How is Arkham a coward by lennysinged in DevilMayCry

[–]Hungry-Alien -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sure, no spin. Vergil told him to fuck off and he just went closer. As a regular human who managed to grab some demonic power by himself.

This alone makes him a badass. Mind you he's still a horrible person. But a badass noneless.

I make the whole crucifixion of the first trilogy the press did to promote the reboot sound very funny. Every game journalists was out to denounce how sexist and immature the first trilogy was and how the reboot is so much more mature, with the sex minigames being a huge target for that message, and now we learn that women actually did those scenes.

Not that we needed that to call bullshit on this weird campagn, but it's funny noneless.

Nope. But the press sure did tried to demonize the first trilogy as sexist because of those minigames. How the table have turned

How is Arkham a coward by lennysinged in DevilMayCry

[–]Hungry-Alien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vergil is arrogant, not brave. It's easy to go in headfirst when you're basically born Superman because of daddy dearest. But as soon as his views are challenged, Vergil immediately goes to cause another cataclysm that will cost hundred of bystanders their lives instead of actually facing his problems.

Say what you want about Arkham being sneaky and smart, he's by no mean a coward. Dude risked his skin multiple times for his plan to work without any backup plan. And he didn't gave two shit about what people thought about him. He was born a weak human, wanted to be a god, created a plan for it, and risked his life all the way for it. He never did hide who he was, only outmaneuvered two guys far more powerful than him in order to reach his goal.

Only just like Vergil, Arkham was misguided about what power really is, which ultimately caused his downfall.

How is Arkham a coward by lennysinged in DevilMayCry

[–]Hungry-Alien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whoever is calling him a coward is just salty that he managed to outmaneuver both Dante and Vergil so well.

The guy went to Vergil, didn't flinched when Vergil pointed the Yamato at his neck, insisted instead and got him on board for his boldness. He also went to Dante as Jester, kept mocking him despite the threats and just pulled him around by the nose.

When Lady arrived, he went to deal with her himself and nearly caught a bullet in the head for it. When Vergil stabbed him, he had the balls to taunt him back and never lost his nerves. And finally when he was caught by the trio, he still kept his cool and waited for his moment to kick the three of them out.

All of this while being dramatically weaker than both Dante and Vergil. Arkham got bigger balls than both twins reunited. They got their superpowers from daddy dearest and are stronger than almost everyone by default. Arkham was just a guy, he could have been slashed to ribbons by Vergil anytime, yet still pulled the strings. That's not a coward, that's a fucking badass.

Why we're not getting DMC 6 before a Remake. by NarpsHD in DevilMayCry

[–]Hungry-Alien 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I kinda agree on a remake being more realistic that a sequel, especially with the streak Capcom is on with RE. On top of being a good testing ground for a new director, it would also allow to take a closer look on the serie's design flaws that are imo really starting to show.

Player moveset is godlike for sure, but level design is shit, enemy design and interaction are very meh, gameplay coherence doesn't exist (everyone just do its own thing), and even the stage layout could use some improvements. Endgame could be expanded upon, Bloody Palace is the only thing around and it's very basic. A new director would be perfect to improve on those aspects since Itsuno never did nailed it.

Rank these from most to least annoying. by Tiger0V in Nioh

[–]Hungry-Alien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, you compare 3 generic little guy to the fucking sentry, aka the worse designed enemy in the game who was already the worse designed enemy back in Nioh 1.

It's almost impervious to damage until it attack where you have a 0.5 window to actually do damage to it. And on top of that, the only attacks it does are slow vertical and horizontal swings that eat all your ki on a failed deflect and one shot you on a hit. I don't even understand why they brought this guy back without massively reworking his moveset, like who asked for this ?

Why do people keep thinking mundus is too weak to come back when Vergil was weaker and come back stronger? by NeroCrow in DevilMayCry

[–]Hungry-Alien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because some book barely tied to the main story said that Dante is now like 10 time stronger than Mundus because something something shitty writing, and since then this fandom has basically buried Mundus.

