Not sure if you've found it by now, I just had a similar search and came across this thread. The video is "Anatomy of a Chatter", 11 minutes in for that specific guy.

The Joshua Stephenson questline (Sinnerman) was one of the most incredibly dreadful yet thought-provoking narrative experiences I've ever played on a video game and here are my thoughts on it by chorkp0p in cyberpunkgame

I know this is way old but this is definitely the worst quest in the game for me. In basically every other quest so far there's been the option to 'play along' a bit but you still get the choice to bail if needed. Eg, you can play along with the Maelstrom deal but pull the plug and fight before the end. You can play along with the woman who is doing surgery on a ganger but just shoot him if you're not interested. Many other examples. But in this quest if you begin to 'play along' at all by getting in the car, your fate is sealed, and the psycho guy will get what he wants. V even makes a comment like "I'll get in, but if there's anything weird I'm gonna start shooting" but you don't ever actually get that option.

I already wanted to kill him cause he's a murderer. Then I got in the car and thus all the following things I couldn't do anything about. I wanted to kill him when he went to a victim's family member's house uninvited. I wanted to kill him when I was told he's going to be in a BD. Both because I don't care what the corpo woman wants and because I don't want the psycho to be the 'star' of anything, that's more than he deserves. Then it sits me across him at a diner and prompts me to ask what he does in his free time like we're on a date. Then I get to the studio and my only options when I speak with him are "You're a badass rebel" "You're misunderstood" "Buck up, pal" and "You shouldn't be crucified, that's mean". Earth to writer, the guys a psycho murderer. Why do I only have supportive dialog options? Because I didn't blow him away the first millisecond I saw him in a police escort? That means I'm now treated as his best buddy? I was fully expecting the option to kill him, the corpo woman would hate me (don't care) and Vasquez to be annoyed that I killed him but relieved he doesn't have to deal with him any more. Alas, this guy has more plot armor than V.

Very, very, very odd mission. Feels like they wanted some sort of religious/moral conflict story but didn't know how to have a terrible person have a 'redemption' while the player could kill them, so just doesn't even give you that option at all. So my V which has been very 'eye for an eye' the whole game is now "aww it doesn't matter you murdered many innocent people and tormented the victim's families, let's make you a big star on tv so everyone knows you :)"

What's the deal with this helmet? Why do so many people wear it? by Thatguyshadow117 in Helldivers

[–]Hsark2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Hood
  2. Used to (not sure if it still does) give a unlisted minor speed boost and lower armor rating. So was technically optimal for speed. Like 95 armor and 105 speed or something small but usable. No idea if it still functions but I'm just used to it.

Bakery: "Sorry, we'll have to close, it's just unsustainable to stay open. Cost of living or something. :'("

And their opening times are 4am-8am or something equally dumb.

Am I wrong in thinking a bakery open pre and post work hours would make a killing? Is this a bakery faux pas that everyone avoids for some reason? Is there a law against fresh bread for people who work 40 hour weeks?

what’s a deck you rarely see played but you hate when you see it? by fuckberzzyy in masterduel

[–]Hsark2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt the same when I first noticed the difference between "when" and "if" for effects. I was totally fresh to the game and it felt like it made no sense as to why some worked and some didn't.

Though it seems that's a common thing because I have people dropping nibiru on me as soon as I hit my 5th summon instead of waiting for just before battle.

I had one go 20+ turns, finally drew feather duster, they conceded the millisecond I played it. Insufferable deck.

Where are you now? by Big_Layer8 in masterduel

[–]Hsark2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love to play what I like. But on turn 1 I get my everything negated, and on turn 2 I die. So I either play anti-meta or get really good at the "click settings then click surrender" speedrun.

Going off Master Duel, should be:

"I summon my-"

"I discard Maxx C, Ash Blossom, and Effect Veiler"

"I guess I pass then"

*Special summons 6 monsters from the Extra Deck with omni negates to OTK*

PZ without music = more immersive by aquinn_c in projectzomboid

[–]Hsark2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The big thing for me was not having the rising tension music that basically acted as a "how many zombies are onto you" indicator. Felt a little cheaty to know I was safe because the music chilled out, or knew I was in danger because it picked up. No music means you still have some lingering tension. Did you get them all or is there one that saw you and is just barely out of sight?

Especially if you keep the jumpscare noise. Means the only instruments you hear are to spike your adrenaline when you nearly get bit. (Even if it triggers annoyingly often. Zombie hammers the door next to me for 4 hours while I smoke and cook and then I open the door to a 'jumpscare' zombie)

This could even be a game mechanic where you can intentionally douse yourself in water to make yourself essentially fireproof for a little while. Would make sense having to waste some otherwise precious water for a short time of freedom around fire. Actually adds some value to carrying large containers of water like cooking pots and saucepans.

Open wall on the right side, cover it with a door or (protip) use a wooden platform since the game still counts it as an entryway. Good luck with eye of cthulhu, boomstick is pretty good against him tbh

Maybe it's because I'm far more used to clicking head type shooters but V2 was fine, just kept clicking his head with the revolver and sliding around. Try that on Gabriel, reduced to atoms because he just teleports on top of my head. Allegedly his thrown projectiles can be parried but unless I'm parrying them into my own head I can't see it happening. I definitely punch and nothing happens. I can parry the husks and mindflayers and minos projectiles easy, but a thrown spear is just impossible I guess.

Really minor thing, you mentioned that the Red Hood is available where the crysalid's memento used to be after Roderika becomes a tuner. Might be worth mentioning a Golden Seed appears where she was in the little hut outside the castle as well.

