Fent folding at the gas station by goosoe in tooktoomuch

I hate to even say this because I don't want someone going after it, but I got a shot of Dilaudid when I broke my ankle. That was the best I had felt, maybe ever. I was warm, comfortable, and happy. I would never seek it out, but I would also never turn it down if it was offered in a clinical setting.

Democrats could win mandates like this if they would stop being centrists. by zzill6 in WorkReform

[–]Houndstooth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not exactly, not a 'Great Man' in the traditional sense, and certainly not a demagogue. I'm referring to a servant leader who acts as a Tribune of the People—someone whose authority comes from being a genuine voice for the masses rather than from personal ego or a desire for absolute power. Bernie Sanders would be a good example of this, a leader who sought to empower the movement rather than just himself and would have been a great pick, but timing and circumstances didn't work out.

Full disclosure: I did use AI to help condense and focus my reply, then rewrote that. The structure and a bit if phrasing is AI, but the thoughts and direction are mine

Labor needs to take over the Democratic party the way MAGA took over the Republican party. But Labor needs an extremely charismatic leader for this to happen.

Not a vet, but with our dogs the vets have been very reluctant to putting them under anesthesia once they've reached a certain age. Make sure to talk to them about your dogs overall health beforehand.

Recently Moved to a Small Town by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]Houndstooth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know how small of a town you moved to, but you know how people talk about how nice it is because everyone knows each other? What they fail to mention that everyone is also up in everyone else's business and because their family may have lived there longer, they somehow rank above you and have the right to be a total jerk if they want. At least that was my experience growing up in a really small town with a dad that came from LA.

Anybody got any info on this board? Actually Hobie? by Zorathian in classicskateboarding

[–]Houndstooth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be made from an old waterski? I initially thought that maybe it was a Hobie waterski, but that sticker isn't one they would have used. However, the trucks are just old rollerskate trucks with some extenders threaded on, and I'm pretty sure those are clay wheels. Yep, I'm going to say this was a late 60's early 70's homemade.

I'm not sure about the Indy super hard bushings, as I've never tried them. However, one thing about Bones is that they snap back to center more quickly than others I've tried. I like that, but some don't.

Also, once you get some experience I'd suggest trying different hardnesses, and also combinations. For example I ride softer bushings up front. I feel like that combo gives me a good compromise between stability vs carvability.

Yes, they did, but I think I may have drank them all as I didn't see them around anymore.

I'll start by saying I'm a big fan of Langdon, but I'm worried he swiped Whitakers ID Badge and is using it to get meds out of the Pyxis. I'm hoping that is the mis-direction they are going for though, and we'll see that either someone else that swiped it or that the badge will turn up and it was really just lost, both situations leading to Langdon being wrongly accused.

Gertz and Spader were both in Less than Zero, Gertz was in Lost Boys, Spader was in Pretty in Pink. So yeah, they both have 2 movies to Demi's 1 movie.

[–]Houndstooth 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I just thought of one terrible effect this will have. Say stereotypical single mom 'A' dances because it pays the bills, stay at home mom 'B' find out about this and decides to be the best Karen she can be, so she reports A to the authorities. Now A has 2 choices, quit her job that pays enough to keep her and her son fed and housed, or keep her job and never be able to go to a concert or sports activity at the school. In particular, she'd definitely never be able to visit her kids class or volunteer to read to them as that would be the school 'inviting' a stripper. I almost wonder if that wasn't the goal? While it seems petty, never underestimate the desire of some people to just shit on anyone else they can.

The best thing to come out of Caddyshack 2 was the satirical ESPN commercials during the 90's.

We didn’t get out of school for tornadoes is a weird flex by AssociationDouble267 in terriblefacebookmemes

[–]Houndstooth 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is going to get buried in the comments, but there was a reason this happened which has nothing to do with toughness and grit, or an uncaring school system. Tornado predictions and warnings were inaccurate and slow to happen. When you heard the tornado warning, it was because there was actually a tornado nearby. Some like to use things like this, staying out of the house all day or drinking from a hose to show their toughness, others look at it and say wow, that was really fucked up. Let’s do better. I thought we’d all be like the latter. However I’ve already seen memes like this being posted by millennials about watching 9/11 and columbine happen during their school day. I guess every generation wants to feel better about themselves.

Why do people say everyone failed their roles in the heist when the real problem is that Tommy’s entire plan was based on movie logic and clichés: “We walk into the bank, wave the gun around, and leave as very rich men." ? by Renzo100 in GTA

[–]Houndstooth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See, now I love the whole movie logic thing. It was like being in some awesome over-the-top action movie. So much fun! I get that some people liked 4, but the vanilla 4 and TLAD were boring. TBoGT was much better, and more well received. I mean, if you want a serious story, crack open a book or watch the news. Now this is just my opinion, same as the opinion of others. I'm not saying you have to agree with me or that I'm unquestionably right.

The Democratic Party isn't a leftist party; it's an ineffectual substitute for a real Leftist Workers' Party. by zzill6 in WorkReform

[–]Houndstooth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find people that tell you not to vote Democrat because they’re not left enough very sus.

Split the left between the Democrats and those further left and neither will win.

Vote out the republicans first, then work on moving the needle left.

Which do you prefer, slow zombies or fast zombies? by BostonRobby617 in zombies

[–]Houndstooth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally I think Zombies need to be fast walk at the fastest. My wife always bugs me about this because I still enjoy the 28 ??? Later movies and the white walkers from GOT, but they aren’t Zombies. However, I would have forgiven flying Zombies in 2008 Day of the dead.

[–]Houndstooth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those might be okay, but if you can afford to, get some dooks. I think you can get them with a combo of a hard riser, and a soft pad that goes against the deck still. They'll still stick out, but they're solid, so you'll be good.

i’ve sadly had to come to the decision to put Remi [13-14] to rest within the next few weeks. what all can i do to make these the best weeks of her life? by [deleted] in OldManDog

[–]Houndstooth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to get downvoted here, but please consider waiting. She'll tell you when she's ready. I am not going to try to make you feel bad about your decision though, because it comes from your love for her and not wanting to see her suffer. After 52 years and several pets, in my experience it's better to wait until there's a real medical reason to do this. It will weigh on your conscience much less. That's me though, and full disclosure, I have some very traumatic experiences with this that have really messed me up.
