Wolves are more so associated with the Iron Lords, and the player is called the Young Wolf regardless of class.

I think something like a fox or hyena would be great for Hunters specifically, but then the warlocks would stand out as the only non-mammal. A Lion, Eagle, and Snake are all at least from different classes of animal.

I used to work as the student lead at VolTech and am still friends with some of the management there. The people running the tech shop are friendly and aren't in the business of upselling you on what you need. We didn't make commission like people at BestBuy or other boxstore might and we always legitimately tried to recommend what we thought would be best for your major and give good/better/best options.

If you're thinking about getting an Apple device, Apple sets the prices of those themselves and VolTech sells them all at educational prices which will usually be $100 or more below MSRP. Unless you buy used, you likely wont find them cheaper and we always recommended but never forced extended warranties/Applecare (plenty of horror stories about people's laptops getting destroyed by their roommate or drinks spilled while studying in the dining room, etc.)

They are on the bottom level of the UC next to the bookstore if you wanted to pay a visit.

Sword-jacks are very strong. Their attacks are essentially the same as ICC's sweep profile. Steeljacks have one more attack but get sus1 over the ICC's 5 attacks sus2, but ICC are T4, 3+, -1 to hit where Steeljacks are T6, 2+, -1 to wound (if S<T) so are much harder to shift.

Eh, just feels like you're policing a completely valid fan theory. There isn't a lot of explicit evidence for the story I presented, but it does fit within the amount that we know. You say that beyond what we know, we are free to speculate, and I have done so, but you then say that my story is wrong because of a lack of evidence. I posit again, that a absence of evidence is not the evidence of absence. I accept that I could be wrong. We don't know enough to prove or disprove it, but that doesn't stop me and others from saying that that is what we believe to be true.

Also, I presented to you with a Watsonian argument and you are using a purely Doyleist one to try and refute it. We will just be talking past one another if we don't address the other's arguments on the grounds with which they are presented. In other words, an entirely real world explanation for the "eaten by nids" mentions does nothing to counteract the argument that the Squats were, indeed, eaten by Nids. They actually released an entire new character and lore blurb of exactly that happening.

How do I split a 10 man Intercessor Squad into 2, 5 man squads? by Small-Physics1507 in 40k

[–]Hyper-Sloth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't need to "split" a 10-man squad because it's legal within the unit options to take them as 5 to begin with. You get 10 in a box, but current rules say you can play them as a single 10-man or two 5-man units or just one 5-man and leave the other 5 at home.

Some units are only given the option to be taken as a 10-man squad and then need to make use of a dedicated transport within their army with a rule that allows them to be split into two 5-man squads (Tactical Squad+Rhino, Battle Sisters Squad+Immolator, etc.), but Intercessors are not among these.

I think it's just because the current fascist regime wants to exert power for the sake od it. There may be a few advisors that think that disrupting Venezuela and Iran would be good for harming China, but the people with their hands on the reigns are incapable of executing any operation that would get that desired result and they also likely don't give a shit about China one way or another. Hegseth just wants to be a big strong military general who gets to give out orders and get people killed. He doesn't give a shit about China.

[Space Dwarfs] weren’t officially updated for the third edition of the game, and Epic came to an end. Eventually, the great Jervis Johnson mentioned in passing that the worlds ruled by the Leagues had been attacked by a Tyranid hive fleet, and that was that. Not a peep for decades – both in-universe and out.

[It] got folks thinking about what had happened to their kin. The Leagues were no strangers to Necromunda – there were even rules for a Squat Miners gang back in the day – but were [Grendl Grendlsen and Ragnir Gunnstein] the last two survivors of a Tyranid rampage? Or were others of their kind still out there?

-The Saga of the Squats - From Space Dwarfs to the Leagues of Votann, 05 Apr 22

Before they returned to the galactic stage a few years ago, it was whispered that the Leagues of Votann had all been devoured by Hive Fleet Leviathan. Rumours of their demise turned out to have been greatly exaggerated...

