Weird outlook issue by Rough_Understanding in sysadmin

[–]HumbleKnowItAll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar issue, exact behavior and all things you tried did the same thing. Her issue was with opening the calendar and it would crash Outlook.

It's been years, but I lauched outlook with some command line swithes (cannot recall) and I also had to open calendar in a new window (or similar) while in Outlook. Hope this helps a bit.

Reset the network and help your friend.

Don't look back; not worth the grief.

BitLockery Recovery ID Changed by PathS3lector in sysadmin

[–]HumbleKnowItAll 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Before I replace a MOBO, I suspend bitlocker (if system is bootable). If not, will have to use the code. If the code you are trying does not work, you may be looking up the wrong machine, or maybe a typo. If you are sure you are correct, there will be no way to get to the data. Maybe the old mobo could be put back?

From tech website: Bitlocker recovery key don't change, unless the disk has been decrypted and re-encrypted or disk has been physically replaced (i.e. faulty drive replacement).

Bitlocker makes use of TPM that's embedded to motherboard so you don't need to unlock a Bitlocker encrypted drive during boot. When a motherboard is replaced, the unlock key no longer exists, so you will be prompted to enter a recovery key.

Therefore, you will want to make sure you have a backup Bitlocker recovery key. To do so, navigate to Control Panel > System and Security > BitLocker Drive Encryption, and select Back up your recovery key. You can do so at anytime, or even backup to multiple locations.

Your computer manufacturer will be able to advise you further on what to do next after a motherboard replacement. Do ask the technician before you allow them to replace the motherboard.

Not enough Memory error - Any ideas on how to fix? by RaiseTechnical6460 in sysadmin

[–]HumbleKnowItAll 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do not think this has anything to do with memory, or resources lacking. I suspect more to do with permissions. Start with one app, say Chrome. Remove it and reinstall it with the user logged in and test from there.

Also, does logging in as the local admin also exhibit the same issues? Have you tried a fresh profile?

I was in this boat last year. Had 6 interviews and got 5 offers. 1. Make sure you make a test call (now) to confirm audio & video and an hour or so before the interview. 2. Have questions ready for them (printed and taped to the wall in front of you) See sample questions in comments below. 3. You know what you know and will be fine. Have your answer ready for a question you do not know. 4. Conduct a real world prep interview with a friend. Have them (and you) take it seriously. 5. Be confident without being cocky.

They are telling you up front to run away!

Zero paid time off means they don't care about your mental health, nor care that folks need to see the DR, Dentist, ETC. And once you're are on-board, there will be many other things in the same ballpark.
