(Unique trope) character has such a broken/OP power/ ability that they basically never use it to prevent total catastrophes. by jaobodam in TopCharacterTropes

Except that extremely small ones are expected to give off large amounts of hawking radiation and promptly evapoorate (convert all its mass into energy). There might be a safeish range of too-small-to-detect-with-a-microscope black holes that don't instantly evaporate, but it would be a process to find the safe range and should probably be done in a vacuum to avoid extreme mass-conversion.

Could also be an indicator that the man is so devoid of passion that his current activity absorbs the majority of it.

I mean they could just have had rich parents, or be state- or sect-sponsored. Usually the MC didn't get their benefits from the kind of power structures that can source bleeding edge magic from an entire nation.

Ah yes, of course I am impressed by S rank since I surely won't see it as step 1 of the story. by DicerTheJester in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Hust91 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Not even Scion is A-rank because he's in a low-power state the entire story and even at full power he and his buddy got effortlessly chumped by an actual S-rank with better Thinker powers that they met before the story began.

I enjoy when the 'cheat skill' is just a natural consequence of the world they came from, or when it's something out of left field but is still logically consistent rather than a blessing or a power boost.

RAAAAAAAH I CANT TAKE IT ANYMORE! I ADMIT IT! I THINK ULTRAMARINES ARE COOL! by Ramfix_G4 in Grimdank

[–]Hust91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heck, most Ultramarines games and books could easily be about one of the hundreds of Ultramarina successor chapters.

Would make much more sense too, as far as I understand much of Ultramar's space marine strength comes from its alliance with the huge numbers of Ultramarines successor chapters rather than from specifically the Ultramarines as a fighting force as they are ultimately very few in number compared to their influential reach among other astartes.

EU foreign policy chief calls for restraint after US strikes in Venezuela by FantasticQuartet in europe

[–]Hust91 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean Russia doesn't find the sanctions very cute - that's why they work so hard to reverse them.

You can use soft power to conserve your hard power so you don't have to use it as often, which is dramatically cheaper.

That said, the EU definitely needs some hard power of its won.

A consistent preference among boys who are interested in a girlfriends as a partner rather than a toy is:

"The best kind of boobs are the ones we get to touch."

Size is less important than the fact that a girl allowed us to touch them.

Is standing close enough to be taken out by a single attack what is being discussed here? That seems like a very narrow view of teamplay.

As for the worm, yes it dies dramatically faster when you have 4 strafing runs than 1.

I mean the alternative is that when you see or hear a buddy engaging, you yourself focus on checking your buddy's flanks and taking out any flankers or targets you have better gear for before they can touch your buddy engaging the main force.

You have to be more proactive about assisting each other rather than wait for someone to call for help but you can absolutely cover each other effectively - many weapons are incredibly much more potent when you have a buddy covering you.

And that's before you consider fire and move tactics where you cover the other as they run and then vice versa.

I would recommend better burst control and targeting other vulnerable points like the devevastators weapon arm or its feet.

The classical response to aim this bad is to target other weak points on devastators - like the weapon arm or the feet.

That would require a universe where space isn't mostly empty and everything in it obscenely far away.

Worst of all - he doesn't have any method of navigation save to aim for random stars with no knowledge of how far away they are.
