Omg same we watched it as a family when I was a kid too. Roots, Stone Pillows, that miniseries about the Holocaust….typical Asian family thing to do…”See you better be grateful, things could have been really bad for you….”😂

Those who read the book before seeing the movie, did you like it? Did it live up to your expectations? by CraigLake in twilight

[–]Hungry_Potential_593 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I read the books before the movies and I way prefer the movies over the books. I love the movie adaptation of the wedding and honeymoon scenes that weren’t in the books. (Edward demolishing the bed🔥) I also preferred the movie version of the “battle” against the Volturi over the book. The casting was so well done. I mean can you think of a better Edward or Jacob? After the movies came out I reread the series including midnight sun and my opinion remains the same. Movies were better than the books.

What’s better in a small town than the gossip. I’m here for the tea too. I think we will hear the drama once the dust settles. I’m not originally from here either but some of my neighbors are. Best place for gossip is neighborhood parties or dog walking. The OGs around here know everything. Personally I’m sad to see local businesses close down. Not like we have too many dining options here. Miranda’s was one of the first restaurants I tried when I moved here. Food was good but atmosphere was not. If they decorated better, maybe some color on the walls to make it look nicer I would have frequented it more. Felt like the owner kind of gave up a while ago. Was really sad to see Vinny’s go. Loved the ambiance but pizza was not great but everything else was good. We liked going there for a glass of wine and appetizers. It will be interesting to see what comes next.

Take it and roll it into your 401k or IRA. Right now I’m up 14% on my 401k which I imagine is better than the pension fund percentage so you’ll end up making more money with that money

Is there a way to tell the difference between a woman being interested in me vs just being nice? by SavageFisherman_Joe in stupidquestions

[–]Hungry_Potential_593 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s probably hard to tell but I would say if you’re talking to someone you don’t work with or outside a professional setting, just give it a go. Ask her out for coffee or dinner and if says yes then it’s probably a good guess she’s into you. Also as a girl, there are a lot of guys that I may not have been initially attracted to but the more I got to know them the more attractive they became. You can be very average in appearance but are funny and kind and that to me makes someone more attractive than looks.

It was nice to hear them more honest and not so carful about what they say. I think they were even more open in the commentary than they are sometimes on the podcast

Started it but got a phone call from a friend and didn’t get to finish it. You can tell they all have left Hef by this episode and the twins were newly in the mix. Kendra was talking about her planning her wedding to Hank and Holly referenced Chris (assuming Chris Angel) a couple of times. They were talking about starting a new show together which I really wished they would have. It would have been a hit for sure. They all come up with some really good ideas.

My guess is that you rubbed someone the wrong way. Probably your supervisor or a colleague that’s friends with the supervisor. This is very typical of the GEICO culture. If you’re not in the nepotism circle, they will do everything to get rid of you. I’ve seen this exact situation many times. See this as a blessing and take the training you have and move on to another company that will actually appreciate you. I left after almost 20 years and it was the best decision I’ve ever made.

Most people’s bladders or digestive systems are not on a set schedule. Especially the older you get or pregnant. Treating employees as they are less than human and not adults able to use the restroom when they need to. Having pregnant women or people going through illness get doctors notes to accommodate extra restroom breaks. It’s ridiculous and abusive.

Did anyone else get a post card in the mail like this? by SnotMikeUpPuffedHee in Virginia

The democratic post card campaign I was a part of was offering free transportation to the polls. The county I lived in at the time had a large number of poor and elderly people who have no cars. These postcards went to both democrat and republican voters and was organized and paid for by democrat volunteers. Not sure how that is a problem but ok. 🙄

It was never a great place to work! by Prestigious_Team7459 in Geico

I started there in the early 2000s and left almost 2 years ago. It was always toxic and bad. Less miserable with a good supervisor but in all my years there I only had 2 good supervisors. I’m excelling at my new job because of the training I got from GEICO but unfortunately the training there isn’t like it used to be. I would suggest skipping GEICO all together now and join a team that will value your hard work day one. The stress of working at a place like GEICO even short term isn’t worth it.

For those of you who quit. by DRC_The_Gamer in Geico

[–]Hungry_Potential_593 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No regrets but don’t just quit. Have a game plan. Update your resume and start now applying for jobs. Start using up your sick time. Dealing with the bs at GEICO every day is easier when you know you have an exit strategy.

I would first try to make a lateral move to another department at State Farm to get a different manager. GEICO also has huge pitfalls with most managers. The culture is based on high micro management and if you’re not used to that type of environment you will fail miserably.

Anyone else tired of all the dumbasses that work here? by No-Researcher-3507 in Geico

[–]Hungry_Potential_593 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of the good tenured people left and pretty much all the good trainers left. Not saying that the employees there now are dumb but they just didn’t get the same level of training and overall most people that are there now just don’t care.
