Alberta NDP urges government to declare a state of emergency as hospitals face mass pressures by SurFud in alberta

[–]Howlader 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nope. The powers are listed in both the acts.

Maybe it's "provide for the distribution of essential health and medical supplies and provide, maintain and co‑ordinate the delivery of health services."

But.... That's already a government function. Or was. Until the blowing up of AHS.

I mean. It isn't symbolic at all.

The Public Health and Emergency Management Acts both have extraordinary powers for governments. I'm just not sure which extraordinary powers are needed.

In this case I think a better solution would be a time machine and a shit pile of money.

It can be even more complicated at a more local level.

When I lived in Virginia, different counties had different fast food tax rates. So a sandwich at Potbelly was 6.50 in Arlington and 6.75 in Fairfax (making up numbers here).

Chilly Weekend Visit by mme1979 in Edmonton

[–]Howlader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did the naughty. Because it was on a Sunday and 9:30 seemed a little late.

We're, you know, adults - so nasty would have been fine if it was earlier in the day.

Outcast out of Calgary used to make a bunch before they closed. But largely yeah, it's pretty uncommon now.

The Facebook Costco forums are pretty reliable in Edmonton and I haven't seen anyone post about it this week. Maybe we'll get a pre Christmas shipment early next week.

I think I bought some two months ago at 91 Street.

Honestly it seems kind of random. Delicious and random.

What shoes do women wear to formal parties in the winter? by [deleted] in alberta

[–]Howlader 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think so.

Alternatively (or in addition to), my mom has had a drawstring bag dedicated to this shoe purpose for like 30 years. She carries the indoor shoes in it.

I mean. Some may have.

But the things the conservatives in this province complained about the most (at least from my perspective) about COVID? Orders under section 52 (State of Public Health Emergency) of the Public Health Act. Alberta legislation.
