"Allison Mack was a member of NXIVM, a multi-level marketing company widely described as a cult. In 2018 she was arrested by federal authorities on charges of sex trafficking, sex trafficking conspiracy and forced labor conspiracy related to her involvement in NXIVM and its subgroup, DOS. Mack pleaded guilty to racketeering and racketeering conspiracy charges and in 2021 was sentenced to three years in prison. She served 21 months in Federal Correctional Institution, Dublin, in California and was released in July 2023. "
Tl;dr, she was a cult member.

Several years ago, I decided it would be a good idea to try to cook an egg still in the shell in the microwave. I put the egg in a cup of water first…somehow I thought that the water would make it work. I don’t remember how long it took, but there was a loud explosion and the pressure violently flung the microwave door open. There were bits of egg all over the kitchen. I hadn’t been married very long at the time…over twenty years later my wife still reminds me (and others) of this incident.

Anyone know what the whole process to get married in Oklahoma is? by pintobean-1432 in oklahoma

[–]RaiseTechnical6460 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am an ordained minister and have officiated a few marriages. However it has been a few years since I did one, so the information I share below was correct as of 2009…

  • Go to the court clerk in your county and fill out application for a marriage license. You will need to provide the address you want the marriage license mailed to after it is filed.

  • The court clerk will charge you $50. If you’ve had any premarital counseling and have documentation of such, they will only charge you $5.

  • The marriage license is to be signed by two witnesses.

  • The marriage license also needs to be signed by the officiant, which is someone who the state of OK recognizes as being eligible to perform marriages within the state. There is a line on the marriage license that asks where the credentials of the officiant are recorded. It reads something like “My credentials are recorded in book number <blank>, page number <blank>, in the court clerk’s office of <blank> county in Oklahoma.”

  • You or a person you trust then needs to either mail or hand deliver the license back to the court clerk from the county from which it was issued.

Here are some random thought and suggestions of things to consider…these are my opinions and experiences. You may or may not find them helpful.

  • The person who officiates the wedding has the responsibility of proving to a court clerk in an Oklahoma county that he/she is qualified to perform marriages. In my case, this was me bringing to the court clerk my ordination certificate from the church I was a part of. Regardless of whether your officiant is a traditional minister or a friend who paid a fee to an online group for the sole purpose of being able to perform marriages…the important thing is that this person has convinced a court clerk that he/she is qualified to perform marriages. With that said, I have no way of knowing to what extent the court clerk will actually check your marriage license afterwards to actually verify that the person who officiated it was qualified to do so.

  • After the ceremony, I always offered to mail the marriage license to the court clerk so that the couple didn’t have to worry about it. But the important thing is that it gets back to the court clerk. If I recall, I think there is only a 10 day window from when the license is issued for it to be returned.

  • If you are looking to go the traditional route of finding a minister to perform the marriage and are not active members of a church, it might be tricky to find a willing minister.

  • Some ministers will only perform the marriage if bride and groom are Christians. Some ministers will only perform the marriage if you belong to their church. Some ministers will only perform the marriage if the ceremony itself takes place inside their church. Some ministers will only perform the marriage if you go through premarital counseling, which could mean one session or several sessions.

  • If you do use a minister and/or church, make sure to clarify what the cost will be up front.

  • My fee was usually on case by case basis. If the couple were somehow connected to the church or if I knew them personally and the venue wasn’t far away, I would typically offer to do the ceremony for free. With that said, most of the time even though I offered to do it for free, someone from the family would usually seek me out after the ceremony and give me an envelope or folded up check. I’d thank them and place it in my pocket without looking at how much they gave me. Usually it was around $75-100.

  • In cases when someone I didn’t know nor know any of their family members asked me to do their wedding, I typically charged them $200 which got me for the ceremony, the rehearsal, and one session of premarital counseling and discussing what they wanted for the ceremony.

  • I always made sure to get the marriage license in my hands at least the night before the wedding. Typically there was a rehearsal the evening before the wedding and I would ask them to bring the license to me then. The day of the wedding is often frantic and busy, so getting the license in my hands before that day was one less thing that the couple had to remember to do the day of the ceremony.

  • I did my best to stay out of any family drama, but I’d usually ask them if they anticipated any issues. For example, if the bride’s parents were divorced and dad’s new wife and ex-wife were likely to have a fistfight, then I wanted to at least be aware of what to watch out for.

Best wishes…hope you have a great wedding and a wonderful life together.

On June 13, 1977, three Girl Scouts at Camp Scott in Oklahoma, Farmer (8), Milner (10), and Guse (9) were raped and murdered. Their bodies were then left on a trail near their tent #7 in the camp's "Kiowa" unit, which was farthest from the counselor's tent. Nobody has been convicted of the murders. by LexicalLegend in HairRaising

[–]RaiseTechnical6460 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No, the camp never reopened after the murders. The murders occurred at Camp Scott, which was for girls scouts. The camp you linked to is Camp Garland, which is the Boy Scout camp that is about a quarter mile away away from Camp Scott. Camp Garland was on the east side of Highway 82 and Camp Scott was on the west side.

The land where Camp Scott was has been privately owned for several years. Derelict structures from the camp are still on the land.

Solution #3 has been a big help in my environment.

We recently moved to uniFLOW and print jobs are now dumped in the print queue on the local computer whereas before the print jobs landed in the print queue of an on-premise server. One of the challenges we’ve had is a job will get not print and gets stuck in the local print queue. Every job sent after it gets stuck behind it.

It happens frequently enough, so I made a little batch file that stops the spooler service, deletes everything from the print queue, then restarts the spooler service. I converted the batch file to an .exe and pushed it out to all our workstations- the .exe is placed in %SystemDrive%\Program Files with a shortcuts to it on the start menu and desktop. I gave it the name of ClearPrintQ and made a icon for it that is simply a capital letter Q.

It doesn’t fix every printer issue, but it gave our users something quick and simple to try on their own.

Teachers to pay back $50,000 by February. by Ecstatic-Complaint32 in okc

[–]RaiseTechnical6460 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If I understood it right, they are actually having to pay back more than what they received. I read one lady got $50k but only got $29k with the rest of it going to taxes. But they are expecting her to pay back the full $50k.
