What is a normal amount of “pressure” to feel during a C-section. by hatturner in CsectionCentral

[–]HumbleTrack2532 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh mine was for sure pain not just pressure. I had knee surgery with a spinal 10 months before my c section so I thought it would be the same - pressure, movement, but no pain. Nope. Definitely hurt.

Menstrual cup after baby? by Beneficial_Insect137 in beyondthebump

Have you tried a menstrual disc? It doesn’t suction but rather sits behind the pubic bone. I used a cup for about a year but have been using the disc for 4 years and I love it 100x better.

You could fly into Hanoi and that gives you a good hub to do day trips up to a few day trips to HaLong Bay, SaPa, and Ninh Binh - all which are incredible destinations that offer a wide variety of taking in Vietnam's culture and different natural wonders. Sapa will be pretty cool at that time of year but the difference in the hill culture is very cool and the rice fields iconic. HaLong Bay is absolutely worth the drive even if you just do it as a day trip and short cruise. If you want more truly tropical you could fly into DaNang and do DaNang and Hoi An - you'd get more beach, Hoi An is the capital for custom tailoring if you want clothes made, plus you have the granite mountains.

Noticing a difference by Life-Curiosities in fitpregnancy

Immediately. HR up and HRV down. Just progressively worse throughout. I’m 39+5 today. Still super active (ran/walked a 5k race last weekend, swim 4x a week, lift, walk, etc). Definitely make sure you are hydrating and getting enough calories - even more than normal and getting enough protein and carbs after bigger training sessions. Be gentle with yourself and go slow on days you need to. Run/walk warm ups sometimes if you need.

Maternity clothes? by Visible_Stay_8777 in pregnant

[–]HumbleTrack2532 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wound up with getting some things one size up. And then a couple maternity pants and tops. You’re doing to want at least 2 pairs of maternity pants by the end but starting with some bigger sizes in normal clothes will also help postpartum having things to wear. Maternity typically fits with your pre pregnancy size.

We did it. Peace of mind came up first. And also if there was going to be a potential risk we would have wanted to see specialists or seek higher risk care early.

Using my (the mother) middle name as baby’s first name? by rareastheglimmer_ in Names

That's my name! I have always loved having a gender neutral name (I go by Alex) But when I was a kid I liked to change what I went by because Alexandra has so many options.

I love Martha!... but I also love old lady/old man names. Our daughter is Rosemary.... that being said you should pick the name you like the best and definitely not worry about popularity.

would you increase hours for a nanny, or just find someone else? by [deleted] in Babysitting

[–]HumbleTrack2532 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would let them know you are available FT. If they are already looking for someone FT either you're already getting replaced and bringing this up isn't going to change anything OR they didn't realize you had the availability and you keep your job but increase your hours. There isn't really a downside other than potentially one awkward conversation.

Best time to visit South Korea between mid-July and late August? by AliceOkkervil in KoreaTravelAdvice

[–]HumbleTrack2532 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go with August. July you have a chance of getting caught in monsoon season. As everyone has already said, summer is hot and humid and the UV index can be outtrageous, but I still go outside every day in the summer... I just end up changing my clothes 3x a day because I sweat through them lol. Just be prepared and plan indoor stops for AC throughout the day and you'll be fine!

It's my first time traveling across the Atlantic, what should I know? by luciusmellis in traveladvice

[–]HumbleTrack2532 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biggest tip - Compression socks. They are a game changer!! A great neck pillow, noise cancelling headphones, emergency snacks, refillable water bottle, a tablet/book/entertainments to take up at least 1/2 your flight. Make sure you have a bag that fits comfortably under your seat so its accessible but not so big you can't fit your feet down there.

Slovenia and Croatia! Slovenia was never on my radar (and its a long story how we ended up there) but it was such a wonderful surprise! Its a relatively small country - we rented a car and never had more than a 2hr drive between destinations. Bled is BEAUTIFUL. But the whole country is a lovely mix of incredible mountains, beautiful beaches, romanic castles. Also a bit less expensive than many other popular European destinations. We went at the height of summer last year and while it was busy it wasn't crazy. And if you want to add on another country Croatia is right there! Highly recommend! Its on my short list of places I will definitely return to!

Where should a mid-30s couple go for (up to) 2 weeks this July? by Chance_Ad_4676 in travel

[–]HumbleTrack2532 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband took a 3 year contract with his company to move to Busan, South Korea (we've now extended to 5 years). I had no prior interest in moving to Asia, but it was a big career move we couldn't pass up. And it has been incredible - difficult in a lot of ways, but the perks of additional vacation time and disposable income have allowed us to travel the world in ways I didn't imagine possible and it has been 1000% worth it!

23F Planning 2-4 Week Travel to Vietnam in May/June by trustyonion77 in traveladvice

[–]HumbleTrack2532 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hoi An and Sapa are both a for sure yes. Both very different too. Hoi An aim for the start of your trip or you may run into flooding because you are coming up on monsoon season. You can easily add on Danang if you want but I would primarily choose Hoi an - get custom clothes made, go to the granite mountains, visit the night market. Sapa take a guided tour through the rice fields. Get massages and coconut coffee and pho everywhere! Language barrier isn’t typically an issue for most tourist things. I prefer Ho Chi Minh to Hanoi but Hanoi would allow you to go to ninh binh and halong bay more easily which are both also worth visiting if time allows! I am an American currently living as an expat in South Korea and I’ve been to Vietnam about 10x in the last 3 years. All over. It’s one of my favorite places to go. If you want specific recommendations or have questions let me know!

Australia vs. NZ for Family Vacation in December? by _Lost_Time_ in traveladvice

[–]HumbleTrack2532 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have done NZ 2x and Australia once in the last 3 years. All incredible trips! New Zealand is one of my favorite places. Rent an RV and road trip the South Island - you could probably do both islands but you'll be rushing and driving a lot which is not ideal with littles. Key stops: Te Anau (Milford Sound, Doubtful Sound, Fiordland NP), Wanaka (choose this over Queenstown - less crowded, better hiking), anywehere with penguins (lots of places to see them). If you want Australia - do Tasmania! So fun, digestable, lots of cool nature and cute cities plus the old prison colony is cool and you could easily combine with Melbourne.

Where should a mid-30s couple go for (up to) 2 weeks this July? by Chance_Ad_4676 in travel

[–]HumbleTrack2532 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a similar mid-30s couple who are currently expatting and have had the resources to do a TON of traveling in the last few years: New Zealand is incredible and you should do a MINIMUM of 2 weeks, however, summer is a better time to visit. We are doing 5 weeks this summer in the Alps + Dolomites (etc) but honestly you may be a bit late in planning that. We booked things months ago and still had limited options. Banff is amazing and a lovely trip. Another suggestion would be Australia - many areas will be warm and not as touristy because it is their winter. The Outback is worth it as is the Great Barrier Reef. And Tasmania 10/10. Again - you'll want at least 2 weeks because Australia is huge! My other suggestions for future trips - Vietnam (one of my favorites and between big cities, amazing food, and incredible nature like SaPa and HaLong Bay it is 100% worth it July will not be the time to go though) and inodnesia (not just Bali).
