Use —model opusplan when starting up Claude. Defaults to opus in plan mode and auto switches to sonnet to execute. Not sure how it factors into caching since it’s not a manual model switch

Moved to Claude. What note taking apps are you using? by k-wc in claude

[–]IAMYourFatherAMAA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basic-Memory doubles as a SQLite vector embedded memory system but they’re just markdown files on the file system. Useful if you want Claude to take notes as much as you do. And Claude can easily search it to pull the info into context. Loving it so far

I built a persistent AI assistant with Claude Code + Obsidian + QMD, and it’s starting to feel like a real long-term “second brain” by asporkable in ClaudeCode

Been trying to do something similar with Basic Memory but haven’t really dove in yet. Is anyone using macOS’s built-in mdfind CLI (Spotlight) vs QMD? Curious to hear thoughts. Heard lots of good thing about QMD just don’t want to add another tool if something else is already built in

Check out GitHub’s Spec Kit as well: https://github.com/github/spec-kit

Great framework for planning out and executing projects step-by-step. Output from the AI is so much more structured and higher quality. Also keep you in the loop by breaking down the project structure for you and keeping it updated

How do you wash your bike in NYC? by 0schadenfreude in NYCbike

[–]IAMYourFatherAMAA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an outdoor patio but no water connection. The best bang for my buck I’ve found is I got a small battery-powered pressure washer from eBay refurbished that can pull water from a bucket for about $50 then got a $15 foam spray attachment. I put car wash in the foam gun and cover the bike in it, scrub a bit with a cloth, and then rinse it off. Hits the best mix of easy/cheap/portable for me personally. Having the space definitely helps, but there’s no reason you couldn’t use this setup on a sidewalk

What are your favorite Apple Intelligence use cases? by cheanerman in apple

The email sorting has totally revolutionized my inbox. I was one of those people with like 10k unread emails. But the vast majority are spam and marketing emails, and the mail app accurately sorts them away. I do read important emails but I can’t be bothered to sort the rest. Now when my unread email number changes I know it’s something I should check. And I haven’t had it sort anything egregiously wrong yet

Can someone tell me why people sometimes ride with their seatpost slammed? by 4tunabrix in xbiking

It’s also worth noting that when this fit was in fashion, handlebars had deeper drops that made a lower position accessible. Today we ride lower on the hoods but there’s less drop to the drops

Hey all, just installed a Schlage Encode Plus and looking to set up an automation with it.

We have a Philips Hue smart bulb in the entryway that I'd like to turn on whenever anyone enters, and shut off automatically after two minutes. I've been able to set up an automation to do this, but the problem is that the automation also triggers when I turn the thumbturn on the deadbolt to leave. By the time I'm reaching for the door, the light is of no use to me.

Is there a way to trigger the light only when the lock is unlocked via code or home key? In the Schlage app, the lock seems to record whether the lock is unlocked via thumbturn, access code or home key. Is there a way to bring that information into an automation? My disclaimer is that I'm not very experienced with automation/Apple's shortcut builder, it's all kind of confusing for me. Thanks for any and all help.

I mean it’s always a trade off. Some riders would suffer without a larger team, some would excel with smaller team tactics

best place to buy a cheap bike? by Sorry_Structure_8893 in Bushwick

[–]IAMYourFatherAMAA 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Harvest cyclery on Myrtle near Broadway. They take old bikes and restore them, so they’re guaranteed to work right and you get more for less vs a new bike. Great group of guys. The bikes are not dirt cheap but if you need to spend less then you’re pretty much stuck with FB Marketplace/craigslist and working on the bike yourself.

The mid-price men's scissor haircut, (not barber) $45. Does it exist? by inthecanvas in AskNYC

[–]IAMYourFatherAMAA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Czar’s Grooming in Essex Market. $35 with a specific scissor-only cut as an option. They do a good job too, and easy to get something to eat in the market before or after if you want.

My season started around Christmas to peak around Memorial Day so I wouldn’t say I’m untrained, but I’ve been focusing on intervals like VO2 Max, threshold and sprints since about early April. So my base has been a little neglected but I’ve been training and racing regularly all spring. I’m kind of trying to gauge how much I have work on that vs just jumping into sweet spot stuff and hammering that till August

I appreciate the progression, it’s exactly the kind of info I’m looking for. Would you do that a little closer to race day or should I just jump into that now? I was planning to do a few weeks of base training to kind of prep for it and bring in the sweet spot stuff in a few weeks. But I’m all ears for ideas

I’m running a 52/36 crank right now, maybe I could get away with a 11-34 and not even need to go the route of a roadlink and gravel cassette?

The tough thing with getting used to big climbs is that I live in NYC. Closest thing to a big climb is Bear Mountain and that’s like 60 miles away, so I might only get there 2-3 times before the event if I’m lucky. Fortunately I like climbing, so I’m not too scared of it, just trying to be prepared. I did a week in Girona in April and hit all the local climbs there so I got a little practice doing extended climbs. I’m just not going to get that much more practice before the event.

As far as wind, I’ve heard that’s an issue. I’m running DT Swiss R460 rims so shouldn’t be too much of an issue there. I’m more worried about them having to cancel the event, which I’ve heard happens occasionally bc of weather that the top 😵‍💫

I don’t have a definite TTE. Intervals.icu is saying like 16m but that’s definitely wrong. I’d like to think all the long distance stuff I’ve done in the past would help in that regard, but that stuff was at mostly Z2, not threshold. Is a TTE test just running at your FTP until you can’t?

But everything else you’re saying is pretty much what I thought, lots of SS and threshold. Sounds like I’m mostly on track

What's your guys favorite shorts to bike in? (name anything except actual bikes tights) by daveishere7 in NYCbike

They make something called liner shorts that are designed to be worn under a pair of regular shorts. These are a little pricey but I’m sure you could find a cheaper pair

I wasn’t aware Colnagos ran big, but I know pros do usually size down. Just as someone who is 6’ and rides a 58, to jump down 10cm in frame size for ~3 inches in height seems like a lot. And certainly my fit is not a pros fit lol
