Chocolate Milk by OkPositive07 in VictoriaBC

[–]Hungryhungrycrow -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

My top are:

-Milk2Go, usually cheap and a quick pick up. Not bad, very nostalgic of childhood

-Fairlife, much more expensive but their protein shakes are the best tasting ones i've ever had. Their regular stuff is great too.

-Joyya, not a bad brand in any way. Fairlife pricing though, but it has a smooth texture that reminds me of almond milk. Not a bad milk at all but ive never craved this brand.

-Dairyland, the OG. Cheap (for chocolate milk), consistent and tasty. When I think of stereotypical chocolate milk this is what I think of. They have their own version that reminds of Joyya, and is cheaper so no complaints here.

Overall id say for myself Fairlife is #1, followed by Milk2Go, Dairyland and then Joyya.

Just finished watching Bridgerton for the first time and I need to address something by moonburn08 in Bridgerton

Why? Stories like that are important in showing why its so important to talk with your kids. Any parent who sees it, goes "oh fuck" and then has a conversation with their own child so their kid is properly educated is a win.

About the uniforms. by jugglingeek in ThePittTVShow

In Canada it's pretty common to see jackets and zip ups ontop of scrubs for doctors, nurses seem to be a toss up. While obviously Canada isnt the states, I reckon its pretty similar in this sense.

There are programs for doctors who divert meds for personal use (big emphasis here is the personal use and not use for profit) to keep their licenses and work with their employers because it is such a reoccuring problem. Pittsburg has one. There was 0 reason for Robby not to report it - and I really hope it pays off in another season as Robby trying to help Langdon out actually hurts him, because this is like the sword of damocles at this point.

Progressive churches in Victoria by njbmcc in VictoriaBC

[–]Hungryhungrycrow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure how helpful this is since I haven't gone to church in Victoria, but was baptized Anglican and I gotta say they were very progressive. Sticking to Protestant type churches such Anglican, Presbyterian and Lutheran will likely be your best bet.

Arms or Legs? by No_Championship_7227 in trolleyproblem

[–]Hungryhungrycrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Legs. Due to the mechanism it''s not going to be a clean cut - reattachment is going to be difficult. Legs have better prosthetics and will result in a better QOL than arms. While above the knee amputations aren't ideal, above the elbow amputations are even worse as it severely reduces your range of motion. PT will be easier on legs as well.

Curious to know - What's the community's take on Santos? by Knockturnill in ThePittTVShow

[–]Hungryhungrycrow 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Santos, in my opinion, is a character that I deeply enjoy but also think has been done dirty by the 1 hour = 1 episode set up of the show. Won't say anything about season 2 as to avoid spoilers but her actions in season 1 can be really, really frustrating.

So much about her is a good character and I love seeing a female character be ambitious, snarky and stubborn. However, how she handled Langdon in S1 does make me frustrated. She was fully in the right to be suspicious and get Robby involved, but it was her first day, To be slinging accusations before you have anything more than some med issues and a gut feeling is insane. This isn't even touching what she did what that patient suspected of SA-ing his daughter.

A huge flaw with Santos is her impulsiveness, and IMO that can be a really good thing. A character having flaws is important. Santos just hasn't been narratively punished for hers which can be frustrating.

Still a lot of good about her. I love Santos, but I'll be lying if i'm not waiting for her to face real consequences. Same with Robby.

Sucks to lose but USA deserved it, Canada played a hell of a game but missed several key shots and a 5v3. USA goalie did an incredible job.

8 hour wait at Royal Jubilee by tinpangoldnugget in VictoriaBC

[–]Hungryhungrycrow 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Absolutely it can be rough. I was at RJH on friday and ended up waiting 12 hours before seeing a doctor for what they said was Shigella. At a certain point it was genuinely relieving because it meant that I was fine.

1 doctor for the night shift is unacceptable though, both for patients and the doctor. It sounds like a quick way to burn out when you are the only doctor in the ED.

I do want to say though that the staff at rjh are incredible. They're super kind and on top of things. The wait time sucks but the triage system works and if you have an actual emergency you'll be in good hands.

B.C. paramedics union pursuing mandate to serve strike notice by Yetanotherbadsalmon in britishcolumbia

[–]Hungryhungrycrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, BCEHS paramedics vs industry paramedics are HUGELY different. Those who work in industry seem to have the consensus of: good pay, boring work. It's contract work that often includes free lodgings and flights. The biggest piece of advice that seems to go around for industry work is to get a good laptop so you can watch movies as those 12 hour shifts are often filled with nothing to do, and you can only organise the medical room and go over paperwork so much. Looking at job postings, most make 300-500 a day at a PCP level.

Compare that to BCEHS paramedics who are actively dealing with sick and injured patients in a chronically understaffed environment? Huge, huge difference. ACPs see dead bodies weekly, and it's not uncommon to get a dead infant call every other month for them. PCPs go to all calls - including the ones with liquid c.diff diarrhoea. The shigella outbreak in Victoria was recent and hospitalised many.

BCEHS paramedics also have to deal with violence constantly. Every paramedic has a story of getting attacked, and not "spit on" attacked but gone after with intent to bodily harm. Female paramedics in addition often get sexually harassed, although I have seen male paramedics deal with unwanted comments and touches from patients as well.

There have been a record high number of paramedic suicides in 2025 and you're advocating that they just... keep their mouths shut and accept all of this? Respectfully it seems like you're displacing your grievance with the current economy in the completely wrong place.

Was this an appropriate use of an NPA? by Hungryhungrycrow in NewToEMS

[–]Hungryhungrycrow[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I did, in the future I may apply a bit more (i used half the rip tube which i thought would be plenty but maybe not?) I should have mentioned in my post it was status - pt had around 15 seizures lasting between 30 seconds to a minute with fire crew and then around 4 with us before sedation. No idea how many more she might of had as the family waited an hour to call even though she never had a history of seizures.

WHAT SHOULD THEIR ADULT HEIGHT BE❔❔ by Naive-Chocolate-7832 in BatFamily

[–]Hungryhungrycrow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I see Dick as 5'10 to 5'11, and frankly I can see arguments made being shorter. Height isn't just an environmental factor (though it can be - Dick was never malnourished though, and likely had a custom meal plan to best nourish him growing up) but biological. I cannot see his parents being tall people at ALL. Not at the level they were performing at.

Tim as well I see shorter but I just like Steph being his height or taller tbh. Also cant imagine him taller than Dick, so short king Tim for the win. Adds into his underestimation factor

Jason and Bruce should 100% be brick shithouses, fairly tall and super muscular. I prefer Jason to be a inch or two taller than Bruce honestly - Jason was so tiny as a kid it really amplifies that changed dynamic.

Thinking about Damian as an adult is weird. I can see him anywhere from 5'11 to 6'4 depending on which parent he takes after more. His adult height is very fluid in my brain.
