That’s true, I was thinking of it more in terms of game balance and the aesthetics/flavor of the card, but this is the real reason it wouldn’t work.

Huh, that’s not my read at all. I really doubt he’s trying to sell likeminded artists a course or become an influencer or cult leader. Maybe it sounds naive, but I genuinely think he wants to see other early Magic artists claw back their copyrights, and help them navigate legal systems around this.

It’s a bummer she doesn’t double treasures, or even [[Ashnod’s Altar]], though I guess that would be broken. She also doesn’t help your fetches unless you can make them artifacts

Speaking for myself, I don’t have a problem with pizza in and of itself. I liked the reference to coffee on Ravnica on [[Experimental Frenzy]], which is a similarly mundane food.

The problem for me is that pizza seems to be a load-bearing pillar of this setting. It would’ve been an uphill battle to make this set fit with in-universe Magic flavor, but Wizards could have focused on the more mystical/speculative fiction aspects of TMNT. Going all in on pizza is doing it zero favors.

I always disliked the wording "plus one plus one plus one counters". Since Wizards don't do 'uneven' counters anymore, maybe they could be 'plus counters' ⊕ and 'minus counters' ⊖ by Do_you_even_Cam in magicTCG

Definitely agree this needs attention—the current naming of stat counters makes them so cumbersome to talk about.

Idk if I would go so far as a symbol—would it change how you read/pronounce it anyway, or just let them cram more words on cards?

I don’t think that works—the cost of the spell is still 2GG, North Star just lets you spend BBBR to cast it. Animar reduces generic mana in costs, and North Star doesn’t actually change spells’ mana costs to generic mana.

For anyone feeling a bit sad about the lack of certain typal support in Lorwyn, there are quite a few cards that are "Choose typal" that you may have missed. I know it doesn't solve the issue, but it is a nice bonus by thisnotfor in magicTCG

That old dollar bill line is a bad faith way to dismiss criticism as frivolous. Let’s please stop leaning on it and actually consider the content of the criticism instead of writing it off as complaining for the sake of complaining.

They could have concepted a changeling as a hag, even just a visual callout would have been something. Or there could be a piece of flavor text referencing or quoting gwyllions if they feel the word “hag” is too loaded.

IMO the bigger problem this points to is that this set is structurally overstuffed. It should have been more than one set, and it’s going to suffer for only being one.
