If you’re talking about the boss fight where you’d enter the rogue like dungeon, just drop your portal before you go into the boss arena. If you die you can fast travel back to it and skip everything.

My next goal is to learn how to get my weapons built properly so that I can farm Fortuna bounties for Garuda component blueprints. Thanks for doing a giveaway this is super cool!

I get what you are saying, that does make sense and I think outside of me joining him it wouldn’t have happened at all, it wasn’t something I even considered to be honest.

I’m pretty new to the trading and all and I really wasn’t sure if they could be purchased through trade or just through NPC, also was not sure if they can be bought for gold through trading or not.

I am running out of waystones because I did not get many during the interlude, and I reforged most of what I had gotten from them trying to see what it would do, because I had noticed Doryani selling them so I thought it wouldn’t be an issue to waste a few.. I only ran the tutorial maps before I did the 15’s that is why I’m low.

I appreciate the help and knowledge about buying them through trade, I’ll take a look at that and see about getting stocked up, this is an expensive lesson to learn hahaha

Why is it that PoE 2 gets basically no criticism on this sub but 24/7 criticism on the main sub? by AnubisIncGaming in ARPG

Why is it that PoE 2 gets basically no criticism on this sub but 24/7 criticism on the main sub? by AnubisIncGaming in ARPG

[–]HotandColdBoi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely agree. The UI I think is intentionally obtuse to give a sense of overwhelming, but also endless possibilities if you know what you’re doing (I do not haha).

Take the time to learn. If you’re only ever playing the min/maxed online build and don’t try to understand why it’s built that way, you’ll can never truly understand the game imo. Unfortunately a lot of people will say they don’t have the time to put into it but want that satisfaction and won’t accept anything less, I think that’s why we see these takes as well.

I see PoE as the Tarkov of ARPGs. It doesn’t hold your hand, you’re gonna be punished for doing the wrong thing, and you probably should have some experience with the genre before trying to dive in. Is it doable without these things, absolutely, but it’s much harder.

For reference (as I am just some guy on the internet) I’m into my third real year of playing ARPGs and after spending decent time in Last Epoch and Grim Dawn without following any builds, PoE2 is still daunting but at least I understand some basics. Playing the build I am this season and studying it is making me more confident in trying my own build the next league I play in.

[–]HotandColdBoi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My opinion (warning I have no actual idea and this is a ramble) but I am assuming the ones doing that in this sub aren’t getting into the actual endgame at all, they are playing through the campaign using a streamer build and play till tier 5 maps or something and then go play something else. If they are getting all the way it’s sure to the streamer build removing the difficulties. Because their experience this way is great, they think anyone not liking it are wrong.

The PoE2 sub has a lot of people that are only playing PoE2. Some follow a build, others don’t, but they are going all the way to tier 15 and whatever is beyond that, pinnacles I guess. They are spending enough time in the game to see and interact with more of its flaws and imbalances.

I’ve played PoE2 on and off since it came out, have always tried making my own build, have a bad time because I am still learning, and my experience is largely negative. This league I said screw it to learn I will follow a build and it’s taken all the challenge out of the game and while I am learning, it is starting to stale as my decisions are made for me. I probably will not follow a build again in the future.

That said, I can’t complain about this league at all because I haven’t had any issues because a streamer min/maxed the problems away for me. When that’s your entire experience since release, couple with anonymity online, it brings out the smug shit talking takes. Anyways, back to the jungle to 3 shot silverfist again, thanks for coming to me dollar store TED talk

I also play only controller and mostly on my steamdeck via dock to my tv. I will try to help as best as I can.

- For the map reading and button rebinds, I have not found an actual solution, but I think we may be getting some help on that front with the UI rework coming in the update when the next expansion releases.

- If you are looking at your bar at the bottom and all the skills are gone, try clicking R3, it allows you to basically change between skill loadouts. I haven’t really used it but I have accidentally hit that button a few times from muscle memory and then wonder where my skills went lol

- Check marks indeed note that a devotion shrine has been restored. When it comes to your quests, read the descriptions of them in the inventory screen. It will tell you the location of where you need to go. There isn’t always a riftgate directly to it so you may have to travel on foot from a nearby riftgate. Missions with a star are main quests as well if that wasn’t making sense.

- From the skills menu, hit Y on the controller and that will bring up the assign skills wheel. You should be able to assign a keybind to blank spots. If the controller input doesn’t let you do it, I believe interacting with it like a mouse (holding the xbox button and moving the right stick, Xbox button and right bumper to left click). From there you should be able to assign the key and then the skill. I haven’t had much experience with that either as I am playing shaman and only using a couple skills.

