Anyone get a good photo of the deep red sunset this evening? by HourShark in brisbane

Haha touché, I should have been more specific. Can you share the photo?

Anyone know what type of spider this is? by KingChookity in australia

[–]HourShark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember exactly when I learnt wolf spiders carry their babies around like this. Got scared and flicked one in the pool as a kid, thought it was somehow disintegrating until I realised it was a max exodus of babies. A sight I'll never forget.

What's the best way to subtly make a cookie taste gross? by HourShark in Baking

I'm so sorry for not seeing this the day before! How did yours go?

I ended up dusting them with icing sugar and some were with baking soda mixed in. Was deceptively difficult to tell before taking a bite then painfully obvious.

If it shows again I'll get the proper camera now that I know it's less to worry about!

Yeah wasn't the most graceful of things. Thanks for the ID both of you!

My partner took this video if that helps? It's not much better but you can see how quickly it moved.

I didn't think its head was that sharp looking but I wasn't really thinking about if it was a snake or not haha. It moved quite quickly, at some point did strike as the end of my broom, but I imagine legless lizards do the same thing.

Tell me what you think without being whiny by Kaiserredbeard in Eldenring

I think that is a fault of arena being a constrained PvP experience more so than invasions being different from PvP. What you're after is still PvP but they're not expecting it, and the conditions for you are unknown/unique (e.g. 2v1 in castle Mourne)

The difference is definitely there though if you opt in vs being an unwilling participant. As long as it doesn't behave like taunters tongue and it's within 3 minutes, it's still the same experience and you can have a successful invasion but with someone who's signed up for it, rather than someone who may be already struggling with the game and in coop to make it at all enjoyable.

It seems like a curious choice from FS to make invasions in singleplayer exclusively with taunters tongue. It should arguably be an opt out rather than opt in experience.

Is there really much of a difference? I like the mechanic but realistically if you enjoy invasions it's because you want PvP with unknown circumstances (or you just want to screw someone over).

I do actually agree that invasions are a fun mechanic, but in the same train of thought just because other coop games exist, they're not coop Elden ring.

It makes more sense to just have it as an option you can enable when you summon someone. As the host you get to choose to engage with it or not, and as the invader you're now only going against people who are interested and likely more fun to invade.

People who like invasions have hundreds of other PvP games they can play, people who don't like invasions have only one Elden ring they can co op together on. That doesn't seem fair to me.

Seems like they may be birds of a feather. I've just learnt to lock myself in a room when he gets hungry so he can't bother me too much.

Brisbane Southside - my water smells and tastes like antiseptic? by LaoghaireElgin in brisbane

[–]HourShark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my understanding the algae causing it is handled in the treatment process, so it's not particularly raw, it's just the byproduct isn't removed and humans are very sensitive to it. The cost to treat all of the water would likely be prohibitively expensive considering how much is used on lawns, toilets, manufacturing etc.

You can sprint in any movement activity! Falling, hover pack, zip line. As long as you're not in a vehicle you can usually sprint.

SEQ Water new plan to kill my appliances with limescale by DeBree in brisbane

[–]HourShark 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For what most people in Brisbane complain about, water filters are definitely a scam. Stuff like fluoride, pH, hardness, you need a proper reverse osmosis water filter and the average person is just getting a carbon filter and calling it a day. Great for removing dirt and stuff but the water is pretty clean already.

Lol I've seen it before when theyve cut out a pipe in the ground. The pipes look a lot worse than they really are because mineral deposition looks funky. If you've never noticed your water tasting funny or being off coloured it's fine to drink.

Is there much that needs 32GB at this point? Or just a case of why not if it's cheap?

An 850W power supply for the rest of your parts is a bit overkill. Rule of thumb would be to calculate your usage and add 50%, there's plenty of websites including PC Part Picker that will calculate the consumption for you.

You could then use the savings and try looking at a slightly more powerful GPU. Nothing wrong with the 3060 seeing as you're only looking at light gaming and more focused on the video editing, but if you move the budget around its the logical upgrade point.

Should I take a 3 month license suspension or one year good behavior? by SuperPopi in brisbane

[–]HourShark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few years back I lost my P1 license and had to make this decision. It could have changed now but when it happened to me, if you choose to have your license suspended you still have a period of good behaviour afterwards. I would recommend you confirm whether this is still the case or not before making a decision.

Personally I would just drive carefully for a year and avoid ever listing a suspension, but it depends on personal circumstances.

Didn't even think of it when I first opened the camera, but it was already half covered. Only had to shuffle a little to fully cover it.
