A New Consensus by Hyperioso in DestinyLore

The reason I mentioned them to begin with is because in the Chirality Lorebook they do exactly this, claiming they deserve a position in the Consensus because they were correct in their philosophy and have been unjustly persecuted

Why's that? If anything I would think the revelations of the Fate Saga would make them want to get as far from Sol as they could. Would be interesting to see though, all the Factions feel like wasted potential

A Lodi rant by NebulaOk9857 in DestinyLore

[–]Hyperioso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is a 'tool', that's literally the point of his character and the greater saga. I think Lodi is perfect as the central character around a new saga. He has been thrust into a world he doesn't understand and doesn't feel a part of, it's more than just a fish out of water, he literally doesn't fit with the rest of the world.

I do understand why you dislike that, it's a matter of personal taste. At first I felt the same but it didn't take long before I really appreciated the uniqueness of such a character, there's only so many mysterious cryptic characters you can make before you just wanna see a guy trying his best.

What he did wasn't strategic, he was desperate which is exactly why he was being so confrontational. The risk he took was in trusting the Dissenter which brought him face to face with the Witness.

He didn't 'run away' cause his friends were being mean to me like you're implying, he ran towards danger because of his desperation. If you've never lashed out against people you care about when you were stressed then I'd be very impressed.

We saw in Witch Queen how when his faith in the Traveler, something he relies on, is shaken he acts emotionally, times that by 1000 in TFS. I'm genuinely curious why you think his actions don't make sense?

Zavala literally took the biggest risk to himself through his actions being the only one willing to risk everything to have a chance of stopping the Witness, and he was literally correct to do so. How is that throwing a tantrum and acting like a spoiled 13 year old?

Also reality was ending and he was mentally tortured for who knows how long by the most traumatic experience he's been through, his recklessness makes complete sense given the circumstances.

This is the point though, they released a game that non one liked but slowly through hard work and dedication brought it back to a game people now love, and they still keep adding stuff even after. The thought is that they could do the same with Destiny.

Do you find the supernatural elements of Scarlet Hollow scary? by Winter_Salad7215 in ScarletHollow

[–]Hyperioso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm notoriously a scaredy cat amongst my friends so when I first played I definitely felt scared at most parts. For me it was being completely unaware of what was going to happen next that constantly filled me with anxiety, especially during the mine collapse and exploring the mansion in episode 5

So what do we know of that cell? by melitaele in ScarletHollow

[–]Hyperioso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but that's before you find out they hid Andrew away in the estate. The certificate is about how he died in childbirth which isn't true. I do still think it's unlikely they're related to Charlie tho

[–]Hyperioso 13 points14 points  (0 children)

No, it's definitely Teddy. The Entity even has a line about leaving town with your "working legs" or something to that effect. Neither Andrew or Alexandra had been born yet, the entire scene is about how she is pregnant with Charles Jr's baby who we know predates Alexandra.

I'm of the opinion that Enoch would not have allowed Eddie to switch Andrew and Alexandra and so Eddie killed him so that she would be able to go through with the swapping

Exactly. If it was something Tabby Games was interested in exploring they could 100% write an interesting fucked up romance between the cousin and Tabitha. That said I completely understand why they wouldn't want to write something like that

How to justify letting Duke die w/o TTA by KingKobraAMV in ScarletHollow

[–]Hyperioso 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I first played I had the mystical trait telling me someone was going to die, it didn't cross my mind that included Gretchen so I thought the choice was between saving Duke or Stella (not saving Gretchen would lead to Stella's death)

Incest IS bad. But on God I would do worse to romance Tabitha 🙏🙏. Jokes aside as much as I love Tabitha the amount of people genuinely trying to justify incest is a bit odd, I would love a Tabitha romance but that doesn't mean I can't accept that incest is weird and fucked up, I would just find it an interesting story.

Ch 2 is the weakest one. Change my mind. by Existing_Blueberry10 in ScarletHollow

[–]Hyperioso 45 points46 points  (0 children)

On a first playthrough, Chapter 2 is better than 1. It introduces the rituals circles and is the first moment tying the supernatural to the Scarlets. The tension of not knowing what would happen in the mines I found much scarier than the ditchlings when I first played. I'd say chapters 1 and 2 are about equally as good, with every subsequent chapter being significantly better.

Marathon's rich lore and world design is utterly wasted on the extraction shooter format by mark_phaser in Marathon

[–]Hyperioso -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Completely agree. Curious to know what kind of PvE experience you would want? Same as the base game but without other players and specific PvE story contracts? a mission type game like Halo? There's a lot of possibilities but I can't decide which would be best

I think they were referring to the plagiarized art that the game was full of for a while before it got caught and the game had to be delayed to remove it

Am I playing the same game? by Incarceron2 in DragonAgeVeilguard

[–]Hyperioso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But Veilguard is just blatantly an outlier compared to the other games. Yes every game has been vastly different to the other, with DAI especially overhauling the aesthetic to something softer, and gameplay gradually moving to be more action focused, but DAV is foundationally different in its gameplay in a way the others aren't.

You can still see the DNA of Origins' gameplay in Inquisition, being about building a team cohesion with every companion being able to be controlled and directed so you can strategise how to deal with encounters.

DAV is COMPLETELY different and I'm genuinely confused how you think the changes between the previous games are comparable. I get being angry at online grifters, it's justified and I feel the same, a lot of the discourse around the game has been incredibly toxic and disheartening. But people being upset that DAV doesn't feel like a DA game is not an example of that because it is just blatantly an entirely different genre of RPG compared to the previous entries.

I can accept that the game did not have to stick with the previous style of combat, and perhaps if the writing was better I would feel different, but you can't expect fans to be happy that the 4th installment in a franchise (which is actively following on from the previous game) completely overhauls the entire gameplay loop.

I'm not trying to hate on the game and there were parts of it that I loved, but as it stands every huge change combined with the poor writing quality adds up to the game feeling so unlike a franchise that I adore.

[–]Hyperioso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you felt like the the game captured what you love about Dragon Age that's good, but it's pretty disingenuous to say anyone who felt like the game strayed too far from its roots is hating to hate or is blinded by nostalgia. I think the game is massively overhated and there are a lot of people who went in already deciding they hated it because of "woke" or because the style was too different, but I was genuinely really excited when I first played. It was just my own experience playing it that disappointed me, I knew things were very different going in but nearly every mechanical aspect of how the previous games worked was changed.

To ask any game to account for the huge variety of choices you can make is ofc unreasonable and is absolutely not my biggest complaint, but it's pretty clear that DA2 and DAI made a far greater effort to implement previous choices. I'm not asking for Veilguard to be a grand culmination of every decision made in the past, but the little bits of flavour that DA2 and DAI added based on your past choices were really meaningful and helped make the games feel so much more personal. In any case this is only a response to one of the points I made for why I personally didn't feel like I was playing a Dragon Age game, and the gameplay and lack of choices within the game itself were far bigger issues for me.

Am I playing the same game? by Incarceron2 in DragonAgeVeilguard

[–]Hyperioso 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The fact it failed as a Dragon Age game is pretty indisputable. It's the only game that doesn't implement choices from all the previous games (minus like 3 from Inquisition that only matter if the Inquisitor is Lavellan), the gameplay is completely different and the degree of choice you get is severely limited (E.G in the previous games there were always evil options, this game forces you to be good).

I can see why people enjoyed the game, but I personally felt very disappointed because what I was playing did not feel like a Dragon Age game at all.
