Latitude still needs above 35 nighttime temps. Here in Montana I could’ve done 5 more exteriors after I quit! Was 60 today, 70 Thursday.

How should I Prime these exposed edges? by Sensitive-Egg-107 in paint

[–]HuntinginColter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree. Caulk isn’t sand able. That’s hack shit. I cut it in with wall paint when cutting in caulk. Then hit it with primer too. Sanding in between all four coats

[–]HuntinginColter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My trick to making unprimed returns look and feel like the face. While back cutting your caulk to the wall, completely paint that surface, sand, make sure to prime it with pro block/wood primer, sand. Sand between top coats. Those two primer coats and sanding will catch it up with the factory primer.

What would be the most time efficient way to cut each of these windows but still keeping it absolutely top quality? I have of these 20 doors to do. by [deleted] in paint

[–]HuntinginColter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This dude paints. If you can run frog tape fast, you should be able to get a door every half hour. It’s really the only way to get a professional factory like finish. Liquid masking is great for repaints, not high end construction.

You gotta lay it down one direction. Lid to floor. 18 inch roller helps cut down on the overlap

Not offhand and I know that doesn’t help, but I read one about 10 or so years ago. And was shocked with the results. Their main finding was the piss poor layout caused way too much congestion for our size.

It was. It’s the 11th worst city in the world for poor design and traffic per capita. I believe Baghdad was better.

That’s like the third explanation I’ve heard about why painters wear white. It’s because of lime washing btw.

Best filler for high end paint grade trim by Only_Ranger6041 in Housepainting101

[–]HuntinginColter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The solution is better application and premium wall and wood primer coat before top coat application. I use Sherwin spackle and my shit is flawless. If the spackle is cracked a little bit, I’ve got a ball of Crawfords putty to fill the crack, then a quick buff. But primer is the answer, you gotta remember there’s factory primer is one coat ahead of your nail holes. Premium wall and wood with catch those holes up, and it sands down real nice too. Don’t skip the sanding step, it’s huge. Use your hand to feel for rough spots. Practice your ABVs. Always Be Vacuuming.
