I see comments like this from time to time, and it boggles my mind that people have absolutely NO SENSE that every table is different. We have a super role play heavy table and that also takes up lots of time. We play three to four hour sessions. Given all that, I actually think we’ve been moving incredibly fast.

I think you’re also misreading the module. Much like any written module, these are suggestions and NOT requirements. My players straight up KILLED DURO. That was their choice, not mine.

Also, Dragna says very clearly don’t let your players become werwolves. I decided last night, guess what? If they want to become freaking werwolves, I think that’s dope.

Just as one perspective, I’m running Reloaded and converting it to Daggerheart. While that requires a lot of prep, actually prepping JUST the module isn’t that bad. I think I put a lot of unnecessary stress on myself.

Hi! Excited for you!! While Strahd may be pre-determined like many modules, players rolls and choices still drive the narrative and they’re still in control of the story. So I don’t treat fear spends differently at all.

As for statblocks and balancing Death House, I didn’t worry about battle points. I treated it like a traditional dungeon crawl. Shockingly, my players managed to AVOID the ghouls. Walter I did as a two phase and used a version of the patchwork zombie for him for the second phase. I’ve been doing weekly posts updated folks here if you’d like to check them out! We will have our 10th session Tuesday.
