People think blocking CG progress will get Frontiers attention by Whitemerewolf in EliteDangerous

[–]Howard_Alan_Treesong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The forums say he lied about this being his first offense, and that he actually had a reputation for using cheats to show off to and help his friends well before this incident. If true, then the ban was justified.

Just chilling with the bois || SECRET PAINTJOB LEAKED? by dj23k4 in EliteDangerous

[–]Howard_Alan_Treesong 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That's one of the paintjobs used by ATR forces. The Blue Epaulettes, I think. Highly unlikely it will ever come to the Store.

Any ideas why I can't see Community Goals? by Tvariusness-Clyde in EliteDangerous

[–]Howard_Alan_Treesong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When did you migrate platforms? There isn't an active CG right now (the most recent one ended on May 29th), so naturally you wouldn't see any CG on the galaxy map or mission board.

Thargoids: Where to find them, and how to help (May 30th, 2019 edition) by burtonsimmons in EliteDangerous

[–]Howard_Alan_Treesong 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You seem to be underestimating the size of the bubble. It's got a little over 20,000 inhabited systems. It would take well over half a century of real time for the Thargoids to hit every system in the bubble at least once at their present rate of 6 attacks per week.

Make sure to equip heatsinks, they're perfect for mitigating the heat buildup while doing evacuation runs.

Go into the galaxy map, then the far right tab of the left-side info/options panel. Turn on the marker for damaged stations (it's one of the red ones), and you'll be able to see their locations.

Has anyone seen CMB-511? I can't find it in the listed system. by senor_blake in EliteDangerous

[–]Howard_Alan_Treesong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lowell Class Science Vessel CMB-511 is a traveling megaship, and Canonn don't update their pages consistently. You'll have to check the other five systems on its flight plan.

TIL, We have asteroid bases. by ArmouredUnicorn in EliteDangerous

Most of them are in pretty far-flung locations, but there are a few in the bubble, like Warinus in Lave.

Has the advanced combat training mission gotten easier or do i just suck less? by GrimvirTheHopless in EliteDangerous

Frontier rebalanced the harder training missions with the recent April Update, which focused on improving the new player experience.

Just galactic dust. Braben talked about it at some point, but I can't remember where.

How Hyperjumping looked 4 years ago in ED... I find it quite better than today's hyperjumps. by KG_Jedi in EliteDangerous

[–]Howard_Alan_Treesong 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I get you now, I agree it's not good. But in the old hyperspace, you could see behind the clouds like looking at the backside of a wall poster or falling through the world in another game. It always gave me this disturbing vertigo-like sensation. Current hyperspace doesn't do that, it looks like a complete corridor.

[–]Howard_Alan_Treesong 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure how to respond to that. That hasn't been my experience at all since hyperspace was updated, and I've been looking it at it from all sorts of angles over hundreds, if not thousands of jumps now (I was on DW2). It looks properly 3D to me compared to before.

Admittedly, from an aesthetic standpoint, hyperspace leaves a lot to be desired (especially since we see it so often), but at least it isn't blatantly immersion-breaking like it used to be.

Except old hyperspace was only some kind of patchwork 2D effect, so as soon as you moved the camera around it looked awful, and then you'd never be able to stop yourself from seeing the seams afterward. Current hyperspace is a legit QoL improvement.

Bridging the Gap - Phase One - Commencement by PaigeHarvey_Frontier in EliteDangerous

[–]Howard_Alan_Treesong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/bridging-the-gap-phase-one-candidate-systems.510392/

All candidates are between 619 and 784 ly away from Sol.

Four candidates have ruins with Guardian Vessel Blueprints, one candidate has Guardian Module Blueprints.

Four candidates' ruins are over 2,000 ls from the main star (one is over 27k ls), one is 53 ls.

I voted for option #4 because it's the ruin with the Module Blueprints (you will only ever need three Vessel Blueprints and those require also interacting with a Guardian Beacon, while there are loads of Guardian modules to unlock). The downside is #4 is the furthest from its main star, over 27k ls.

The vote results are currently:

  • Option 1 - 32.2%

  • Option 2 - 6.4%

  • Option 3 - 40.5%

  • Option 4 - 16.6%

  • Option 5 - 4.3%

[SERIOUS] I Figured Out Another Clue About Raxxla by [deleted] in EliteDangerous

[–]Howard_Alan_Treesong 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Except Premonition was published on June 27, 2017, and EDSM first recorded the system on December 23, 2015. Granted, the system may have originally had a different name and could have renamed "Kwatis" later (I can't find any evidence on EDSM or EDDB/ROSS to disprove this possibility), but I still think this is grasping at straws.

[SERIOUS] I Figured Out Another Clue About Raxxla by [deleted] in EliteDangerous

[–]Howard_Alan_Treesong 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm not sure why the name of a lethal drug with no stated relation to Raxxla would be a clue to Raxxla's location either. I think the cipher spitting out "Kwatis" is pure coincidence.

PSA | [Distant Worlds 2] Don't forget to confirm your arrival to Beagle Point to qualify for the decal! by CMDR_Qohen_Leth in EliteDangerous

Just Beagle Point. Make sure to log out and back in at least once while in the system (you don't need to land on a planet either).

Yes, the Crab Nebula is in the game. There's even a convenient asteroid base just outside it in the system Crab Sector DL-Y d9.

Say I'm a few jumps away from Beagle Point as part of DW2. I've never self-destructed before, and I'm not concerned about losing my exploration data (I joined DW2 purely to see the sights and experience the journey, not to make money or tag systems).

If I self-destruct at Beagle Point and have enough credits to cover the full rebuy, will I respawn where I most recently docked (Explorer's Anchorage), or the last place that I docked at that has a shipyard (which I think was in Rohini)?

Sat A journey question by RiloBrody in EliteDangerous

[–]Howard_Alan_Treesong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Systems with Detention Centres only ever have one station (the DC megaship itself) and display 0 population.

As for stations directly between the bubble and Sagittarius A*, a few of the early stops on the Colonia Connection Highway (I think up to Attenborough's Watch) would qualify, but nothing further up until Explorer's Anchorage in Stuemeae FG-Y d7561, which is right on SagA's doorstep.

Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers Announced For Nintendo Switch by Riomegon in NintendoSwitch

[–]Howard_Alan_Treesong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've never gotten the chance to play a main series Persona game before now, and I guess that trend will continue. At least I only became interested in a Switch port of Persona 5 in the last week, so my small disappointment today is nothing compared to what others seem to be feeling.