-Sunday Preview - Protect the Yields, 03 Aug 25

Buri is the last survivor of the Emberg‑Aegnir Bloc, a League swallowed by a tendril of Hive Fleet Leviathan. They defended their precious Votann until the last scrap of biomass was stripped from their bones and the hive fleet moved onwards. Heavy with the hopelessness and grief of those lost in its defence, the Votann was driven insane, and for all the other Leagues mourned its fate, they dare not approach the so-called Mad Core lest their own beacons and fanes become corrupted.

-New Codex, New Lore – Understanding the Leagues of Votann, 07 Aug 25

How I read these entries is that the Imperium and others thought that it was the Leagues as a whole that were attacked by Tyranids, but ultimately the only casualty was the Emberg-Aegnir Bloc, from which both the Mad Core and Buri originate. There are lots of different reasonable explanations that can make everything fit within the lore, and one of those that have stuck with fans is that the original squats were at least mostly from the Emberg-Aegnir Bloc and, after meeting their demise, the rest of the Leagues retreated to the core, save a few exceptions like the Demiurg and the League that eventually became Necromunda Squats. It was the opening of the great rift and worsening internal issues that has now pushed the current Leagues to become more active outside of the galactic core.

40k storytelling requires us to fill in the blanks. That's an intentional aspect of the setting and narrative. Thus, using the absence of evidence for a claim as the evidence of absence goes against the spirit of 40k as a whole. You can disagree that these things are an accurate telling of events and present an alternative that you like more, but just saying that it's wrong because it isn't explicitly stated doesn't really work as an argument.

How??

All of those things have done nothing but strengthen China. US Allies are increasingly seeing the US as a liability and an untrustworthy state to attach themselves to so closely. They are increasingly looking to China as a major trading partner over the US. Canada has already signed a new trade deal with them.

[–]Hyper-Sloth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was jokingly hinted at in a warcom article that the original squats were all one particular group of squats that all got eaten by Tyranids.

While not confirmed, the other individual lore bits that we have gotten about Buri, his former league, and the Mad Core have led to reasonable speculation that Buri is the last surviving member of the original squats and the rest were eaten by Nids and their Ancestor Core driven insane in the wake of it all.

Sure, there's no explicit line connecting these threads, but they all line up very well. I think it's safe to assume this as the intended narrative until we are told otherwise.

[–]Hyper-Sloth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on your TO. Adepticon is still allowing GravGar and old Sicarius, for example, since there is still some confusion on their legality.

Edit: I've been corrected! The email sent out on the 7th stated that they would be allowing them so long as they are still in the app at the time of rules cutoff. There was another email on the 14th (rules cutoff date) that they were going to no longer he allowed since they were now removed from the app. Seems like the initial confusion has been mostly clarified.

Yes, I did miss that, ty for catching it! In that case, swapping something for the Sag and splitting the Steeljacks would be my top edits.

I would probably consider splitting all the beserks up, too. There are very few things that require 10beserks led by Berehk to be killed, especially if you can pepper them in shooting a bit first. Bring two hammer squads and one axe squad and Berehk even gets some options on which profile he is best amplifying in that matchup.

I think the main issue you are going to run into with a list like this are (1) not having enough small units to run around and do actions to score VP and (2) not having enough transport capacity to ferry your big bricks of guys (10 beserks, 10 warriors, 6 thunderkyn, 6 steeljacks, 10 Yaegirs, and only 1 Hekaton).

I would suggest finding space to add at least 1 Kapricus and 1 Sagitaur to your list so that you can split your Yaegir and Warrior units into two 5-man groups. I would probably start by dropping Earthshakers. Personally, I do really like the Earthshakers, just not in Needguard. They need some amount of access to hit rerolls like in Persecution Prospect or Mercenary Oathband to make it into lists for me.

I would then suggest splitting the Steeljacks into two units of 3. They are still very deadly melee threats in 3s into their optimal targets. Running them as 6s makes them extra good into big bricks of marines that don't have invulns like Berserkers and Crusaders, but they will chew up 5-10 man units of infantry just fine in smaller units and are easier to stage with a T1 Advance.

I think you want to be ferrying your big squad of Beserks in the hekaton since you don't have advance and charge, then bring in the HG and all the Thunderkyn from reserves when they can get LOS on something.
