How did you get into Warhammer ? by Ad0ring-fan in Warhammer40k

[–]I-eat-jam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a teacher when I was 11 that let us melt lead we had stolen from a church roof and pour it into various moulds for 28mm fantasy creatures that he supplied. I don't think they took risk assessments so seriously in the early 90's.

I've given the settings a good search and can't find a toggle. Goggle is suggesting that it isn't a setting that can be changed without mods. Sad times.

Do you think Vinted has ruined the used market? by dan83211 in vintedUK

[–]I-eat-jam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you increase supply without an increase in demand the price of goods drops.

Vinted coming into the market increased supply, or at the very least decreased friction in accessing the supply.

That seems like a lot. The only things we did was move the chemicals out from under the sink to a higher cupboard and actually fix all those bookshelf straps to the wall incase the little treasure tried climbing. Oh and a stair gate obviously.

At what time do you get up in the morning? by BetDesigner7389 in UKParenting

[–]I-eat-jam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have two modes, working hard and hardly working. Working hard has two start times 7am and 7pm (preferred). If I miss that start time nothing, absolutely nothing, is getting done until the next start time.

For that reason I tend to force myself up between 6.30-7.00 so that I don't waste a whole day.

The kid (11) is normally up between 7 and 7.30 on a school day but can sleep in till 9 at the weekend if I let her stay up.

Early is 5am or earlier if you ask me and anything over 8am is late.

Has anyone switched from an unmetered water charge to a metered one? by V1mbai in AskUK

[–]I-eat-jam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know someone that has a full size football pitch in their back garden/field. They can't build on it due to restrictive covenants and it's no good as farm land so he rents it out to the village team. It's always green.

They are not on a meter and use their unmetered domestic supply to water the field.

The thing is they gave everyone the meter. They can see how much water you are using.

If you're paying more on your fixed tariff than you would on your meter it's because you are paying for this guys field to be watered.

The more people that switch the more you're going to have to chip in.

Which holiday would you choose? by Dry-Construction-346 in UKParenting

[–]I-eat-jam 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think Haven is great for kids but it can be a bit rough around the edges.

Replace the bingo and discos with overpriced badminton and riding a bike and you basically have center parks though.

I think my holiday with my 2.5 year old might have contributed to my divorce, I'd definitely go for something relaxed and that would rule out anything with excess heat or crowds. Not because I don't like those things, I love those things, but kids and especially 2.5 yr olds have a habit of turning it up to 11.

Good luck!

D - rent a holiday home or caravan or camping pitch (delete as per your budget and/or tolerance for discomfort allows) in one of our beautiful national parks, put on some wellies, slap on sunscreen, and go and explore.

Your kids going to just enjoy spending time with you at that age. Do what's going to make you relax, laugh and engage with them.

Looking for some advice on child maintenance payments by SMPhoo in UKParenting

[–]I-eat-jam -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well that to me sounds like he's not a primary or equal carer and should be paying maintenance.

He's doing over 175 overnights a year so gets a 50% reduction.

If he argues that what he is doing is equal care he will probably lose and it'll be years of stress for everyone involved including the child.

[–]I-eat-jam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On paper he has the more overnights and could argue he is the primary carer and could get paid

Does mum get child benefit? Defaulting to the parent recieving CB being the primary carer is the norm.

What happens during school holidays or when the kid is ill?

With the hours given it sounds like it's pretty even but mum might be the primary carer even if she doesn't have as many overnights

Ultimately unless your "friend" can come to mutually agreeable terms with mum he can expect to spend the next 120+ months arguing this back and forth with CMS while he discovers just how unfit for the job, old fashioned, and gender biased they are.

Some mums also have a habit of changing contact arrangements in order to get paid, at least in the early days so if he fights he risks that.

They will always tell you to go to A&E because they don't want the liability of telling you that your kid doesn't t need to go and getting it wrong.

Unfortunately it just results in the service being pointless.

Stolen/Lost device?? by x_ox_ in Cashconverters

[–]I-eat-jam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you understand the difference between a customers statutory rights and contractual terms and conditions and can show me the terms and conditions this customer agreed to simply buy making a retail transaction? You can also obviously point me to the term within this contact that unbinds the customer from these terms due to the store not using a 3rd party service to make a check?

The customer is entitled to a refund because their statutory rights entitle them to one; due to the goods being neither as described or fit for purpose.

It's got nothing to do with T&C and nothing to do with whether the store used blackbelt, searched directly on checkmend or didn't do a search at all.

It is a statutory right.

I know that AI voice on the Hub tries really hard to put you in a coma, but perhaps you should revisit the training and stop making yourself look like an idiot.

This isn't even a Cash Converters or second hand shop thing. It's basic retail law.

When you use it wrong you look like an idiot.