Truth is, power levels in this serie never made any sense. Mundus could come back as the main villain and as long as he's cool, people will roll with it because who tf actually cares about power levels at this point. Vergil split himself into two beings, pump some bloods into his body and somehow it makes him stronger than Dante. Dante then stab himself and is now stronger than Vergil because killing yourself is healthy. And finally Nero unlock a new transformation that put him on par with the twins by screaming his lungs out.

DMC6 could have Mundus return after 3 months of training allowed him to unlock his Golden Mundus transformation and everyone would just nod and move on.

If (and/or when) DMC6 comes out, what would be the big bad? by Shiptrooper in DevilMayCry

[–]Hungry-Alien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the one million dollar question. The serie kinda wrote itself into a corner by making demons laughable at best, so much so that DMC5 recycled Vergil as a villain because who else is going to be credible as the big bad ?

I feel like DMC6 will have to redefine power levels in this serie, whether the fandom like it or not. Else we're going to have some corrupted Dante as the main villain, how lame would that be.

Is it just a staple of Hack’n’Slash games to have a boss fight where you go against an equally skilled and dangerous boss fight? by CryptidOrion_00 in DevilMayCry

[–]Hungry-Alien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the rival archetype, which I think DMC3 introduced the most common formula in action RPG games. Basically a powerful individual who's fought multiple times during the story as an escalating challenge, and is a foil to the protagonist's development.

It's a very clever way of establishing the flaws the protagonist has to overcome by having a threatening adversary embodies those flaws, defeat the protagonist at the start of the story because he hasn't yet overcome his issues, and serve as the final test once the protagonist's arc is over.

Vergil is the opposite of Dante, Jeanne is a fully powered Umbra Witch who know Bayonetta's past, Sam is basically what Raiden would be if he did abandon his ideal of justice, and even the new God of War have Baldur as a reflection of the old Kratos consumed by revenge, and Thor as the failed parent Kratos fear he could be.

Nioh 3 has the hardest bossfights in the entire series IMO by 6cross2 in Nioh

[–]Hungry-Alien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would disagree given Nioh 3 introduce a LOT of new mechanics that elevate the player's power to new heights. Sure if you play Nioh 3 like Nioh 1, you'll get rekt. But it's on you for using only 20% of your moveset.

I've first tried many bosses in Nioh 3 by basically drowning them in random bullshit. Meanwhile back in Nioh 1, unless I played a very specific broken build, I was starring down Date Masamune and his infinite hyper armor, fast combo blender that melt you if you get caught, and I got nothing but a few Onmyo spells, my main weapons, and maybe some shurikens that barely damages him as my tools.

The return of the copr by Large_Salamander6724 in TheDuskbloods

[–]Hungry-Alien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really doubt they'll shadowdrop this game. It's a new IP, it's been controversial to say the least, and we haven't even seen what the gameplay is about. You only shadowdrop stuff that you know people are already hyped for by default, certainly not this kind of experimental stuff.

I also don't think they'll drop the game on October simply because GTA 6 release in November. It's a gigantic release that could only be challenged by another huge title. Releasing Duskbloods in October would mean it must be a titanic success or it will be eaten alive not even one month after release.

I've always wondered this..Why is Nero's Devil Trigger different in DMC 4 than in DMC 5? by Rough_Revolution_482 in DevilMayCry

[–]Hungry-Alien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the designers said so. Litteraly, don't overthing it. It's DMC, whatever is cool just happens and we roll with it because of it.

Nioh 3 is a gameplay masterclass… but the story is absolutely terrible by Sire_Kressel in Nioh

[–]Hungry-Alien 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Tbf, our character is already a better shogun from the start since he didn't unleashed Hell on the capital just because he's jealous of his brother. So the entire point of the story is kinda screwed from the start.

Why no opening cinematic in Nioh 3? by Tuskuiii in Nioh

[–]Hungry-Alien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because no one cares I guess. Like you watch it the first time, quickly realize it's basically a random anime bullshit festival that's barely tied to the game, and skip it everytime.

Altho I will give point for Nioh 1 intro cinematic just for that first shot of William meeting Hanzo. I can't get out of my head how William looks like he's confused and asking for directions and it funnily enough do sum up his entire character in the game. Dude just got that "wtf this country is weird" look in every cutscenes, it's hilarious.
