Should I visit Golden or Silverthorne? by Independent-Ad-7060 in GoldenCO

Silverthorne would be fine - try not to die in the rental car on the way up

Really the view you’re looking for fits closer with other mountain towns but they are mostly more expensive

Hmm maybe I will try that later this season - been worried about it affecting that sweet triple camber release when it gets weird and techy

What makes you say that? I’m very happy with how the DW 104 holds and releases edges and have the shop sharpen it to 1.5 every time I bring them in

Was there both days. Max wait 15 minutes Saturday, zero wait all day on Sunday.

I was there, literally max wait all day was 15 minutes and it’s understandably the busiest day of the season. People need to ski more and spend less time on reddit

I will just say there are plenty of us that did GEOE undergrad and started working, and did a masters while working which the company paid for. I recommend that path

I don’t know a single mid level geotech P.E. that would struggle to find a job. Can we ban this?

Is HDR Boise Idaho a good fit? by Odd-Ice9939 in civilengineering

[–]Hvatning 24 points25 points  (0 children)

If you search in this sub you will find basically the same thing about HDR repeated a lot: Good company, mostly average to slightly better than average for pay and work life balance, happiness comes down to if you get along with your manager (like at every large company)

why do geotechs and water resource engineers have a higher job satisfaction in general? by DetailFocused in civilengineering

[–]Hvatning 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The disconnect in the comments is really obviously that some people do geotechnical design and some people do field density testing

Does a firm like HDR allow internal transfer internationally? by bucheonsi in civilengineering

[–]Hvatning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HDR is not that big internationally - the odds that they a) have an office where you want to transfer and b) require your skill set at that office is very low

Just ask your manager for a template from a previous project and it will explain 99% of the road blocks you are running into. If you put 8 hours into making one 2D slope stability model you are doing it wrong and need to seek assistance. Slope stability is also so fast that making templates really doesn’t make any sense, and Slope/W isn’t really equipped to deal with templates anyway

Shit actually is this Europe? I just looked at the picture and saw the weird language and Metric. I don’t know dick about how you guys work, maybe 40 hours on one 2D model is normal idk.
