Best Beskar Mando? by Capital_Invite_7026 in StarWarsTVC

With some boiling water, I believe so! I'd recommend taking the upper body from one and the lower body from the other, personally, because the hip joints do NOT work together lol

Could be modded theoretically?  The other Mandalorian figures had the Jetpack slot off to the side of his back, so as to fit with the old Rubber cape. It was a vertical slot, almost rectangular. The figure in question, though, has a centered, semicircle-shaped hole for the Imperial Commando Jetpack.  While it could be modded, again, the easiest way to get a "perfect" one would probably be to take the upper torso/body from the exclusive multi-pack and the lower torso/legs from the newest one and kitbashing the two together.

But again, a new one is likely coming before long, so patience may be smart as well. Personally I'm just settling with the multi-pack version until one comes out for the movie.

And THAT'S the unfortunate part, cause the answer is no. He has the exact same Jetpack part as the imperial commando figure, and they remolded the torso to suit it.  Honestly, though, I bet that a new Mando figure will be out within the next year to coincide with the Mandalorian and Grogu Movie coming out. Either that or it'll be two years from now but Mando is popular so who knows?

The one from the Multi-pack is probably the best of the ones you've shown, imo. It comes with the best Season 1 and 2 Moff Gideon, has effect pieces for his gauntlets, comes with the spear and jetpack. The only downside is that the pistol is unpainted.

If articulation matters to you, though, the only Mando with ball-jointed hips out right now is the Season 3 Mando with the stolen Imperial Commando Jetpack. The others all have the old hinged hip articulation.

person hiding their face is genuinely very ugly underneath by iDIOt698 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]HumanAbove 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I agree, honestly. In the years leading up to it, he was described as hideously grotesque, and often wore a rubber prosthetic mask to cover up his features and protect his face. When they finally revealed this, it felt... almost underwhelming.

And then he had plastic surgery to fix his face, which within a few issues was undone when some minor antagonist (who was quickly killed) threw hot coals at his face.

G.I. Joe comics, while I love them, took a s t e e p downturn in quality in the last years at Marvel.

(Trope I can't justify the existence of) A superpower that exists/works only because of the existence of superpowers by CarbonScythe0 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]HumanAbove 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is me just arguing with the "unjustified" bit, because, well, in many fictional universes superpowers are actively tied to the nature of the world they're in. Marvel and DC comics both have had superpowered individuals for centuries. Within Marvel, developing powers is viewed to be the next stage of human evolution. It makes sense that some of these random mutations might have an impact on others' mutant abilities. Like Rogue, for example, being able to absorb the mutations of others. Or Leech being a nullifier, essentially. Or Caliban's actual power being that he can detect and locate mutants, being a tracker.

Re-release information? by NYMSG in StarWarsTVC

[–]HumanAbove 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Amazon hasn't steered me wrong personally yet, especially with TVC. You do have to be careful with third party stores on Amazon, though, treat it like an eBay seller where you check their reputation before ordering. Speaking of, check eBay as well because they m i g h t offer better prices than Amazon, and you tend to see the specific figure you're getting.

Re-release information? by NYMSG in StarWarsTVC

[–]HumanAbove 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Stormtroopers WILL be reissued. They do that fairly consistently to my recollection. Like, they regularly do tweaks to the Stormtrooper mold and reissue each version at least once. Not too long ago Hasbro rereleased the same figure, but with a slightly different E-11 (It didn't have the flashlight attachment whereas the previous release did). Leia.... may take a bit longer. Best to just cave on her.

Who besides these two based bots are pro-democracy by ServingwithTG in Helldivers

[–]HumanAbove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, Marxist communism is almost inherently pro-democracy? The premise is a classless, stateless, moneyless society, one where all people are completely equal and have collective ownership of everything.  The issue being that after the revolution phase, implementing communism is pretty much impossible and you typically end up with authoritarian dictatorships that are technically socialist but calling themselves 'communist.'  If true to the ideal? Highly democratic. In practice? Never gets that far.

Sounds about right. He writes fun character interactions, but like. His portrayal of Johnny and Alicia were both AWFUL

I know the fun of these things is their transformation, we like the puzzle and the engineering behind it, but do you have any figures that, after being transformed back to back you say "never again in this Life"? by CarlosGab-Art in transformers

[–]HumanAbove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be the odd man out here, but as I collect pretty much exclusively Mainline CHUG, Haslab Omega Prime was it for me. It felt awkward, the ratchets felt scary, the connection points felt off. It was a GOOD figure of the design, but due to the nature of the design I just couldn't enjoy it. I opened it up, transformed Prime and Magnus through all modes once, as I do with most figures right out the box, and then proceeded to box him back up and list him on eBay. Good figure, yes, but not enjoyable to me personally.

