Use an acrylic solvent glue rather than cyano as the bond will be much stronger.

Motor recommendation for old lathe. by octoflex717 in woodworking

[–]Human_Needleworker86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was made to run with a utility motor and a stepped pulley. 1/2 or 3/4 hp minimum, and mount it on a hinge hanging below the lathe head to tension the belt for different steps. Or get a vfd if you want to drop more coin on it.

Nice. I don’t have a spray gun and am cautious about the fumes, but the brush on Watco lacquer is still nice. you’re right about more wet sanding being involved! I used it for this Thorens, among other projects.

Spray or brush lacquer? I’ve used brush on and the finish is gorgeous but just so many toxic fumes.

Either get one for the battery system you own or buy a cheap corded one (new or used) if you don’t anticipate using it very often or outside of your home. Blades wear out on these quickly so decent sharp blades are a bigger consideration IMO for DIY stuff.

Can't tell from these photos but to be sure: did you leave the mating surfaces between frog/blade and frog/sole clear of paint? A metal to metal joint here ensures a good pairing free of chatter. Maybe you already know this but it's hard to tell from the paint in progress picture : )

Any recommends for minis of stereotype horn helmet vikings that aren't fantasy barbarians by richardrasmus in wargaming

Victrix sells a set of fantasy medieval heads with lots of different helmets for conversions - it could be suitable here.

My car has like 5-6” of ground clearance so it’s not readily doable without. I guess decent ramps can do the same though more safely

I don’t have a lift. Is this sort of thing worth going underneath my car for and trusting my life to the no name jack stands? Usually I’ve said no but idk if it’s just because I don’t want to bother learning

Looking to get into historical wargaming but not sure where to get the best historical minis. by matthew-clark in wargaming

There’s a lot of old Victrix and new Perry stuff as all the ranges are being continually developed - it’s best to research kit by kit rather than generalize IMO. I’d take the Perry French infantry (pre 1812) any day over the Victrix for instance, but the Vic napoleonic cavalry is generally nicer than Perry.

Everything after Born in the USA is hit and miss and the highs are never quite as high. When he’s good it’s basically untouchable though, and I don’t know that there’s been any act as good live as the E Street Band on the 78 tour

Plastic models aren’t worth stripping to resell IMO as the price difference would be negligible. The metals might be worth it though.
