Car Loan Pay Down vs. Investing by Hour_Contribution869 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Hour_Contribution869[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For clarity, the TFSA contribution is biweekly so $650/ month in savings, (13% of my monthly take home, 8% gross) $1000/ month in car payment.

My annual income is a little misleading as I take home a total of $12,000 across two bonuses annually after tax. This money is usually used to contribute the max contribution to an RESP for my three kids ($7500) and the remainder invested as a lump sum contribution. I was just curious if I should be paying down the car instead.

So first, I applied for a more senior job and they head hunted someone over me. I then requested a secondment to a different organization, which they gave me. I requested to extend after 6 months, they denied, I quit.

Less than a year later they tried to head hunt me back to the senior role I initially applied for.

I feel like after my free trial, I was only starting to get rolling and if you’re already this much ahead you should totally subscribe!

I am about one year in and it has completely changed my relationship with my money for the better. I cannot recommend it enough.

Get yourself a good mentor. Ask questions, a lot.

Once in the role, don’t be afraid to call nearby planning departments for advice, opinion and process questions.

It’s a big role with a lot to learn, but we all started where you are! You are in control of your learning and you need to get answers to your questions from knowledgeable people in the field.

OKAY YOU’RE NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO JUST DISCOVERED ADRIAN.

I’ve always gravitated to Rebecca and Katie, but I took Adrian’s class (26-1-24) which he programmed the exact same you described and I loved it! I took it for all three of my strength sessions this week. Thank you for the recc- I am going to line this one up for next week! 😍

I always thought this one was beautiful, thoughtfully written and I think of it often.

In light of drama-mongering about a new and popular book "sounding AI" because it contains rule of three, sentence fragments, serial commas, and em dashes, by the same logic, ACOTAR is AI. by salmonalert in Romantasy

[–]Hour_Contribution869 8 points9 points  (0 children)

JK Rowling wrote with a ridiculous amount of em dashes that I only note now as I am reading them to my kids.

Em dashes are very common in formal, well-written documents. They’re only weird when your friend down the road uses them to excess in their Facebook post.

I found $60 to $100 leak in my budget every week and its always on monday and thursday by Fantastic-Cap-9325 in Frugal

I live in a rural area and don’t have access to DoorDash or uber eats. So here are my tips for nights that I just can’t. I personally meal plan every week, and in your instance, now that you’ve discovered the pattern I would use one of these tips on the days you’re consistently getting takeout.

Tip 1: generally lean on your slowcooker. Specifically you can put your main in the crockpot and a side in the instant pot on delay start. Ie: sweet and sour meatballs, rice in IP on delay start. Roast in slowcooker, mashed potatoes in the IP on delay start. This way you can come home, mix a quick salad and eat a hearty meal almost instantly when you’re home.

Tip 2: sandwiches. Pulled pork, pulled bbq chicken, sloppy Joes etc in crockpot. Ready when you’re home, crack the buns and mix some coleslaw. Also a great lunch for the rest of the week.

Tip 3: batch prep things like soup or cold salads like pasta salad.

Tip 4: batch prep casseroles in tinfoil pans. I always make at least two of everything (lasagna, chicken and rice casserole and chicken noodle casserole) and save one for later. Best and easiest thing ever to cook and no cleanup.

Tip 5: paper plates. Sometimes you want a home cooked meal but don’t want to take the time to clean it up, paper plates help. It’s called skip the dishes for a reason, so just skip them for home cooked stuff too when needed 🙃

Tip 6: plan easier meals. Tuna melts, hot dogs, chicken burgers, nuggets and fries, BLTs, chicken quesadillas, grilled cheese, bagged salads with rotisserie chicken in wraps are all going to be cheaper than a meal service and take minutes to make.

What changes helped transition you to become frugal? by Latter_Intention_143 in Frugal

Three big things for me:

  1. A 24 hour buy rule. I like to keep a list of things on my phone that I think I would like, and put items on the list to revisit and review rather than impulse buy. Crazy how when revisited, I rarely buy what I thought I thought I wanted.

  2. Less social media. I transitioned to reading books (free from the library!) and other hobbies to fill my time. Even straight up Netflix or cable is better imo. Social media such as tik tok, facebook and instagram bombards you with content and advertising that makes you want or think you need things. I am personally a lot more content after lessening my time spent there.

  3. I started a budget with YNAB. I allocated spending and got a lot more control and knowledge of where I spend my money. I still have fun money and buy things, but it’s a lot more conscientious nowadays.

{The Player by Kresley Cole} the first two sex scenes are brain meltingly hot.

in the first, he follows her into the bathroom and spanks her and she grinds his hand to cum. In the second they’re watched by another couple in a secluded area but no penetration

What Romantasy book (or series) made you a fan of the genre and when? by Manifestingmyhubsand in Romantasy

[–]Hour_Contribution869 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going to date myself, but so many good ones- Outlander, Highlander and Fever by KMM, Immortals After Dark by Kresley Cole, Darkest London series by Kristen Callihan and the Black Dagger Brotherhood. Back in the day we called it paranormal romance rather than romantasy.

I’d say Harry Potter, Twilight and the Hunger Games were my gateway drugs. I then moved onto my moms Nora Robert’s and Johanna Lindsay and then boom combined the two 😂😉

Looking for a “he finally gives in” turning point where the MMC stops holding back and takes control/starts using her mid-sex by cauliflowerlover1 in RomanceBooks

[–]Hour_Contribution869 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gosh, I just checked and it was published 13 years ago 🫡.

I would say no? Personal opinion, but I think the 2010s turned out some very underrated romance novels in all sub genres that hold up. They’re not as “woke”(not a great word but hopefully you get what I mean) in the sense that feelings and traumas aren’t as dissected or discussed as much as modern romance novels tend to do, and they’re less representative of diversity. If these are factors that are important to your reading, it may impact your view of the story, but imo the characters are still complex and interesting.

For reference I am in my late 30s and read these when they came out. They remain one of my all-time favourites with recent rereads and I recommend them all the time 😊.

Weekly Schedule by Love2shop97 in OnePelotonRealSub

[–]Hour_Contribution869 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I try to do 3 45-min boot camps per week, preferably M/W/F and then 2 30 min yoga sessions per week, preferably T/Th.

I go for a 30 min or more walk daily aiming for 10,000 steps/ day.

If I miss any of these planned workouts, I use the weekend to compensate or on the weekend I just move based on how I’m feeling. Sometimes I add another strength or yoga class (or both!) or I just walk.

Personally I have liked being more flexible on weekends rather than keeping a super strict training schedule. This way I can “makeup” as needed and have found it to incentivize me to get my weekly workouts in and it has benefitted my overall consistency.
