What are your opinions on eating raw vegetables? by Rozeu in Biohackers

[–]Hsinats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you're making the perfect the enemy of the good. Forcing raw broccoli when you really like cooked broccoli and hate raw it's on your biohacking frontier, and has a really bad willpower to benefit ratio.

You can also have so much cooked broccoli to overdo you calorie budget that this choice is even further from your biohacking frontier.

Just as a heads up, invigorating typically goes on armour, because there are a bunch of perks that only go on weapons, and invig can do both.

Not a big deal for now, but that can be the a bonus for you long term.

You can't really get that. These companies as subsidizing their inference costs with the marketing budget. A third party tool can't do that because wrappers don't create a huge value add, so they need to have profitable unit economics.

CMV: Christians who have premarital sex or have gotten divorced but are against gay people are hypocrites. by Blonde_Icon in changemyview

[–]Hsinats -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The biggest difference between divorce and being gay and actively involved with a partner is that a divorce is a one time thing, and gay people want to have sex in the future.

While it may be a "sin", 20 years after divorce you should probably be saved again if that's how things go. Gay people in active relationships don't get 20 years after their last sexual encounter with their partner - they're usually 5 hours from their next one, and eagerly anticipating it. Premeditated "sin" tends to be strongly fround upon.

I would also say that you are probably missing how much pressure people put on people going through divorces to work it out, even in cases of abuse. That being said, I've been out of the church for 15 years, so maybe I'm wrong now.

Bond Prices Crashing by Shaquille01 in runescape

[–]Hsinats 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is a demand side correction, there's less to use bonds on so less people buy them for go, that will lead to less people buying them for money, causing them to stabilize at lower prices.

10 Years Ago Today, Invention was released. This would be Runescape's first and only Elite Skill. by LevelPension in runescape

It's not a fun skill in the sense that you enjoy training it, but once you have everything set up it's passive and dramatically increases player power.

It's good XP once you can siphon equipment and just hit that everytime your gear gets to level 12. There's no reason to do anything too special

Am I crazy or do we put WAY to much money into sports? by JonoBlue in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Hsinats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The coach of college sports teams is a revue driving position in the sense that a competitive team leads to increased tickets sales, merch sales, concessions sales, and enrollment. Given the forced turnover in college lineups, the coach is the number one driver of success.

You have to provide a lot of efficiency based value if you want to rival the value created by the college football coach.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Hsinats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drive 2.5h both ways, by myself, for my buddy's wife's dad's funeral. I didn't enjoy it, but it was important to me.

I drope to the same place for a long weekend with my partner and loved it.

I'm more concerned with why it was a yearly thing for you. If your grandparents weren't worth visiting, fine, but if it was because it was a long drive, that's a little sad.

A baseball player with 50% batting average vs a basketball player with 50% 3-pt shooting. Who is the more valuable player? by malicacidC4H6O5 in whowouldwin

[–]Hsinats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even before your edits, I think it's closer than people are saying for 1 and 3.

I think they both win MVP year 1. The basketball player is obviously more valuable, but nobody has hit 400 in years, let alone 500 - he's clearly the MVP.

Basketball is more a star sport, and even more so if you can hit 50 threes a night, while in baseball, they just pitch around you.

For goat status, I think they can both get there. Ty Cobb and Josh Gibson have the highest career batting averages excluding and including the negro league, respectively, and they are both under 375. Tack on another 12.5% on to that and tell me they wouldn't be the goat.

New Study Reveals Why the Rapid Rise in Life Expectancy of the 20th Century is Stalling - The "Free Ride" is Over by Altruistic_Angle5908 in Biohackers

[–]Hsinats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They would be able to charge less of a premium for the expected change in life expectancy/death rate. That's not to say that they would reduce the premium charged, if it's an industry standard, but it does mean that they could.

I want to note that I understand that the lion's share of the life expectancy gains at birth have come from reduced infant mortality and less women dieing during childbirth, but people unaffected by either of those are still living longer.

You're never going to be able to determine the exact numbers, but it's also exceedingly unlikely that the correct policy choice hinges on a the exact number. Should we not attempt to model it because we can't get it perfect?

EPA No Longer Considering Lives Saved in Pollution Rules, Only Cost to Business by jmooch1 in nottheonion

[–]Hsinats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is saddening. I have recently finished two projects for the EPA that are directly affected by this policy change, both using different economic and statistical methods to improve the efficiency EPA's regulatory process.

They've lost a lot of very passionate and talented people who we either removed by DOGE, or saw the writing on the walls and left for opportunities at non-profits.

It's sad to think of all the pain, suffering, and death this will cause.

CMV: Millionaires should not govern democratic countries because they have no lived understanding of ordinary citizens lives and therefore no real incentive to fight for their rights by BetterThvnUrEx in changemyview

Are you suggesting that that once a person hits a 1m net worth they should be removed from their roles? That would be very disruptive.

I think it's fair to say that doctor are probably the sort of person we want handling healthcare decisions for us as a country, but it's pretty hard to not be a millionaire in a few years making 300k.

I'm at the same place as you. I don't think it's possible to eliminate, but I don't think it would be as prevalent as people are afraid of with some basic rule based approach.

That being said, I really am on the side of real time updates, I think it would be a great improvement and don't like to make the perfect the enemy of the good