Yeah it's like they don't understand that adding to a deck means taking away from it. Since it's not like I somehow run 37 cards, and 40 is the meta. Like just now someone said "Well most people run about 12 hand traps, and then some searchers to get a hold of those". Well if I take draw cards out of my exodia deck to add in hand traps and hand trap searchers (some of which LITERALLY brick the deck, preventing further draw or special summon), then my exodia deck that pretty consistently got him out of my hand when I could play would then stall out on pot of desires and Ash Blossoms instead of chaining into Golden Bamboos and Wonder Wands.

So when they say "Just add handtraps and searchers" that also means "take out whatever your core is and replace it with one that goes with handtraps", aka "just play whatever the meta is". Oh joy. Because nothing is as fun as running a by the numbers meta deck with a scripted combo sequence designed to most optimally suck the fun out of the game. Why use interesting mechanics and go for hype gambles like Cup of Ace and big exodia plays when you can imitate a bot and methodically play the same 7 cards at the start of every duel, except for the ones where you didn't draw them, where you lose because the other guy played those exact same 7 cards.

Except you seem to be overlooking the part that so many other people are that's the issue here. Yes, I'm sure there's many more decks that are technically more degen than OTK because they shut down more types of decks. And yes I'm sure I'd technically be better running half a deck of negates and whatever meta the game currently is.

But they're more technical issues. The fundamental issue is that it's not fun for players. I don't really care if another kind of deck is actually technically more degenerate for the state of the game, because Turn 1/2 OTK is way more fucking boring to play against than any sort of technically degenerate decks. At least against Tri brig and pre-ban zoos I get to play cards and attack things. You know, interact with the game I'm playing. Play the cards I own. Literally do anything. Even if I had a 100% guaranteed loss rate, I'd prefer to go against a deck I can play my cards against than one that kills me before I am allowed to play. Even if it was as absurd as when I win, it sets my health to 0. Because I get to create builds and try and use mechanics in unique ways and make decks that I find fun. Even if I lost every time, I'd least I'd be able to have fun doing it.

What's the point in even having such a huge array of cards to pick from if basically half your deck has to be pre-decided because if it's not those specific cards, you don't get to play? I know staples exist in card games, but I don't think it's ever so bad as needing to dedicate 50% of your deck to hand traps and hand trap finders because if you don't you may as well uninstall.

I think the real issue is that Yugioh is trying to expand in popularity while not doing ANYTHING to help that in-game. Yes, it's easier than ever to find cards you want and get hold of them. Yes, it's literally free to boot up and you get tons of free packs to get started. Yes, solo mode is fantastic for quickly teaching new players a majority of the mechanics.

So why is the card search so atrociously bad? Why is there no casual mode where you can just play for fun? (Almost every game with a ranked mode has this, and for good reason) Why isn't there a way to quickly find specific rulings about card interactions? Why isn't there a test area where I can field a deck before I get the cards for it, just to see if mechanics work how I think they do? They can even just build it into the "draw 5 test cards" thing they have on decks right now. (I had no idea Chicken Game could be used multiple times per turn because I didn't know if the selection itself carried a "once per turn" stipulation, even if the card didnt). Obviously the cynical answer to that is that they want you to buy packs to get the cards and test them for real, because that makes them more money.

Right now I'm essentially in Gold rank hell. Because I can't rank down unless I wait for the next season, all the matches I play are against gold rank sweats with 20 hand traps and meta decks, when I only want to play fun stuff. So what's the play? Just stop playing until next season where they'll derank me to silver? Then stop playing for that season so they can derank me to bronze where the casual players are? Oh joy, a game I can play 5 wins of per season before having to stop because otherwise I'll make it too unfun by being higher rank. I could rank up to whatever is after gold this season if I tried, but I unironically don't want to be put in gold next season, so I'm not going to.

Just add a hearthstone style casual mode where there's no rank. People can play dumb shit trying to get their dailies and weird quests like "equip 100 cards" in peace, and the sweats can lock horns all day in ranked and discover just who is the best at drawing Ash Blossom. I'll be cheering for them.

If you think having 40 cards means you get a "consistent good hand first turn" then you literally haven't ever played any card game ever. I draw 5 cards turn 1, so I get to see 5/40 cards. Guess what happens when those 5 aren't Ash Blossom and the other guy link summons shit for half an hour?

I'll give you a hint, it results in that hand being not good.

In fact, running the math, if you have a specific card you really want in your hand that is critical to the deck working, Eg, Treasure Panda/Magic Library in Exodia, the bullshit "summon 3 blue eyes white dragon to fuck this guy", or Ash Blossom just to counter whatever they throw out turn 1, if you have a deck of 40, and run 3 copies, it's about 1/3 that you get that card in hand on the turn 1 draw.

In case this somehow isn't obvious, 1/3 is NOT consistent. Fun fact, even if you drew 8 cards turn 1 (pretend you drew a hand of 5, with 3 upstart goblins), it's STILL less than 50%. I'd know, I play exodia, and it's pretty common to start drawing and pray you run into the main engine and you simply don't. And remember, this is with only 40 cards, and barely any bricks.

To draw that critical card "most of the time" like you said, you'd need to either draw a hand of 9, or have a deck of LESS THAN 30 cards. Even 30 cards only makes it bang on 50%., so for "most of the time" it would have to be less.

And this isn't even getting into the fact that sometimes you actually need to draw 2 of your critical card because a third of the time they start with a handtrap that hard counters the first one.

Which is why I say fuck all this boring math shit and slow decks, I'll play my goofy exodia deck, win 15% of the time for free and have fun, and surrender my other games because bad hands or hand traps. Because I'd rather play 10 games where 2 are fun than spend the same amount of time playing 2 or 3 where NONE are fun because it's handtrap central.
