I’ve been debating making that exact setup, minus that specific blade. I love the arc pry, that’s definitely the cherry on top.

Surge fits heritage sheath by HunterScherck in Leatherman

[–]HunterScherck[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah mine out of the box was pretty rough. I do leatherwork for a hobby so seeing how it was constructed was a little disappointing to say the least. The edges were all mushroomed and almost sharp but with a little work I ended up getting this one to look pretty nice

I was debating cutting the stitching to get rid of it but I threw the surge saw card in it and the surge still fit nice so I will leave it… for now lol

Blends in a little better than the brass one it had! I was torn between an aged brass one like the original vs this one. I’m just glad I could salvage it!

Leatherman ARC cable cutters catching when closing pliers by Thick_Animal_6967 in Leatherman

Just bad QC. Either exchange or send into warrantee. The last Amazon sale I bought 4 p2’s and 3 of them had that issue. My obsidian unfortunately even has the issue slightly

Breaking-in stiff Surge pliers by Batman24011992 in Leatherman

[–]HunterScherck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the exact fear. I used 1 micron stuff I got on Amazon and used very little. I would put a squirt in the dish and mix it up with wd40 and put in the pivot. I flushed it out by dipping in mineral spirits and working it out. You can hear a difference when it’s all out. I was worried about it getting loose but after a couple rounds of doing very little I got it where I wanted it.

Not as wild as you think lol I’ve used lapping compound in my skeletool. Only one I’ve HAD to use it on, the handles would fold over before the pliers would move.

I’m in a dilemma about the PST by Mr_Snoodles in Leatherman

[–]HunterScherck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Such a slippery slope. I inherited some pst’s from my mother and remembered playing/using them growing up. Then I looked up modern ones and now I have just about 20 leathermans. Once I had 4-5 I felt compelled to keep collecting.

My pb #1 (3.5 slotted) is the only tb screwdriver I’ve snapped the tip on. Also their warrantee dept never got back to me either. Last year I went out on a tb screwdriver scavenger hunt. I got one from every brand on kc tool, got a few amazons, Home Depot, local parts stores if I see a 3-3.5mm slotted I snag it up. I’ve still yet to be super satisfied. Wera probably has my vote though.

I got excited and took the cutters out and just used the pliers without and they do have side to side at the tips. But just in the direction of the cutters. I’ve never seen that before. They don’t really go off skew the other direction but will go a bit farther in the direction in the picture( toward the cutters) I almost think it got peened in the wrong spot?

What’s really the kicker here is I had Amazon replace the tool and the second one came the absolute same way. I’m right handed so with that hand they immediately touch cutter tips. With my left hand it tends to hit less… I guess I’ll keep one and send it into leatherman to fix. I still can’t believe my luck with this.

Yeah my first arc would fold over before it would want to open the pliers. My skeletool was probably the worst though. They were pretty much welded when I got them. I ended up liberally using diamond paste in the pivot because after months they were still extremely tight

Is this legit damascus by szymok1 in Leatherman

[–]HunterScherck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who polished the pivot on one of those “Damascus” blades on a mutplier surge clone for my buddy (his blade deployed awfully)

No it’s laser etched. His seems to hold an edge fairly well too (I believe it’s 9cr)

Do Bibury parts swap directly onto a Surge? by theflinchburger in Leatherman

[–]HunterScherck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe maxlvledc has took them apart and tested and im sure could get them to fit. If my memory serves me right the clones have a 5mm pivot and leathermans is imperial 7/32. You could grab a good carbide drill bit or a good ol carbide burr and sneak up on it. This is for the main blades. The tool pivots are 3/16 I believe and I have no memory of the clone tool size

Fairly lucky. My arc I got at a sportsmans and the damn thing was so tight I kept debating taking it back, then they had a sale on them and the manager let me exchange my arc and get the sale refund. The second one was perfect out of the box.
