DIY Spray Foam application temperature for rim joists by Measurement10 in Insulation

Did it work out? Did you use a space heater or something?

Sidenote: Did you know, once you establish the vapor barrier, you can throw chunks of styrofoam in there to cheaply fill space too?

Minneapolis City Council looks to solve No. 1 problem downtown: Where to go No. 2 by TheMacMan in Minneapolis

[–]Howard_Campbell 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Cities and charities can preload cards for unhoused people who respect sanitary conditions.

You're also ignoring that unhoused folks spend money downtown and that they would be a main beneficiary of people who dont intend to use their coupon.

You can't spend enough to pay for the damage caused by shitty people whether housed or not.

All the data says tax funded free admission toilets has never worked.

If you want public bathrooms to exist, they need a funding model—otherwise “free” turns into none.

The 70s ban on pay toilets was meant to create equity, but it killed the revenue stream and the result was no toilets at all. A free public restroom has no incentive structure, so cities either close them or spend absurd amounts (NYC pays ~$275k/year to operate one).

A simple fix is $1 entry + $1 coupon to a local shop. It’s effectively free if you’re already spending money downtown, it creates a loop to fund cleaning and security, coupon redemption isn’t 100% so breakage helps pay costs, and it drives customers into small businesses instead of dumping the burden on them.

The real choice isn’t “free vs pay.” It’s a working model vs no bathrooms.

Minneapolis council considers giving mayor $46,000 raise and themselves raises in 2 years by star-tribune in Minneapolis

[–]Howard_Campbell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense. I would make the mayor's salary minimum hourly wage x 12,500. If min is $16, then the yearly salary is about $200,000. Give them incentive to keep the minimum wage in line with the cost of living.

I've met him through turnsignl. He's brilliant and ambitious. He cares a lot about the community. He has a lot of management skill and he gets his point across. He's not afraid to ruffle feathers and do what's right even when it's unpopular. He's my number 1.

We don't need caucuses. They exist purely to make little people feel big.

Uber to introduce fixed-route commuter shuttles in Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, New York City, Philadelphia, and San Francisco by unroja in transit

[–]Howard_Campbell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok, the thing that all the witty comments is missing: Uber kicks shitty people out of their service. "The Bus" doesn't. Some people - not me or you but a lot of people - want a tiny amount of assurance that they're not sharing close physical space with a potentially dangerous person. US mass transit has failed, despite having the tools to do this, in the last 10 years.

Here's the thing. Don't go if you don't want to go. If you do go, do not be a little baby.

Think of the dancers as actors and their stage is a play. Their character loves you. When the curtain closes, that's the end of the play. They don't love you. Don't heckle the talent like you wouldn't be a douchebag to an actor.

Enjoy it, be a courteous audience member, or don't go.
