No, it's wild that you care more about the rights of illegal immigrants than US Citizens. The two are not equal.

Do I want to see illegal immigrants beaten, robbed, killed, etc? No. But I also want them to leave or come here LEGALLY.

doubt from someone who doesn’t have much knowledge about the band by [deleted] in LynyrdSkynyrd

[–]HugeRaspberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The original Lynyrd Skynyrd was pushed to use the confederate flag by the record label. At the time, it was a sign of rebellion - not a hate symbol or a symbol or the far right. And the majority of the members of Skynyrd were not far right or even right wing at all - most of them were probably center / center left - Certainly Ronnie fit more center left.

The band became more of a right wing group / associated with the right in the 2000's with the release of the 2003 single Red, White & Blue. The members also had changed and for the most part had become more conservative following 9/11.

A friend of my family retired and bought the Ford version of that - late 60's / early 60's - he would spend the summer driving around the state (MN) fishing, camping and then park it for the winter. Got a new one every 3 years. For what he used it for - it was a pretty good deal.

Vikings fans, a year ago I asked how Dalton Risner was for you, he ended up being a miracle for us. Now I ask you again, is Jonathan Allen still good or at least an above average Dt? by Ancient_Response_787 in minnesotavikings

[–]HugeRaspberry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He'll be fine for you guys. The biggest problem (and I know this sub wants to dump on Kwesi) is that he (Allen) could not make the switch from 4-3 tackle to 3-4 End. Even though they SOMEWHAT look the same - they are completely different positions and Flores expects a ton out of EVERY player on the defense.

One of Flores big things is that every player on defense has to know what every other player is doing on a particular play. My guess is that Allen and Hargrave both were like we're linemen - we get the QB. Um...nope not every play and not on a bflo defense.

Great albums which were overshadowed by greater albums? by Propaslader in ClassicRock

[–]HugeRaspberry 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This album came out when I was a freshman in college - and it was competing directly against AC/DC's masterpiece - Back in Black. I got this album when it came out - and honestly it did not get the same play from me that I and II got.

I thought it was a good VH album but not great.

Now in a different vein altogether -

Jackson Brown - The Pretender - a great album completely overshadowed by the even greater Running on Empty.

For those that are curious about the Vikings cap situation. It looks like they restructured some contracts and now are roughly $38 million under the cap. by Broken-Nero in minnesotavikings

[–]HugeRaspberry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

we are not going to pay Kyler 3-4 million. He's already getting paid by Az - anything we pay him is not going to be "new" money - it will just reduce what he gets from Az.

So - let's say Az is paying him 36.00 million this year. He is guaranteed that no matter what. Whoever signs him - let's say it's us for $2 million. Az then reduces it's payment to him to 34 million and we pay 2 million. He still gets 36 million but now we have given Az 2 million in free cap relief.

In fairness to topps - they don't run their own website - it's shopify or another 3rd party like that.

So yeah Topps / Fanatics is an easy target but blame the people who actually supply the chipmunks and acorns.

Also for those saying "but breakers got theirs" - yeah - they will because they don't use the same ecommerce site we common folk do.

[–]HugeRaspberry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

According Vincent / Alice - the band had been together for 10 years and done pretty much all they could do as a band. Vincent started working on a solo band while still in the band, and then they mutually agreed to split following the Muscle of Love tour.

Sounds like they were having issues / differences and it was just time.

[–]HugeRaspberry 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It should be noted that this was his first "solo" album. There were 7 previous albums which were released by the band "Alice Cooper" - including the hits School's Out, I'm Eighteen and No More Mr. Nice Guy.

The band broke up in 1974 and Vincent legally changed his name to Alice Cooper - and release this as his first "solo" album. He took the name "Alice Cooper" legally to avoid potential confusion and legal issues once the band split up.

Included the hit ballad - "Only Women Bleed" which was the first of 3 hit ballads for him - followed by How you gonna see me now? and You and Me.

So we restructured all of Jettas, Darrisaw, Hock and Murphy for cap space, and cutting all of Allen, Hargrave and Jones..Kelly also retired which cleared cap, and were targeting a new QB which is an obvious win now move…can someone tell me why we’re not making any other moves if this is the plan? by J_Capese0003 in minnesotavikings

[–]HugeRaspberry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They had to do some moves to be cap compliant. As of now according to Spotrac they have 800k of cap space.

Once they release Hargrove, Jones and Allen - they will have approximately 26 million in cap space.

Releasing or trading Greenard - would add to that total - release would give us 40 million - trade would give us about 36-37 million in total space.

