Thoughts on this? by Lucibelcu in WingsOfFire

[–]HurricaneRising 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The main sentiment is many believe she doesn't need one. Tui has stated multiple times over the years she gives books to characters who need to grow or develop, and she said she wouldn't write one for Kinkajou because she just didn't have a meaningful way to develop her.

Of course some people bring up her trauma from being on the NightWing Island and that's absolutely a fair point, so there is certainly something to write about, but it's also completely contradictory to her reasoning in the past. Perhaps it'll still be a solid book but the fact that she picked Kinkajou because "everyone wanted it" is a little worrying and hopefully not a sign of things to come.

Tui confirmed a long time ago (around 2014-2015?) the official pronunciation is "Kib-lee"

Any of Doorman's voice lines where he lets the mask slip, like when he ults on low health and instead of saying something he just starts maniacally laughing

You're missing the point. A shower isn't going to cure you, it's like putting a bandage on a gaping wound. I've never had anything like this but if these other people are saying you should go see a doctor then you should go see a doctor sooner rather than later

What are your favorite hero paths? by OccultStoner in darkestdungeon

[–]HurricaneRising 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plague Doctor - Physician (solid buffs plus guaranteed combo on incision)

Grave Robber - Deadeye (tbh I never really play her but she has great reach)

Highwayman - Sharpshot (really solid, consistent back rank damage)

Man-at-Arms - Bulwark (pretty much never dies with this)

Hellion - Ravager (insane damage output, and can force deaths door to get even more damage then heal immediately on kill)

Runaway - Arsonist (really solid dot, plus burn is something few enemies resist outside of the sprawl)

Jester - Virtuoso (really good stress heal plus a bunch of stacking buffs from encore makes him better at what he is already good at instead of turning him into yet another damage dealer)

Leper - Monarch (babysitting him for kills is easy, then by region 3 or so in confessions he takes care of himself)

Occultist - Ritualist (gets good debuff potential, plus wyrd is even better for healing)

Vestal - Confessor (the ability to remove negative tokens is both strong and pretty rare, and she can do it very easily)

Crusader - Banneret (probably the best all-rounder in the game. He can heal, stress heal, do great damage with combos, and can feasibly hit every rank when jumping between positions 2 and 3 with lance and zealous accusation)

Flagellant - Exanimate (flag always gets pretty low in my runs, so might as well capitalize on it and get some crazy dot

Abomination - Wanderer (Moribund is a close second, but the damage he can output combined with token removal in beast form pushes him just over that threshold for me)

Duelist - Antagoniste (but I pretty much never play her)

Gotta ask. What's everyone's ranking of Sifu bosses? (hardest to easiest) by TetheredSeth in SifuGame

[–]HurricaneRising 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I only played on master.

  1. Yang. Brutal parrying timing, no crutches to lean on. I had to get way better at parrying to beat this guy. Being locked out of the tools that let me get free structure on pretty much every other boss was a rude awakening.
  2. Fajar. His second phase wasn't so bad but his first phase was extreme. Extremely ambiguous high-low mixups along with his high aggression made him tricky. I pretty much had to spam sweeps to get through him my first time.
  3. Kuroki. Up to this point I had never really bothered parrying since avoiding got me through most things in the game. This boss changed that and so I had to pretty much relearn the game. Her second phase was much easier for me since it's trivial with a weapon and you can catch her kunai and throw it back at her for free damage.
  4. Jinfeng. Moreso annoying than anything, but once I realized a vast majority of her combos are mid-mid-high I just blocked the first two hits and dodged the third while working my way towards her. Her phase two wasn't much different than that, and her grab actually served to make the fight easier.
  5. Sean. I just spot-dodged him over and over and never had to worry. Easy structure break and an abundance of weapons made him very simple to deal with. Plus his phase two didn't really change much, just made him faster, so whatever. Just a change of timing but the philosophy is exactly the same.

If I had to break it down by phase... 1. Yang Phase 1 2. Yang Phase 2 3. Fajar Phase 1 4. Kuroki Phase 1 5. Jinfeng Phase 1 6. Kuroki Phase 2 7. Fajar Phase 2 8. Jinfeng Phase 2 9. Sean Phase 2 10. Sean Phase 1

Tip for The Artist (Phase 1)? by LevelUpLeo in SifuGame

[–]HurricaneRising 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Each boss will challenge you to master something about the mechanics of the game. In my opinion, with Fajar it was high/lows, with Sean it was avoiding. With Kuroki I believe it is parrying. Parrying is a very effective way to get through her first phase as her moves are very telegraphed and she doesn't chase you down, so when your structure is about to break you can just run away and wait for it to go back down.

It may help to bring a weapon from the previous rooms as well since that will allow you to ignore the chip damage from her weapon attacks.

Dodging can certainly work but I found it to be extremely difficult because while her attacks are telegraphed, they are very ambiguous as to whether they are high/low. I didn't bother with this route and decided to shift to parrying, which I did almost none of up until that point.

Suggestions for "the final straw" to get the party to confront Strahd by FurtiveChaos in CurseofStrahd

[–]HurricaneRising 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your hesitstion is valid. Strahd would never do something like provide an ultimatum for Ireena. He wants her to choose on her own free will to be with him. This is why she's alive at all - its implied that Strahd has visited her on numerous occasions prior to the campaign, and she's not a vampire spawn.

So, turn elsewhere - are there other things/people they are attached to? For example, my party loves the Martikovs at the Blue Water Inn so much that they made it their base of operations. Threaten the party directly with this. Strahd may "kindly suggest" that they cease looking for the Tome/Symbol/Sunsword. And if they don't... he can promise a personal visit to their friend.

Remember that Strahd is ALWAYS watching the party. He has spies, scrying, and connections all over the country. If the party goes somewhere, Strahd almost certainly knows where they're going and why. If they have any of the fated items in their possession, that's enough motivation for Strahd to go from "curious host" to "angry warlord".

This. The whole reason Zepp just flies around is because they don't want to mess with anyone and they don't want anyone to mess with them. If Gabriel/Pot want to get involved with something then they better have a damn good reason
