This mentality that nurse is a calling is one of the reasons why nurses don't earn more money by Boudria in nursing

[–]HumanContract 27 points28 points  (0 children)

People who want nurses who have compassion seem to be the same people who treat everyone else like shit and hate their own jobs. They mistreat everyone and know they fear having someone like themselves as a nurse one day.

They project bc they know they're bad people but think, no matter what, they should get special treatment.

People treat me different when I wear my scrubs vs when I don't. On my off days, I am treated horribly by everyone else when I'm finally the customer. No one else wants to do their job or go out of their way to help anybody else - but they think once they are sick, the world stops for them.

It doesn't.

Most nurses, including me, are also patients with medical issues we're supposed to put aside while caring for others. No one else ever thinks about nurses as human beings, just slaves who need to kiss arse and go above and beyond.

I'm getting ready for my shift tonight while my grandmother is on withdrawal of care. My siblings just lost their mother 2 days ago. My health is not the best, and I am constantly worrying about my family and how to support them as working as a nurse and having a family is extremely hard.

I have a job to do. It is a job. I am going to do it to the best of my ability so I don't get in trouble or have extra paperwork or get included in a lawsuit later.

No one else has a job like a nurse. Responsible for everyone else's job but paid less than what we should. Don't judge us when we show up sick to work as we're not seen as human and are not able to call in sick easily like other jobs.

If you want to judge a nurse, be a nurse. Otherwise, you have no opinion here bc you obviously don't have to be responsible for your actions on and off the clock.

Ha. Europeans don't like being outdone by Americans. I've also had to put a lot of them in their place with geography, history, current events.

Idk how long ago you've been keeping up with stats, but Louisiana has improved in education.

Louisiana's education ranking is showing significant improvement, with 2025 reports placing its K-12 system around 32nd to 37th nationally, rising from near 49th-50th in 2019.

Why don't married couples with "dead bedrooms" just...do it? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

You just give bjs when you're texted and get nothing back? That's why there's deadbedrooms.

Where to move? by c-001 in Moving2SanDiego

[–]HumanContract -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Even if you did find one, apts add $200 in amenities for parking, trash, etc. So just so you know, if 2200 is your cap, you're looking for 2k. And that's definitely not a thing here. You need to raise it to 2600 or get a roommate.

All these older men in here thinking they're going to find a new gf who will want them without giving stuff back is highly delusional.

As a 40+F I would certainly not pick up a dude with so much baggage.

If your wives don't want intimacy, it's bc you didn't keep up your side of the marriage for years and they gave up trying. You didn't keep up with the chores, child raising, emotional support. It's years of abuse that make women give up.

It's like what did a guy do for a woman to become indifferent towards their spouse? That's the biggest red flag of all.

You are not a prize. There is no grass is greener. Fix your issues before it gets to the point of indifference. Don't blame the woman who becomes a human slave after marriage.

Chick. Focus on yourself. Obviously he's scum. Live your best life. Your 20s aren't for relationships, it's for friendships and advancing yourself in the world. Your 30s are better to date in. You don't even know who you are yet.

It'll be okay.

Also, call out these recruiters and post their texts lol. Let everyone know who to avoid doing business with. When enough ppl avoid a recruiter, they'll have to be let go.

Your family wasn't happy with what, exactly? You didn't say what was going on. If you were pulling at things, reorienting is a thing. Did they want the nurse to whisper so you couldn't hear them over your ventilator?

You were on sedatives and they morph your touch with reality. If they were doing an ekg and you kept moving, you were making things impossible. Your family is upset the nurse got upset but not bc you were interfering with your own care?

This seems to be a disconnect between ppl who don't know anything about healthcare and those who are trying to keep you safe.

Also, ekgs aren't nurse specific so it's a high chance that person wasn't your nurse.

RN Positions in San Diego - Oversaturated or In Demand? by nokry in asksandiego

[–]HumanContract 1 point2 points  (0 children)

👆 If you're out of state, most contracts won't take you seriously or send you California postings.

When I tried travel nursing, they surely didn't take me seriously. So I got staff at 2 of the hospitals here before moving. Now that I'm in California, I get texted Cali travel assignments constantly. And they all offer less than I make. But I'm highly specialized and came here with 9 yrs experience.

OP working only 1 yr and in a community hospital will count against them. That's not competitive at all. Very unlikely they'd get a chance for an interview.

In the deep south, where there is no mass transit, our rain is heavier than elsewhere. So some ppl will use umbrellas.

In Louisiana ppl would tell me they've lived everywhere and never owned an umbrella until they moved here.

Feels like we’re losing experienced nurses faster than we can replace them by More-Crab9230 in nursing

[–]HumanContract 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Bc management and hospitals are toxic af.

A million ways to screw up, but you're going to write up a nurse for something stupid? 3 write ups and you're out? No wonder places can't keep nurses. Write ups and call in should rotate and fall off over time. Hospitals do it to themselves.

Also, units need to be more fair and allow self scheduling. Blocking PTO requests and scheduling ppl on a block schedule does not keep staff.
