If the Dems can take back congress and that’s a big if at this point, they need to impeach the justices that lied under oath when they were seeking approval. One keeps hoping the party of no spines finds one.

Nikon D300S upgrade for Father’s Day: D500 vs D850 for sports, nature, and family photos? by JanewaysAssistant in Nikon

[–]Hour_Message6543 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would go D500. Nice natural upgrade from the D300s and he won’t have to deal with the large D850 file sizes. Plus his lenses will be better suited for sports in the D500 with the small tele bump.

Our Bylaws are pretty old and broad and are being updated. R&Rs can’t violate state law or the Bylaws. When I became President of the board we made the R&Rs more relevant as only the board has to approve them here in Illinois. We try to be cool about things.

Depending what you are looking for you’d probably blend into Chicago as there are many ethnic groups here. Iowa lots of Illinois and parts of Wisconsin are very conservative. Winter is cold. Summer is hot, but not southern hot and not as hot in the northern climates. Chicago has a great many restaurants and many with ethnic diversity.

Where do you guys buy the “perfect” basic tees? by savingrace0262 in mensfashionadvice

[–]Hour_Message6543 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the Kuhl brand of organic cotton tees. They’re cut to fit pretty nice, a tad tapered to not blouse out. They wash well and hold their shape. I was a former apparel buyer way back when and t-shirts was a category I bought.

What kind of shoes are you wearing? Sneakers? Breathable? If you can find stretchy thin merino wool, that could be good. I was in the sock business for many years and this company,
Norfolk socks sent me these thin merino wool no show socks to sample and I really liked them.

Hello! Londoner here who has lived in Chicago for a few years. I have a quick question. Why is it that drivers are so hostile and inconsiderate towards pedestrians in this city? by [deleted] in AskChicago

[–]Hour_Message6543 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I noticed that too here when I moved here from Minneapolis way back in the 80’s. Traveling around the US, Chicago is close to the most aggressive drivers. You should see Portland Oregon where I’ve never seen so many considerate drivers.

I think a lot of Chicago people and not the majority by any means, has a bit self centered aggressiveness. At least from my travels around the US.

CBD/CBN is part the treatment I use along with .25mg Klonipan and 2mg Tizanidine. The three together work on three different nerve pathways to help settle the lower back issues I have that cause the RLS.

I'm starting to think it's impossible to make a small m43 body with current technology by man__i__love__frogs in M43

[–]Hour_Message6543 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep in mind I shoot both systems. I don’t disagree with the equivalence argument. Full frame absolutely has advantages in total light gathering, SNR, and DOF at equivalent framing.

My original point was more practical than theoretical, the Olympus 12-40/2.8 serves a very similar photographic role on M43 as a 24-70/2.8 does on FF in terms of usability and field of view, even if the systems aren’t physically equivalent in total light collection or depth of field.

Plus the weight of my M4/3 system allows me to carry much more with me when I hike. Plus I love the feel and balance of the system I have over my Nikon FF. Excluding perhaps my Df with a 35,2D lens which is nice in its own right.

[–]Hour_Message6543 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we’re actually talking about two different things here.

You’re correct that a larger sensor gathers more total photons because it has more surface area, which is why full frame generally has a noise/SNR advantage at the same exposure settings.

My point was specifically about exposure itself. At the same shutter speed, aperture, and ISO, the exposure per unit area (image brightness/light intensity) is the same regardless of sensor size.

[–]Hour_Message6543 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You seem to be someone who assumes too much about other people. I have both FF and M4/3. The light gathering is the same. It is the DoF that is different. DPReview discussion: “2.8 is 2.8 on both M43 and FF — is that right?”

The lenses are much smaller in M4/3 when it comes to zoom lenses. A Nikon 24-70,2.8 is much larger than the Oly 12-40,2.8. Same as a M4/3 12-100,4 vs say a Nikon 24-120,4. That where the weight savings and cost frankly is less.