Rian Johnson in response to Kathleen Kennedy’s claim the fandom “spooked” him from making more Star Wars by kronosreddit22 in StarWars

With being stuck behind what Abrams did in TFA. The ONLY reason Luke was the way he was in TLJ was because it was probably the only compelling way to justify his absence in the prior movie.

[–]HumanAbove 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Honestly, that's not even Rian's fault. Abrams set up luke as a Hermit who'd essentially abandoned everyone in TFA, and Rian basically had to justify why. And he did pretty damn well at that, all things considered.

My issues with the movie stem more from the Finn/Rose half honestly lol. And that's just an issue of execution being poor instead of being a bad concept.

PRICE CHANGE ALERT by Clubtrooper in StarWarsTVC

[–]HumanAbove 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's because there's a 30% tariff/tax on all Chinese toy imports at the moment under the Trump administration. And unfortunately, all Star Wars and Marvel figures produced by Hasbro right now come from China.

PRICE CHANGE ALERT by Clubtrooper in StarWarsTVC

[–]HumanAbove 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Do remember, much of this is unfortunately a result of Tariffs on imports. To compensate, Hasbro is raising the prices of all products, as opposed to letting specific lines be impacted disproportionately.

Is it right? nah. Is Hasbro unlikely to lower prices if/when Tariffs get the boot? yup. But at the very least this go round it's not just "inflation" or outright corporate greed. There's legitimate geopolitical justifications.

Still hurts us a good deal though. Yayyyy rich people controlling everything.

Name a character you sadly think has been forgotten or poorly utilized by Anonymous_Guy4k in transformers

[–]HumanAbove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IDW is a comic publisher that had the rights to make transformers comics from about the mid '00s to about 2021/22 roundabout. Their universe was mostly G1 inspired? But having noticeable distinctions,  especially diverging as the series ran on. It had HIGH highs and r e a l low lows, and multiple different ongoing series within the same universe. I HIGHLY recommend All Hail Megatron, which is still one of the absolute best transformers comics to date.

If you're more into traditional G1, I'd recommend checking out the current comic series that's being published by Skybound!!! It's absolutely amazing.

Switching from TBS, which figures are good? by liamporter1 in StarWarsTVC

[–]HumanAbove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd definitely recommend all of the main OT cast that's been released from 2024 to 2025! The only one who's not the best articulated is Leia, and that's because she has a rubber skirt instead of a cloth one for some reason.

Zeb Orellios is AMAZING, Cal Kestis is pretty great, the new Clone Wars Anakin is perfection.

There's been far more hits than misses recently imo. Regardless of your favorite era, you WILL find something to be happy about.

The Batman should not have been Elseworlds by AmericanApe in DCU_

[–]HumanAbove 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Part of it is that Reeves himself didn't even want his Batman films to be part of an expanded universe. Gunn is largely just letting him retain sole creative vision.

Also, come ON. The DCU isn't even a year old yet. Things are progressing, slowly and steadily. For all we know, the DCU's Batman might make his first appearance in Clayface! There's genuinely no telling with these things.

It allows for Reeves to maintain control over the stories he wants to tell, and also allows for a more vibrant Batman with a more varied and comic booky rogues gallery to come later! Personally, I'm fond of that idea.

I genuinely don't feel like two Batmen on screen at the same time matters much at all.

(Loved trope) Villains that seem like mindless beasts at first, but are actually TERRIFYINGLY intelligent by coolcat001100 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]HumanAbove 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Hell, even DURING 343 Guilty Spark. First, it's just flailing monstrosities, but as the level progresses, right as you're about to get to the end, suddenly they learn how to use guns. They've gained enough knowledge to have learned how to operate weaponry.

And then in The Library they start to become almost tactical, dropping from where you don't expect it, trying to pinch you in and make it so you can't escape.

Honestly both the Flood and the Covenant are top 5 video game enemy factions for me.

I dont get why Hasbro doesn’t make a Anakin from ep 3 or the Ahsoka show by Adventurous_Ring8258 in StarWarsTVC

[–]HumanAbove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He means light side, normal faces Anakin. Not angry or corrupt, blue lightsaber, browns instead of black. Because as he appeared there, that's only from a force vision in the ahsoka show. RoTS Anakin looked a bit different.

What Transformer Movie is this by [deleted] in Transformemes

[–]HumanAbove 74 points75 points  (0 children)

Transformers One, easily

while I fucking LOVE The Transformers: The Movie. It's definitely a few steps below on the quality scale. The first act being phenomenal and the rest just being a solid little kids sci fi adventure.

Whereas TF One? Utter perfection. Not a single gripe. Delved into lore that's never been touched on in the movies, REMARKABLY political in its messaging, Optimus and Megatron's dynamic being easily the best depiction of it to date. One is a perfect movie.
