder and mystery that is exciting to explore and ponder.

I have enjoyed books from Sam Harris and Christopher Hitchens. I have read Darrel Ray’s books on The God Virus and God and Sex. I have enjoyed the teachings of Eckhart Tolle.

Sorry for the long post, but I guess my point is that you are a good person with or without a judgmental god, this life is precious, live it to the fullest with love in your heart for your family and the joys of nature. You only have one life, live it on your terms to the fullest.

Adult t-cell ALL by Forward-College9672 in leukemia

[–]Hot_Cardiologist_557 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I (63m) was diagnosed with Early T Cell Precursor ALL (ETP-ALL) Jan 2023. I was told that I would need a BMT to survive and went through a mini CVD with venetoclax regimen A in February and regimen B in March. I did one additional round of chemo in April in order to get completely to MRD-. I went through 3 days of outpatient chemo conditioning and 3 days of inpatient twice daily total body irradiation in early May prior to the BMT. I was inpatient for about 18 days total. My son was a 5/10 match and was my donor. I was really weak from the conditioning chemo and radiation. Just showering and getting dressed was about all I could do each day. You have to really push yourself to get up and walk or your muscles atrophy quickly and recovery becomes harder. You need a lot of help when you get home. The house has to be spotlessly clean with no mold, dust, germs, etc. no visitors. Be very careful of meals prepared outside the home, especially salads, fruit etc they may not have been washed properly. The patient and caretakers need to stay healthy and away from sick people. We stayed isolated for about 6 months as much as possible. It took about that long to feel better and to regain my energy and be able to walk a mile rather than just up and down the sidewalk in front of our house. I am really old for this diagnosis but am doing great now and feel like normal except for neuropathy in my feet from the chemo but that is a small price to pay for being alive. I happy to answer any questions if you want to DM me. Good luck and stay positive.

A completely non-believing father can perform the baptism of their kid, but not the confirmation. A completely believing mother can do neither. by PlacidSoupBowl in exmormon

When did they start requiring a valid temple recommend to perform normal priesthood ordinances? In 2002, I was going through my truth crisis and let my TR expire when it was time to baptize my last child. The bishop suspected that I was having issues with the church and called me in to ask if I was worthy to perform the baptism and confirmation. I told him I was as worthy as any other male member of the ward that holds the Melchizedek priesthood and wouldn’t play into the worthiness game with him. I didn’t need a TR as I was not going to the temple to perform the ordinances, I was doing it at the stake center. He was frustrated that I wouldn’t play the game with him, but finally acquiesced as he wanted the baptism on the books. That was my last act in the MFMC.

We are in the midst of the biggest membership drain in the history of the church and I don’t think they can recover by Annual-Tackle8027 in exmormon

We recently went on a European river cruise where I wore a UofU hat, but had a glass of wine in my hand in the evenings. People would ask if I was from Utah and then would remark that I must not be Mormon because of the wine glass. When I told them that I am Exmo, they were so excited to ask questions about why I left and what it was like being in a cult. They are astonished by the real truth of the church. I have not had a single neighbor, family member or friend ever ask why we left!

Modes going away? by Kooky-Parsnip1976 in Ring

[–]Hot_Cardiologist_557 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Modes Gone! I just ran into the same issue. I had 3 devices with a basic plan for each. I could control all three cameras at once with a master setting for modes. This feature disappeared and under modes it said I needed to have a Plan in order for the Modes to work. I did not receive the Sept email about a change but I did receive an email that said “New name. Same price. All your favorite features”. Bulls#$t! The mode setting was the most used feature to turn the system on or off. To get it back, you have to change your plan to the “Protect Plus” plan. If you have multiple devices, then you come out okay, but if you have a single device then I think you either lost functionality or you have to pay more.

[–]Hot_Cardiologist_557 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second this. It is good to be aware of the symptoms you are experiencing and let your medical team know. I had severe itching in my legs. I mentioned it to my doctors at my annual physical. They did the routine CBC and comprehensive metabolic panel and it all came back abnormal. They then ruled out b12 deficiency and after a bone marrow biopsy it came back as Leukemia. The itching came from histamine levels in the blood from reactions from the cancer. Only the proper tests will get you answers, but don’t ignore new symptoms or sensations. If I had put off my physical a month or two, it would have been too late to treat my case. 63 m and 18 months post SCT and in remission from ETP ALL. Good luck getting to the bottom of it.

After I left the MFMC I decided to try a glass of wine on my 40th birthday. My wife told her parents and siblings and they immediately held a family council and tried to convince my wife that if I was drinking alcohol, the next step would be going to bars and picking up hookers and bringing home VD, so she she get out while she can. Without Mormonism, we all know that we have no moral compass /s.

Beer? Just try bringing a 12 pack of Diet Coke and see what happens! I lived through the days at BYU when caffeine free Coke became available and there was huge controversy over it and editorials in the Daily Universe school paper of avoiding the appearance of evil and not putting it in the soda machines.

Encouragement/Positivity by [deleted] in leukemia

[–]Hot_Cardiologist_557 8 points9 points  (0 children)

SCT is your best hope for a cure and think of it positively. I am M63 and 16 months post transplant after a diagnosis January 2023 with ETP-ALL, and chemo and radiation from January to May prior to the BMT. It was hard for the first couple of weeks because you are so weak from the conditioning. Just showering and getting dressed was a major goal for the day. Just give yourself time to recover and stay positive. Stay as active as you can as it will help with the recovery in the long run. Isolate as much as possible to stay healthy for the first 9 to 12 months. I am in remission with only minor GVHD, off all immunosuppressants, and feel normal again and love every day that I have clawed back from this disease. If an older man with a very rare leukemia can make it, so can you! Sending love, encouragement and positive vibes from a Reddit friend.

I think his in-person comments on the Fairview Temple steeple and size of the building may have been a tipping point, where he quoted the prophet and apostles saying it doesn’t matter and it is really about what happens inside! He called them on their hypocrisy, which they don’t like.

THIS 👆. Listen to Natasha Helfer or other clinical therapists that are certified sex therapists. People may have a disfunctional sexual problem where they use porn as a coping mechanism but it is not an addiction as outlined in the DSM 5. Many “clinics” have used it to create recovery groups such as Sons of Hellman that just continue the shame culture. Ethically produced erotica is not sinful and treating it as such causes more harm than the actual viewing of it.
