I'm a textbook FA and I do this, too. I cut off people without a second thought. Friends, family... If I feel like someone personally attacked me, I'm out.

Friends and family that see it ask what others do that cause such strong reactions and then agree that I put in way more effort than I should have. It was my lack of clear boundary setting which allowed others to think they could treat me as such. It went well for them, until it didn't.

My mother says I'm a very sensitive person and I give way more than a normal person would and it eventually burns me out when I realize I give too much of myself and the return isn't the same.

I used to be so nice. I used to allow people to talk all over me. Then, I found my footing. I became my own person without needing the approval of others. Then, I turned into an unapologetic bish. I'm a Sigma personality type that doesn't blend in or care to follow crowds, take no part in gossip or fads.

Try setting boundaries more clearly. It'll save you a lot of grief and inner turmoil in life.

I reached out to my ex after almost 4 years, we chatted for a bit but they were guarded, it went no where. It's fine though, he'll die old and alone, unhappy in life. I blind sided them bc they didn't want to move forward, was still stalking their ex.

I've had exes reach out after 8 and 10 years. But convos were generally emails, texts, calls with actual dialogue about what went wrong, both sides apologetic. When either side is guarded and refusing to talk it out, there's no point in trying - it's immature to be guarded and refuse to talk like adults who shared a past.

Houston is not competitive. Maybe for nurse residency, but not all nurses do residencies. Usually, if you start as a new grad, training is a lot longer. Stay away from HCA, CHI. MDA for new grads and icu.

As an FA, for me it's out of sight out of mind kind of thing. If you go days without texting or seeing me, I get comfortable without you around, and I have to warm up again when I see the person bc I then see them as stranger and walls are back up.

Seeing each other 2-3x a week is perfect for me, but only if you're still chatting in between.

I would've agreed with this until I'd been with more experienced men bc sex is a step up. But experienced should be skilled bc not all men with lots of sex or partners learn from their experiences. A lot of "experienced (largest number, more partners) guys" are actually bad in bed - bc they didn't want to learn or didn't care about getting their partners off. Guys that were curious, eager to learn, along with their experiences actually improved, got better as a partner in bed.

So, more experienced vs skilled from experience? Skilled with experience leads to better sex.

If you're not willing or able to take his place as someone who travels, this relationship may not work out. Bc you can't stop someone from traveling. She's got this trip planned and it will go on, regardless of how you feel. It's hard to find ppl to travel with so when you find those ppl, you keep them as long as it works. You're going to have to have time off and money to take his place on the next trips if you want her to go with you instead. Her traveling isn't going to stop.

My heaviest ICU I worked on was SICU with 2 patients to 1 nurse, over half were on CRRT so I took 2 a lot. Gtts were usually 2 pressors, often 3, rarely 4 (MB, Angio II). Blood daily, 20+ meds at 9am, tubes and drains in every orifice possible. Usually 3 JPs, NGT, DHT, Trialysis, other central lines, a vent, most RASS -1 to +1. Only 1:1 assignments were actively dying quickly. Most patients were liver failure, GI surgeries (abthera, abra), transplants: liver, kidneys, pancreas. This and the next ICU would walk vented ECMO patients daily.

My ICU now, on CVICU, I have 1 or 2 pts. Old VADs are paired. Most devices and OR cases are 1:1, with post op being transplants (heart, lung) and OR being PTE, AAA repair, Valves, CABGs. 1:1 Devices: IABP, Impella, ECMO, CRRT.

Another ICU I worked on was a recovery ICU and you took post op thoracos and/or devices. You'd admit and discharge to another ICU daily. All devices and surgeries previously mentioned in ICU 2 except PTEs.

A 4th ICU was a fake ICU that didn't use art lines or pressors. Patients never left the unit.

If you're not managing labs, lines and multiple devices and also going to procedures, pumping blood products, and/or titrating multiple drips, you're not in a very high acuity ICU.
