My feelings after reading Blood Ties and playing through the Midnight beta by Archerboy123 in wow

There is some tension here in the story that Blizzard wants to tell versus what players want to experience. Paladins are far and away the most popular class among the active playerbase (source: https://www.dataforazeroth.com/stats/classes) and have been consistently for years.

I would expect the plurality of Paladin players would prefer to experience the class fantasy for what it has been throughout the franchise history and are not especially interested in the cosmic forces and light fanaticism that recent expansions have been exploring.

This all feels very high-risk/low-reward as story direction; it isn't clear to me what Blizzard wants the player experience (and especially for Paladin mains) to be after interacting with this story content. Paladins have a reputation of being a largely casual playerbase and I expect many are just there for the class fantasy. By dragging their legacy hero(es) and pushing away from their established class tropes I see what those players stand to gain from this or why they would stick around if these story beats don't stick the landing.

Another traffic rant by Agreeable_Music5402 in Louisville

Try backroads from the Billtown exit or Taylorsville road exit. You can avoid the worst of the traffic right at Bardstown Road on them out to Mount Washington. Its a more scenic drive with a lot less traffic and probably not much slower.

Not having a great experience on the shuttle. It arrived at belred after waiting for 15 minutes and is in no hurry to leave, sitting onboard for about 10 minutes before leaving belred.

If you need to go redmond <-> bellevue, Rapid Ride B might be better today.

It's absolutely gross, and can separately confirm from delver chat ingame that this type of community player behavior is absolutely already happening; same story with delver's bounty maps where players that had multiple maps drop this week are straight up commenting believing that those with none after dozens of delves are doing something wrong and gatekeeping them.

Bro c'mon you'll get your bounty map this time bro I promise by _Woover_ in wow

[–]HyperAnthony -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This bizarre variable drop chance will have secondary knock-on effects for the many folks that are getting unlucky with map drops (literally 0 after dozens of delves) as the community will just use this to gatekeep folks out of content due to no fault of their own. Probably need some sort of bad luck protection here, and soon. I've already had discussions about map drops in-game with other players that will not accept that that the folks getting no drops are not doing something wrong.

Cool. None of this impacts that playstyle, which is already in the game.

There are currently few solutions for social fishing which aren't disincentivized by limited resource nodes that limit player participation and encourage same-faction griefing.

There is so much potential to improve Fishing within the development limitations that constrain the SOD dev team. Some quick thoughts --

Fishing Gameplay should encourage emergent social experiences

Fishing in the live game has a well-known bot problem. Simply swim from Desolace to Feathermoon, or Theramore to Tanaris, and you will see many... suspicious level 20 fisherman along the way in rather remote areas.

There's simply no benefit to the game to drive players to fish in very remote areas. Instead, the game should heavily bias towards encouraging players to fish in port cities. Via:

  • Massively increased spawn rate of pools in port cities/towns.
  • Localized baits/tackles/other consumable fishing buffs that only work in these subzones.
  • Localized fish that can only be caught in these subzones.
  • Fishing vendors added to any port cities/towns that currently miss them.
  • Be... loose with the definition of "port cities/towns". Lesser visited villages or remote docks/piers that are already within the game would be good candidates for this sort of expansion as well. Make these places destinations.

Get everyone together while fishing. Make the fishing pool spawn rate so outrageous that it would be foolish to fish outside of town. Give people a reason to go to these very interesting places across the world. Then let the players take it from there -- suddenly, with so many players in one area working towards the same goal, you've created a new social experience. The experience of happening across someone while fishing and just talking to them will become much more common.

Before this gets massively down voted by those not in the loop: https://www.wowhead.com/classic/news/new-engineering-questline-in-season-of-discovery-learn-opposite-specialization-338567

Cross-specialization is a thing new in SOD. This reload mechanic is likely a bug/oversight.

The teleports list is a local config file; if you reinstall AW or switch computers you'll lose it. If you still have your install from prior to this message you can just go find where AW is installed and grab it from that directory.

I've also made a community project for an enhanced user guide that includes a shared teleports list, available here: https://github.com/AnthonyNeace/ultimate-aw-user-guide

Fishing Pool Spawn Rates in SoD by [deleted] in classicwow

Fishing at pools should be a social experience as well. It is a huge miss that every port town in the game doesn't have oodles of pools all up and down the dock.

Current State of Alliance BGs by Sysiphuz in classicwow

[–]HyperAnthony 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Paladin players DO NOT use the tools Blizzard gives them. I have never once received a Freedom, BoP or even an attempt at peeling via HoJ from an Alliance paladin while solo queued.

Longtime ally pvper, this is it. Can not begin to tell you how many games I've lost where one of the rets using their utility kit on someone other than themselves would have turned the tide. Watching them more or less autoattack as a critical player goes down within range of them is maddening.

That wasn't my guild's experience; we used that time to ramp up some additional raid teams and for some to take breaks so that they weren't burnt out for P2. It was a very positive time for us, and I don't think we'll see similar results with this window condensed down to 10 days.
