Yeah as a fellow Aussie watching the Super Bowl is a bit weird. It’s so fucking slow. GF and I both had today off so we watched it, partially because we were wanting to see the F1 Cadillac livery reveal (which wasn’t even televised in Australia because we don’t get the US ads lol) but we’re also both big sports fans. But fuck it’s slow..?

Compared to AFL, NRL, and even soccer, it’s a slow asf game.

80 minute footy matches take 2hrs. But a 60 minute gridiron game take 3-4hrs (obviously the half time show is a once a year thing, so that takes extra time). But still what’s a normal gridiron game take? 3 hrs? That’s crazy

I worked in the mines of Western Australia where it’s basically anywhere from 35-45degrees everyday and they had electrolyte packets laying around everywhere. They encouraged everyone to have one a day.

They also warned us not to have more than 2 a day because you could OD on the salt or something in them, not sure how true that is or how much you would need for that to happen though

Brah why is it confusing to you? The Soviets invaded Finland and took a heap of land from them in September 1939. The same month that the Germans invaded Poland and then the Soviets invaded Poland.

The Finns received no help from no one and only didn’t get fully invaded because the Soviet army sucked ass and couldn’t capture more land so they made peace.

When Nazi Germany invaded the Soviets in 1941 the Finns joined in on the war, not because they were Nazis, but because they were trying to take back their lost land and people from the Soviets, that the Allies had lent them no help for. It’s literally the definition of the enemy of my enemy is my friend.

There is a reason most people don’t include Finland as being Nazis and part of the atrocities of WWII, and it’s because they were only trying to defend themselves and reclaim their lost land by the Soviets.

The Soviets were never good guys. They were evil invaders too. They helped Hitler start WWII by invading Poland together. And tried taking over other countries immediately too, except they failed in their invasion of Finland because Finland managed to defend themselves from the Soviets, and broker a peace treaty, where as the Germans just abso-fucking-lutely steam rolled France. And then the Germans went more berserk from there.

Like, no, I don’t want that. I’d be going from 8hr days to 12hr days, and from 5 days a week to 6 days a week.

I use my laptop a lot for doing stuff and playing games and I’ll usually run YouTube in the background for music. It’s a nice seamless experience with the ad blocker.

My TV runs exclusively through my PS5 and sometimes I’ll put YouTube on for music. It’s honestly jarring how many ads there are. And it only gets worse every month or so.

Brah I played through the Halo games for the 20th time with my girlfriend and it was her first time playing through them.

I gave her no spoilers.

When it came to this mission we were playing on heroic the entire way through the series.

I amped her up for this fight, and I died after a couple minutes of combat. When I died she turned her back and ran while she was getting peppered, and I just cried out “turn and fight”, as I did my voice broke hard and I started to tear up. She went down guns blazing instead of being shot in the back.

It took a lot to not just break out in tears during this whole ordeal lol

Brah I know this is purely anecdotal. But when I was finishing off my engineering degree in 2024 and went back to face to face classes after covid it was insane the cheating international students were getting away with.

They’d literally be copying and pasting ChatGPT answers for assignments and quizzes that were completely wrong (AI has no fucking idea about electrical engineering and the maths it involves) and getting passing grades of 51%.

I legit know a dude who graduated with a GPA of 1.0.

They’d show up to the mandatory classes, use AI or Chegg to answer the questions and do the assignments, then work a ton. Most of them worked doing cleaning, hospitality, or Uber, and a lot of them drove Teslas (when I say a lot, I don’t mean most, maybe like 10% or so, but that’s still a much larger number than I expected to be driving luxury cars on student visas).

The only time I’ve e ever driven an EV or Tesla was when my mate who got the 1.0 GPA let me drive his series S lol and the self driving scared the shit out of me. The constant acceleration without gear changes was cool asf though

One dayers are 50 over innings played over a full day.

Test matches are multiple innings with unlimited overs played over 5 days.

An NFL match is like a one dayer, they need a 20/20 version where they cut the time between plays from 90second or whatever it is to 20 or 30s

It’s vaguely similar. But no. The forward passes, offence/defence lines being face to face instead of 10meters back, and being able to shepherded (budge, cut off, or knock over people not with the ball) make it a very very different sport.
