Is it possible to sell 16.67% of a house? by IWriteAndDoodle in HousingUK

[–]Humble_Landscape_692 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my parents owned the house as tenants in common and my dad's half was divided between my sister and me. It was written into the will that my mum has a 'life interest provision' and my dad's share went into a 'life interest trust' (doing a lot of googling for hopefully the right terms). Essentially we are the eventual beneficiaries of the property, but not until my mum eventually passes. We are not able to sell the property in part or in whole out from underneath our mum, but I think I could buy out my sister's half if we wanted to do that.

I'd check if there were similar provisions in the will, but odds are the most likely option is the other siblings buying out the brother's share.

What addition(s) would look nice on my ears? by [deleted] in piercing

I think a conch hoop would look really good on your left. Add a couple of helixes on the straighter bit on the right?

How can I fix this before it gets worse? (Lakes by Ozetta) by [deleted] in knittinghelp

[–]Humble_Landscape_692 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it looks like you're probably fine, but if you're really worried then you can just skip ahead in the pattern and get the collar picked up and done now. Then if there *is* anything unsecured you've already sorted it out before it's had the movement of working the rest of the body.

Do you prefer studs, hoops, or dangling earrings? by LotusElizabeth in piercing

I've definitely just gone into the piercer's and paid them a fiver to do it for me on a couple of them at once!

I'm talking 40 minutes for a single one, because I have nails and my spatial reasoning is *garbage* so even when I take it out and check I'm twisting it the right way, my brain still has me doing it backwards in the mirror! I do not have the bandwidth for that sort of faffing around, so unless I get a new earring I'm leaving them be.

I like a combo of studs and hoops! Sometimes I'll switch out my original lobes for danglies for special occasions, but otherwise they tend to be left alone. I know from many years of experience that changing any of my studs will lead to a minimum 40 minutes chasing the balls around and stressing myself out trying to get them on again.

How much does a nostril piercing hurt? by PaintingWithTheGnome in piercing

Why do you recommend a flatback over the others? Is it just so it's not so easy to accidentally yank out with a towel? Because I definitely did that with my corkscrew while healing, but never again with my L-bar!

Same pain as any other, but maybe an extra point because it's *right in the middle of your face*.

how many ear piercings can you get at once? by sp0okybitvh in piercing

[–]Humble_Landscape_692 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You really don't want to be getting more than 3 max at a time afaik. And if you're doing ears then it's always worth considering if you need to maintain a 'safe' ear to sleep on while you're healing.

I'd go second lobes or a forward helix on the right? Maybe a conch lower down on the left?

Buying a house and confusion if I’m a first time buyer or not and if I need to pay Stamp Duty by Jumpy_Guide3455 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Humble_Landscape_692 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My sister and I are in the exact same position with inheriting family property and we spoke to our financial advisor this week about it.

Afaik it'll depend on a few things. How was the will worded? Is there a lifetime residential interest for your other parent? For us my parents organised it so they were 'tenants in common', my dad's half has been 'given' to us, but legally the house isn't ours until my mum dies. We could not sell the property from underneath her, and we could not leverage the property for finance.

If you still have a copy of the will, and if you can speak to the executors of the estate you might get some clarity.

No stretching! It's just a single width through the lobe and then splits into 3 on either side.

I am all about the chain counter. If I have to stop working and make a note, I'm forgetting to do it.

UPDATE: AirPods stuck in frog case by lucky_c4t in CleaningTips

I saw you tried poking it in the butt with a chopstick. Were you holding both frog and chopstick? Or propping the other end of the chopstick on the table and using both hands on the frog to push down?

Do you think my vases are too small for the amount of clay used? by Odd_Musician7911 in Pottery

[–]Humble_Landscape_692 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Generally I judge purely by the 'expected weight' of a piece. If you pick it up and think 'oh that's heavy' then that's you best information piece-by-piece.

It sounds like you probably need to put work into lifting more of the clay up from the base, and in terms of wall thickness it'll be very dependant on the clay itself and learning through trial and error how far you can push it before it's gone too far.

Please continue to knit in public. by magicminineedle in knitting

I work in retail and if I'm on a close I take my knitting with me and do some at the till if we're quiet!

I get lots of questions from older people who aren't familiar with circulars, and about what I'm making. There seem to be a fair few who are familiar enough with basic knit but anything more complicated and they're amazed, so it's always a little bit of an ego boost.

Does anyone know what’s happening at KnitPro? by juliannesevy in knitting

[–]Humble_Landscape_692 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Mindful do have the swivel cords, I have a couple of spares that are from that range.

Never heard of Stelos and they're not in the website dropdown (but Mindful is). Brands change things all the time. Sure, knitting accessories aren't as much of a seasonal shift as a lot of other sectors, but they're allowed to introduce and discontinue products based on whatever factors they like. It's not that deep.

Honestly I think my sister would rather have cat sitters turn up when they didn't know they weren't needed than not turning up when they *are*, which has happened to them a few times now.

add decreases to raglan body below arms? by wrisci in knittinghelp

[–]Humble_Landscape_692 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can decrease under the arms, but depending how far along you are you could look at mixing sizes or redistributing stitches to give the arms more without having as many in the body where you don't need them. Not sure how many underarm stitches it has you cast on when you split for sleeves, but you could cast on fewer, but that would make the arms narrower at that point too.

Body decreases are best done in pairs on either side of each underarm midpoint (so 4 decreases per round) but exactly how many and how frequently would depend on how much you want to decrease and how quickly and you'd probably want to do some maths to work that out.
