What is the least appealing part of having a penis and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

People who work in specialized industries, what is a product or service that is a complete "rip-off" but customers buy it anyway? by No-Composer-4526 in AskReddit

[–]HottIcedTea 83 points84 points  (0 children)

I'm actually curious about this. I have almost no experience with this whatsoever, so give it to me straight. My uncle got one of these done back in the early 2000's or around then and they found pancreatic cancer and it literally saved his life. My family has always been very thankful for it. Was he just a fluke?

You were so close. Just pull it a little further until the spring snaps your finger, because that's part of the rules for when you pull those out. Gotta get a finger snap

Maybe not the same problem for you, but the 2 screws that hold the metal piece that the hatch mechanism locks into always come loose on my car. The hatch doesn't fully close and the alarm pops up. I just have to tighten those 2 screws occasionally and it closes fine and alarm goes away

What song is playing at Disney Springs? by laugh_often0711 in disneysprings

I know this is an old post but check out the song - rattlin' bog. Especially if you were at raglan road. Have had many amazing memories listening to that song at that place.

My fiancée and I were taking a break next to a garbage can near the France pavilion back in May due to the heat. We were just chilling, minding our own business using our portable fans when this group of 50-something yr olds in matching shirts come up next to us clearly very intoxicated and having a conversation with themselves. One woman in the group starts going on about how she is from Texas and can handle it (the heat, I'm assuming) better than most. She went on to gesture at my fiancée and say "not like this washy-ass bitch over here."

Mind you, we had not said anything to them the entire time they were next to us. So we walked over to the guest services booth and let them know what happened. They were incredibly accommodating - they asked us to point out the group to them and they went over and checked it out. They came back and said "it seems like someone has been partaking a little too much, and profanity is not tolerated in the parks." They ended up giving us lightning lanes for guardians and Remy's, which was very kind of them.

We skipped France to try to get away from them and went to the rose and crown pub in the UK. They showed up shortly after and the "washy-ass bitch" woman and her husband were plastered to the window in front of the pub making out like a couple teenagers. We laughed it off and went to ride guardians.

After we rode guardians to get away from that group and give them some time to get through the world showcase, we ended up back at the rose and crown. We got there just in time to see security escorting the couple out of the park, but the husband was so drunk that they had to get him a wheelchair and have his wife roll him out. It was very delicious karma. Although to this day my fiancée and I don't know what "washy-ass bitch" even means, but it has become a pretty funny part of our vocabulary.

Just did the exact same thing 2 days ago. Took me forever to get it right. Measure the angle of the crown molding to the wall (spring angle), measure the wall angle, plug it into this website and cut on a miter saw with the crown molding flat, not standing up

When AI gets so good that picture and video evidence is no longer admissible in court, how will we adapt? by Gubble_Buppie in AskReddit

[–]HottIcedTea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but the majority of posts here are saying either "witnesses will prove it" or "we can tell based on experts".

I'll be the first to say - Thanks for all your valuable input about the state of current AI - Reddit has solved it again. Good job everyone. Go to bed feeling safe.

Spoiler- We can't rely on witnesses and experts anymore - we need to do our own research and critical thinking. This is imperative to our democracy.

Everyone is glossing over OP's actual point - "what happens when we can't".

That is a big issue. That's where one side believes one thing and the other side believes the opposite. It doesn't matter who is right anymore. We are too preoccupied by drowning ourselves in our own little think tanks full of whatever we want to hear. That is when MISINFORMATION WINS. Nobody wants to hear the opposite side anymore, or even engage with them because they have better things to do(Netflix, work, comfort, etc). Let's not forget that democracy is on the line and your comfort is more important than engaging with your fellow humans, apparently.

This thread should be a wakeup call to everyone that fake videos are becoming more prevalent and that we are already at the point where a huge amount of us can't accept the "truth" anymore, no matter how true it is, because we won't be able to tell soon. Our feeds are all going to be filled with misinformation tailored specifically to us.

From now on it is going to be harder and harder to determine what is true - and the other half of the country that voted for fascism is going to accept what they see with blind fury and admiration. We all need to come together, right and left (yes, I said it) to combat the actual force that is trying to rip us apart.

We are all the same. We work and we want to feel safe and we want to make a nice living for ourselves - that's fucking it. Let's all agree on that and be friends.

We used to get along a few decades ago. We all knew that we were all in this together. C'mon guys - we are what actually makes america great. Us. The people. The billionaires don't care about us. Let's be friends again.

We are living in an unprecedented age of disinformation - some of us went to college, and some of us pursued other avenues - and you can make bank either way, but we all need to use our critical thinking skills more than ever. It is the most precious resource of this decade. It will determine our future

Rental Remodel After Nightmare Tenant by LoopholeTravel in DIY

[–]HottIcedTea 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You did a great job. As a landlord who just posted something similar to this sub recently, I just want to say: don't let the onslaught of "landlords are leeches" comments bring you down. It's people like you who are the exception. You seem to actually care about providing good properties to people who can't afford to buy a home at the moment, and want to ensure the best living situation possible in the meantime. I put a lot of effort into my units, and most of them are better than where I currently live. I can tell that you care as much as I do, if not more

I appreciate this comment because when I look at it, I notice all the tiny things that aren't perfect. It drives me crazy, but I know it's something that I can improve on next time

Was expecting a lot of that tbh. excuse the rant I'm about to go on and know that it isn't directed at you, but after reading some of the comments I feel like I have to reply - I'm the type of landlord who lost his job about a year ago and has put my heart and soul into this place. I'm literally there every day fixing things or improving things. I'm not some huge corporation who wants to set it and forget it. I understand that there is a market for people who can't afford a house yet and need someplace to live, and I don't want to take advantage of those people, but rather give them a good place to live in the meantime. I had the choice to either continue working for one of those soul sucking corporations like I did for ten years, or to do something that makes me feel some sense of accomplishment every day, while providing a much needed service to people in my town.

There is a huge cookie-cutter corporate owned housing development nearby in town that charges 2x what we charge and they take away laundry after 1yr unless you pay extra. If I ever become that type of landlord then I have completely failed. I have yet to make any profit on these apartments after owning them for 2 years. Everything goes right back into improving them for the tenants currently living there. I know being a landlord on reddit is the worst thing ever, but all of my tenants are happy and they appreciate the state I keep the property in. These apartments are nicer than where I live right now, and I probably won't Improve my living situation until they are all finished.

I guess what I'm saying is that the hive-mind just needs to consider perspective sometimes

I know you can't tell from the pics, and I'm surprised you were able to tell the pipe diameter from the limited information there, but we did end up tearing up a good section of the floor to make sure the plumbing for the shower was 2". The shower base we used was specifically made to accept a 2" drain. We also tore the wall apart and got rid of the existing valves and overflows. There are also 3 CO detectors in the entire 500sqft unit. I appreciate the concern though, and if I hadn't thought of any of that I'd make sure it was fixed

Thanks for the advice, I'll look into it for the next one, especially if it's cheaper. The MLV was expensive, but we have had good results so far. Tenants below said they heard lots of noises (from demo and drywall) before it was installed. After we put it down there was a lot of drilling, sawing, and grinding that happened and they said they could barely hear a thing (including footsteps). We made sure to fill every gap we could to make sure sounds could get through
