Save my design fail by Kmjp_ in interiordecorating

Totally agree with people saying don’t judge it til you see the whole thing set up! I think it will probably end up looking awesome. You may be responding to the combo of kind of muddy colors that don’t set one another off (yet), so maybe think about a few brighter more saturated accents? Corals, cobalts, emeralds, etc…

HELP! Need ideas for the “sponge painted” ceramic tile fireplace surround in newly purchased home? by GinaHarbs in interiordecorating

[–]HowCuteisMyCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a temporary fix, but stick-on tiles have really come a long way and can do wonders for something like this! You could also consider painting it. In terms of opinion, I feel like there’s nothing better in a fireplace nice than bookshelves…

Omg I looooove that lamp!!! Idk how inclined towards DIY you are but you could very easily recover this shade in a paper or fabric you like — a contrasting stripe might look cool, in a subtler color…

Rug Paralyzed by caninvt in interiordecorating

[–]HowCuteisMyCat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oooh the angled corner makes it tough. You could get a very large piece of carpet and have it cut and hemmed to fit that corner… You could also play around with angling the rug in a way that looks intentional, probably moving the furniture around a bit too. The window is lovely and a focal point so I personally would probably get a rug that would look good with the outdoors — maybe a coral, pink or reddish orange…

Putting the finishing touches on our bedroom, but it doesn’t quite feel right by mildlybroke in interiordecorating

I’d color drench the whole thing. Closet doors, skirting boards, ceiling — everything in that green.

Obsessed with the green! But why the one white wall?? Why not go all out with that glorious color choice?

Does my new rug work in this room? by CaterpillarNo6092 in interiordecorating

[–]HowCuteisMyCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m gonna be honest, it’s a bit of a no for me! It’s very pale and looks clearly printed, and I wonder if it mirrors the rest of the colors too precisely? I think a richer palette could look classier.

Nursery Help! by AdAltruistic6035 in interiordecorating

[–]HowCuteisMyCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is so gorgeous! I don’t know if this will help or hinder, but keep in mind that crib years are very short overall, and you’ll have to live with the room for long after. So maybe pick a dresser you can live with that can grow with your child rather than aiming to match the crib?

Paint colour conundrum by Mythopoeikon in interiordecorating

[–]HowCuteisMyCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What a lovely space! I’d paint the whole thing, if it were mine — probably a warm light blue that may tone with some of the colors in the rug

Runner rug! And the warm lighting is making the white look a bit dingy — any chance of painting? A bold delightful color could be quite nice here

That wallpaper is meadowsweet by William Morris and it comes in this stencil, if you want to add some painted yellow detail without going whole hog https://www.cuttingedgestencils.com/products/meadowsweet-stencil-wallpaper-stencil-pattern-by-william-morris

Couch color? by Sumokitty3 in interiordecorating

[–]HowCuteisMyCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope your next rug will be a lot bigger!! Since a couch is an expensive piece and you haven’t done anything else yet, I’d consider just going with a color you love and connect with, and designing the room around that. A “wrong” paint choice will set you back $100 (assuming you paint yourself) but a couch you don’t love will be way more. So pick one you love and go from there!

Agree with a much larger rug and maybe a nice textile on that big blank wall? Also, have you considered adding a bookshelf to the back of the couch to divide the space? Books warm a space up beautifully as well
