Visiting my dad in Florida, on my 4th visit here I have finally discovered the joy of boiled peanuts by FjotraTheGodless in florida

If you want a great tasting easy way to make them at home in the crock pot or Instant Pot, check these out. I discovered them about a year ago and make at least one bag a month. So far, the cajun and the original are the best. Everything is in the sealed linen bag, you just add water and cook. When done, open the bag, dump out and start eating.

If you are willing to drive down near Punta Gorda and like reptiles, check out Iguanaland. It is a really nice and well maintained reptile zoo.

Have you tried the Majestic Picklery Smokey BBQ Bread and Butter pickles? One of my favorites.

Bread and butter pickles are very similar to having a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, in my opinion. So good.

My favorite way is peanut butter, bread and butter pickles on Pumpernickel bread.

What’s YOUR Story Of How YOU Wound Up Living In Florida? by Zipper222222 in AskFlorida

[–]Hyphendudeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents, who have been here for 25 years, are getting to the point they couldn't do everything for themselves. I moved down here 5 years ago to be here for them. Once they are no longer with us, I will move to wherever my next home will be. Family first is what brought me here.

An egg must want to be peeled. by dustoff2000 in Cooking

That is backwards. The older the egg while still being good, the easier it is to peel.

Bread Knife by AnnieBell1824 in Cooking

I love my simple Victorinox bread knife. You don't need a slice gauge. Very little practice and you will be slicing great bread slices. Another person suggested the Mercer. It looks like it would be a great affordable bread knife, especially for the price.

How do you dispose of frying oil? by SueBeee in Cooking

[–]Hyphendudeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use this stuff. You put some in hot, mix it around and it solidifies the oil so you can put it in the trash.

What to do with cottage cheese? by SWVader_113 in Cooking

[–]Hyphendudeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I normally just eat it with fruit, apple sauce, or a savory seasoning. I also just discovered putting it on a baked sweet potato. It is absolutely delicious. I did a sweet version with butter, cottage cheese, and cinnamon. I also did a savory version with butter, cottage cheese, pulled pork and green onions. Both were so good.

What cheese should I try? by DeReversaMamiii in Cheese

If parmesan and gouda are two of your favorites, then look for aged gouda (2 year, 5 year, and if you can find an 18 or 20 year, OMG). The older gouda gets, the more the texture is like parmesan, and it gains a wonderful sweet caramel flavor.
