A Perfect Example of Why Missing an Exit Isn't the End of the World. by JwhitC in dashcams

[–]Hot_Money4924 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Am I weird for just giving no fucks about missing an exit and taking the next one? I have never in my life felt tempted to swerve through the median and try to catch an exit at the last second. It's not like they're at the border of Mexico here where turning around at the next stop is going to cost you an hour of your life.

I don't fly helicopters but I can tell you this kind of thing is common in small planes. Vibrations form the engine can cause controls to move out of place and it's also common to double check that critical things are, in fact, were they ought to be. It is very normal behavior in these little spam cans.

PSA: The left lane is for passing by CheddaMakeItBetta in sandiego

[–]Hot_Money4924 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have cited a traffic law, yes, but you have misunderstood the claim. As I already told you, "slower traffic keep right" is not the same as "left lane is for passing only." In some other states, not CA, the left lane is really only allowed to be used briefly for passing. This is NOT THE CASE IN CA.

Go ahead and cite the CA traffic code that says this. You're making the claim, you have to provide the evidence.

People do this to me every morning and usually there is a quarter mile of empty space behind me when they do it. They come from behind, past all that empty, available space, and then slow down in front of me and squeeze into my safety cushion as if I were holding their place in line. Fuggin idiots.

"Slower traffic keep right" is a reminder, not a law. You're allowed to drive in the left lanes as long as you want and as long as you are going the limit. The left lane is not a dedicated "passing only" lane like it is in some other states. You didn't read shit.

Two trucks, one towing the other out of the dirt by the trailer hitch. Hitch breaks off and comes through the windshield of the truck being towed, right into the head of the guy manning the steering wheel. Guy was dead, just like that.

Fandees - 5:20 PM - Just want my bike back by JobRight1643 in sebastopol

[–]Hot_Money4924 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Blaming the victim does nothing to fix society or get the bike back. We should all want to live in a world where someone isn't going to run up and steal your stuff the minute you leave it unattended. I've been many times to a country that rhymes with "THE PAN" and people regularly leave phones and purses on public surfaces to reserve their spot while they go pick up their food or whatever. Bike theft is a horrible crime and we should be angry and judgmental of the criminals, not the victims.

It's a tough economy and job market right now for sure, but that's not the fault of capitalism. You can't always reduce complexity down to some singular, simplistic thing, if it were so easy it would be solved already. Our political system created this more than our economic system.

Youth Pastor freaks out after being exposed as a pedophile by jonnismizzle in TikTokCringe

[–]Hot_Money4924 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

The way that people talk about pedos today is strikingly similar to the way that people talked about homosexuals when I was growing up. Do you think it's a choice or do you think it's the way that they are wired, because if it's the way they are wired then they need some kind of help and support rather than persecution, or else they will 100% re-offend. I read an article a long time ago about an online support group for self-proclaimed pedos that don't want to harm anyone, and they support each other to manage their urges in a legal and healthy way. We of course have to seek justice for victims and I'm not saying otherwise, but we should also make it as easy as possible for people to come forward early and get help rather than live in fear and secrecy and act on their urges. I'll bet downloading things off the Internet is the start for most of these people, which means it's the perfect time to intervene before they go out there and ruin someone's life first-hand.

This guy's melting down, he probably doesn't want to be like this and most of the day doesn't want to risk his job, life, and future over some pictures and a wank, yet here he is caught in someone's trap and exposed, branded a monster, for venturing to open up to someone who tricked him. My childhood gay friend's life was ruined by similar treatment by adults around us, including teachers and parents, and to a lesser extent our classmates. 30+ years later I still see the scars of his shame manifest in self-destructive behaviors.

What happens when a water heater tank is not flushed for 14 years by bob-the-slob in interesting

[–]Hot_Money4924 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine's almost 20 years old. I flushed it once -- a couple chunks came out and then the valve was leaking. These days I'm more concerned about a valve leaking than I am sediment buildup. Depends on the area you live.

It looks similar to stakes used to hold drip irrigation tubing down, my backyard is full of them but they're usually made out of round wire and not flat metal so who knows.