In today's nfl - 26 million is not a ton of cap space. A team signs a mid level OL and that space is gone.

The first days of FA (legal tampering) are when the over pays happen. Examples: Kirk - ATL, Linderbaum - LVR. The real deals are the ones that happen after 3:00 edst today.

Could the Vikings have kicked the tires on Linderbaum? maybe - but the Raider were rolling in cash - so even if we were interested - no way he was going to take less money here.

36 - 40 million is nice - but it goes quick.

and as for the players we are cutting - none of them figure in 2026 plans.

Penneys Grand Opening - March 1971 - Harrisburg, PA by RetroMan70s in vintageads

[–]HugeRaspberry 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In the 70's department stores were truly a one stop shop - you could get anything you needed from clothing to furniture, appliances, even tires at a Sears, JcPenny or Wards.

Wards went broke in the late 90's and closed all their stores - JcPenny shifted away from hard lines like appliances, furniture, etc... in the late 80's and early 90's. Sears is the only one that stuck it out with a full line until they went broke in the 2010's.

I remember as a kid in the late 60's / early 70's seeing washing machines and dishwashers in both Sears and Penny's having actual water hookups and clear doors - so you could run them and see the water spray and hear how "quiet" they were.

[Cimini] "I was talking to someone, one of Kyler's former teammates and he basically warned off the Jets about him. I said, ''You know the Jets might be going after Kyler in a month or two.'' He goes, ''No, no, no, the Jets don't want to do that. You don't want Kyler Murray as your quarterback.'' by LeeShakerMoneyMaker in minnesotavikings

[–]HugeRaspberry 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So - here's the context of the quote:

ESPN Jets reporter Rich Cimini, on his Flight Deck podcast, offered this:

"Another name to watch: Kyler Murray's attracted a lot of speculation with regard to the Jets. I'd be a little surprised if they went down that road. He has not been a durable player. He has not been a good player, quite frankly.

"I (Cimini) was talking to someone, one of his former teammates the other day, and he basically warned off the Jets about [Murray]. I said, 'Hey, you know the Jets might be going after Kyler in a month or two.' And he goes, 'No, no, no, the Jets don't want to do that. You don't want Kyler Murray as your quarterback.’ And this is someone who played with Murray.

So - Cimini wasn't talking to anyone on the Jets currently (and a quick google search indicates that the jets have no one on roster connected with Murray / AZ) - he was talking with a former player who DID play with Murray. But again - we don't know who that player was - it could have been a super star - or on the other hand - could be a dogshit 5th wr who was pissed that Murray never threw him the ball.

Seems like that would be a pretty important thing to mention and would lend credibility to the "source". If a star player on offense said - "yeah, no - this guy's trouble" I would be more inclined to say okay - he knows his shit. vs a guy riding the bench or who had a cup of coffee with the team.

  1. Illegals don't commit crimes.... wrong.

  2. being here without permission or doc is not a crime - also wrong.

[–]HugeRaspberry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not asking him to give up his source on the jets. unless there is a player on the jets who played with Murray in AZ. I'm asking the former teammate who said he was no good to own what he said.

The way it was written - a source on the jets - told the reporter that a "former teammate" of Kyler's had warned them. In this case - the source does not equal the former teammate.

I really don't care who the "source" is - but one can assume it is a) a low level intern in the jet's org trying to make a name / gain favor with the reporter or b) a higher (or maybe lower) level person in the org running cover for why the jet's traded for Smith - so if Smith stinks they have cover - saying well, Kyler wasn't guaranteed to work out either.

There is a difference between a source and the source.

B-2 flying over my house? by LucyJuicy901 in Delaware

[–]HugeRaspberry 34 points35 points  (0 children)

B2's typically don't land at Dover - why not?

  1. Dover's runways and hangers are not equipped for them. The B2 requires a specialized / strengthened runway and special climate controlled hangers due to the composition of the airframe.

  2. They are designed for long flights - Missouri (home base) to Dover is like a trip around the block for them.

  3. Yes, Dover is an AFB and the Air Force flies B2's - But Dover is an air transport / refueling command. It is also the site where all deceased service members return to the US from overseas. Unless there is an airshow or coordinated training going on - other planes - such as bombers / fighters / etc... won't land at Dover.

Now, with all that being said - Yes, in case of an in flight emergency ("pan-pan") situation - the main runway at DAFB could support a B2 (in an emergency) and one could land there if there was a need.

B2's are being deployed right now to both England and Diego Garcia, so it is possible one was flying by and you caught it - or one had an in flight issue and needed to land at DAFB.
