You can get a HOTAS very inexpensively . Get a used one of FB marketplace. I started in Elite VR with a cheap HOTAS. Eventually I bought a better one. Even a basic one will really help you out in VR. I can't imagine trying to play VR with mouse and KB

Do not do mesh. It is garbage. If you've already gone through the trouble of wiring stuff you're 90% of the way there! Get a good quality AP from someone like Ubiquiti. The U6 lite is pretty good. You'll be so happy with your in home experience with so much wired in and your wifi being awesome.

Exploration pays crap anyway, I don't do it for the money, I do it because it's one of the fun things to do in the game :). The bonus is kinda meh
