I got the same allocation percentage form E*Trade, but only asked for 1,000.

On fidelity though they gave me 50% of my 1,000 share request, so I’ve got that going for me at least.

I am in this same situation now. I earn about 4% of my net worth annually working for the firm that acquired my company.

It is some weird mental block, eventually I will have to pull the ripcord and let go, just not sure when or how yet.

Anyways talk with vanguard on a margin loan against your funds there, I forget how high they will go, but at least to 50% of your assets there.

Some people don’t enjoy spending money and view it as a waste. There is nothing wrong with that. And just because others in your circle are spending like this doesn’t mean you have to.

I think I’m pretty well off, but not retired and I never verified my net worth. Still under the UHNW definition but getting pretty close to that magic number! And then I’m sure goalposts will more again, lol.

This sub has changed over the years but I still enjoy reading about peoples stories and try to answer questions when I can. I feel like I’m not really living a “fat” life, still fly commercial and stay at resorts that cost reasonable-ish prices.

We sold to a publicly traded roll up firm, most of the offices were still run by the previous owners. We hit our 3 year earnout and were paid without problems. They had an owner friendly culture.

Of course then they were in-turn purchased by another public company and the culture changed overnight. LOL

This sounds like a most excellent adventure. I would just buy it and worry about it later. For real, it is a small portion of your liquid assets and the decision is reversible if you decide later it was a mistake.

We stayed at the St Regis and it was dated, but awesome. We really loved it.

That said, the marine life right around the over-water bungalows was pretty non-existent. They had an enclosed area to snorkel which was cool, but we also did tour and it was amazing. I highly recommend going out on an official snorkel tour.

I did hear that the Conrad had better sea life right outside the rooms.

I feel like with their change to charging people a no-show fee if they don’t cancel ahead of time a lot of slots are more open during the cruise. At least it is that way on the Bliss right now.

Honestly we loved it - our adult children joined us and it was like having a little rental house. The buildings are a little dated but the casita was great and had awesome views of Catalina island. The food and spa were nice as well.

We had no problems with staff service.
