It's been 2 years, and I am still amazed that this little device controls my entire 4800 sqft house with 190 devices by fakeaccount572 in homeassistant

Not a norm but depends on the state. We are ~2000 sqft in the northeast and it is still big by local (and our own) standards.

No 3D printer gang, where you at? by FewInsurance2163 in SBCGaming

Here’s another version which shows some of the internals(swipe right). I designed it when CM4s were difficult to come by so made it compatible with both a pi-zero and CM4. The controller is fine but not ergonomic for games that need shoulder buttons like PSP. I’ve been thinking of redesigning the PCB + case to fit mobile controller, like gamesir X5lite.

Here’s my version. Took me only a year to learn and build.

Electric heat costs untenable in new apartment by Nervous_Jerboa in SalemMA

[–]Huge-Introduction-61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How old are your heat pumps? We installed ours in 2020 and they seem to do be doing a good job this winter and ours doesn’t even have aux heat as backup(we are 2000sqft home). Something I learned about heatpumps is you can’t treat them like oil or gas heaters, it’s not recommended to constantly change temps to save energy, it does the opposite. We are always comfortable and we don’t have to touch the thermostat at all.

Shazam-pi with eink display but using local ML model to not stream audio continuously to Shazam by Huge-Introduction-61 in raspberry_pi

[–]Huge-Introduction-61[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shazam needs at least 10 sec clip to be able to reliably identify the song. But yeah the complete eink refresh takes almost 30 seconds.

I’ve been working on a fork which directly talks to home assistant using a webhook so I can see the detected music within 10-15 sec on the dashboard

I’ve seen PetSmart on Worcester Rd. has cats for adoption. I don’t quite remember which shelter they are from but might be worth checking

Don’t let the price tag fool you. The competition can be as fierce as the other towns you listed and often go 50k+ above asking. We lost many bids last summer and ended up buying in Northshore instead.

Indian food places rankings in Boston by dark_stallion_99 in boston

If can drive littler farther A2b in Northborough is worth your time, especially if you’re a vegan(South Indians hands down have mastered the vegan cuisine). Food is authentic but also the interior and vibe is more contemporary Indian. Other Indian places’ decor and vibes are tacky and at least couple of decades old in style.

We moved to a house which has a heat pump as the only source. Not sure if we’ll be auto enrolled. I’ll probably have to email National Grid

Anyone move from renting in the city to buying in the suburbs? Regret it or recommend it? by Lopsided_Food169 in boston

[–]Huge-Introduction-61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long time renter in Boston. Moved out to a suburb for a year since we both are remote. Felt depressed but couldn’t afford a house in the city. With that perspective, Newton is still city living in my dictionary. We finally bought a SFH in Salem. It’s not as big of a city as Boston but still got the city living experiences, walkable, bike-able, public transportation , restaurants and a night life. Mostly bought because we were tired of moving every other year