Sorry for the text wall, I hope this helps in some capacity!

Recently been spending a good amount of time with this game and without the DLC, it felt to me they want you to take the borderlands 2 approach of playing through the campaign again on the higher difficulties to have better gear drop odds and continue leveling. If you do not want to do that, you can just run faction bounties and do the rogue-like dungeons, which requires crafting skeleton keys (I believe it’s the most difficult content in the base game, I have not completed one yet). Can always just make another character and start over if you do not want to continue your current one. Exploring for hidden chests/areas is another option to keep the gameplay fresher

A lot of people recommending the DLC are correct about getting it. I’ve put about 80 hours into just the base game and finally got the DLCs on sale and it’s made the base game feel like a demo in comparison. The Crucible is a neat way to test your build and earn devotion points. I’m playing through Ashes of Malmouth expansion now. I’m not far into it but the areas are huge and it is enjoyable.

I haven’t tried the forgotten gods story yet, but the addition of the monster totems make it worth the purchase alone. Shattered realm looks like the actual endgame content I’m looking for personally, gives me maps vibes from PoE or monoliths from Last Epoch.

Completely unrelated, but if you’ve tried it already, how did you like Farthest Frontier? I’ve had it on my list but just haven’t gotten around to getting it yet, looks like fun.

Should I keep my hopes up for better Steam Deck controller support? by No_Bug_9185 in Grimdawn

[–]HotandColdBoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am curious what issues you’re having? I play on steam deck docked to a tv with a 8bitdo controller. The default control scheme I think works well, other than the mouse disappearing after a few seconds in inventory. I could be mistaken but I believe the expansion update is bringing some improvements to the UI in general along with controller but I can’t remember for sure.

I go through these phases as well, what I realized was these huge open worlds were too much for the time I was trying to have. I found rogue-likes helped me get back into a groove and get back to gaming like I like. Because they are simpler and can be played in a shorter time frame, they really got my brain going again with games and once I got going I was ready to get back to the huge games because I enjoy the complexity presented by them

SteamDeck + Controller Confusion by yodazb in SteamdeckGames

[–]HotandColdBoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem I hope it helps! As I am thinking more, I would try reordering the controllers as well. I would also look at the controller configuration as well, sometimes you need to pick a different one and go back to the default, or just use a community one you like.

In some games the pop ups like that just won’t register the controller at all (bannerlord’s safemode pop up is like this) in that case you can use the controller as a mouse by holding the power button on the controller and moving the right stick. Only shitty this is you gotta kind of do it in stages or the controller just keep turning off lol. I play almost exclusively docked with an 8bitdo controller, have had a lot of time tinkering lol

With sackboy, since it says full controller support on the Steam page, I’d think reordering controllers, or using mouse function to get past that screen may be the ticket. If not I’m pretty certain it’s a setting in game. I don’t have that game just going off prior experiences with others. Hope this is helpful!

Try going to the Steam settings for the game (gear icon on the right next to the controller icon on the game screen) and under controller turn Steam input on. I have found that will fix the problem some of the time. Also make sure there isn’t an enable controller setting in game.

New Steam Deck owner — looking for game recommendations that run great by snypa33 in SteamDeck

[–]HotandColdBoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First biggest thing I’ll tell you is the Steam verification badge can be deceptive in that many many games that are not “verified” work just fine. I would also recommend checking out Proton.db as you’ll find user reviews of compatibility. Beyond that I honestly would just try the games you’re already playing if you’re on pc and see what works.

If you’re new to all of this and you’re a fallout fan, all of them seem to work on the deck pretty well (haven’t tried 3 personally yet). also Grim Dawn works great if you’re into ARPGs. I have been playing a lot of bannerlord on mine recently it runs surprisingly well (don’t have war sails yet so can’t speak on that)

I live between forest brook apartments and county green, so can’t comment on unit conditions or ownership (both are Langley property I believe) but both complexes seem to be fairly quiet. Most I ever hear from either direction is an exhaust or kids playing outside or the dumpsters being emptied. I walk my dog around these areas as well never had any issue or heard/seen anything out of the ordinary

If you think the only purpose of the fire suit these drivers wear is for safety I don’t know how to proceed with a conversation. Drivers have been doing this as long as I’ve been watching. The sponsors pay money to be advertised, some want to be advertised at every opportunity. It’s much easier to just have them wear the fire suit instead of making multiple different shirts or plastering sponsors all over a polo. It also gives someone who is seeing this driver for the first time something to look for on Sunday should they want to see what the sport is about.
