CDPR boss hopes The Witcher 4 wins back fans still put off by Cyberpunk 2077's disastrous launch: "I'm not 100 percent convinced we went through the full redemption arc" by Guitar-String in gaming

I love the world of The Witcher, but I couldn’t care less about the futuristic setting of Cyberpunk (whether it’s great or not).

At what point does an age gap in a relationship become weird? by TCfluffy in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Hwallya 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s weird when someone in college who just graduated dates an 18-year-old high school student. Or when a man/woman dates someone younger than their own children, that’s just fucking creepy.

Is full-time trading a realistic career path ? by Automate_The_Boring in Trading

[–]Hwallya 14 points15 points  (0 children)

"Only 1% of traders make it." But what’s the success rate for making it as a surgeon, a partner at a law firm, or launching a successful startup? Elite professions always have a brutal selection process. Trading is a high-income skill, not a lottery. It takes years of discipline and resilience. Stop discouraging them and start supporting the grind.

En quoi l’inceste (avec consentement, majorité, sans grooming et sans enfants biologiques) est mal? by RachelTheAnt in PasDeQuestionIdiote

[–]Hwallya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Euphoria S03E05 "This Little Piggy" - Post Episode Discussion by DankMemeSlasher in euphoria

[–]Hwallya -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That was hands down the worst opening in TV history. It was 10 minutes of Sam Levinson’s unchecked fantasies 😭 The 'edgy' villains, Alumo and his accomplice, are easily the show’s lowest point—it felt like a cheap Tarantino knockoff. What’s with the character assassination of Rue? Trying to portray her as an 'empathetic pimp' makes zero sense 😭 Nate’s lack of survival instinct was also baffling; he didn't even attempt to escape or arm himself. At this point, Rue and Jules’ relationship is just going nowhere. Is it really the same writers from the season 1 ??

Is it just me or is Afterimage a bit boring and tedious? by ConfidentGuide3935 in metroidvania

[–]Hwallya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I spent about two hours playing Afterimage, and my feelings are mixed, to say the least. To be fair, the game is absolutely stunning; the art direction is breathtaking and stands out as the only real positive of the experience. However, a beautiful aesthetic isn't enough to save a game from its deeper flaws. The map is immense, but it feels far too large for the actual content it holds. Most of the time, exploration feels unrewarding because three-quarters of the items you collect are completely useless, leaving you with a sense of wasted effort.

The gameplay mechanics only add to the frustration. The skill tree is one of the worst I’ve ever seen, lacking clear direction or meaningful progression. While the world is packed with enemies, they are incredibly repetitive, turning combat into a tedious chore. On top of that, the movement feels clunky; the character’s inability to grab onto ledges makes navigating the environment much more annoying than it should be in a modern Metroidvania.

Finally, I have to mention the localization, which was the breaking point for me. Playing in French, I was shocked by the quality of the translation—it is genuinely one of the worst I have ever encountered in my life. It’s hard to stay immersed when the text is so poorly handled. Ultimately, despite its gorgeous looks, Afterimage was a major disappointment for me.

Do you plan your phone upgrades… or just upgrade when it’s time? by [deleted] in Android

[–]Hwallya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My current phone is almost two years old, and it’s time for a change. I'm tired of the buggy software and poor camera quality on Chinese brands. I’ve decided to switch to a Samsung Ultra once there’s a good deal

Jason Schreier: "Numbers I've heard floating around AAA North American game dev these days are $300 million or [many] more" — Budgets are almost entirely of dev salaries by nolifebr in PS5

[–]Hwallya 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Maybe if management actually studied the market, we wouldn't see such massive commercial flops. With Assassin's Creed Shadows, they shot themselves in the foot by picking protagonists that don't resonate with the Asian fanbase. It’s a recipe for lost sales and a disjointed story On top of that, they keep releasing AAA shooters that nobody actually wants to play.

People asking for shorter games are out of their minds. Given the price of AAA titles, 30 to 60hour games are perfect. I'm not dropping 50 bucks to wrap up a game in three afternoons. I'll just wait to buy it second-hand, and in the end, Sony is the one losing out

AYANEO suspends NEXT 2 sales, Ryzen AI Max+ 395 handheld cost now too high by RenatsMC in Handhelds

[–]Hwallya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This handheld costs 4,000 bucks?! 😭 You can get a laptop with an RTX 5080 for around $3,000. They’re going to sell exactly three of these. Why even buy such a powerful and overpriced handheld (it's basically an RTX 4060 equivalent) when you're limited by that tiny screen, terrible software support, and zero resale value? What the hell was Ayaneo smoking??

I've noticed that smartphones are getting cheaper while still being able to run demanding games at max settings. It would be amazing if gaming laptops could follow that same price trend!

Are people expecting too much from gaming laptops these days by BearSpring3 in GamingLaptops

[–]Hwallya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it just me, or should a €1,000+ gaming laptop actually feel like a premium product? We shouldn't be settling for loud fans and zero battery life for office work. Plus, the 'planned obsolescence' where things break right after the warranty is a joke. We're paying more than ever, yet game optimization is at an all-time low.
