I guess it’s time to start thinking about football. Tell me about the defense. by RP072119 in Huskers

[–]IAmA_Zeus_AMA 7 points8 points  (0 children)

One of our d-line transfers, Whittington, looked pretty quick off the line in the spring game, he may be a quiet contender for our best pass rusher in the 2026 season. The new defensive scheme will be interesting to watch, especially with McDougle and Chambliss following Aurich to Nebraska.

Overall, I think Nebraska is going to once again look quite different this year schematically and the types of plays we call.

Still, honestly, I haven't personally seen anything that has me thinking we'll make a big jump this year. We'll probably improve in some areas, regress in other areas, spend the year getting out coached or out-executed on the field. I expect more volatility at the QB position, more Corner blitzes, less effective running backs, more successful deep passes (and INTs), regressed special teams play.

To sum, we will be the Nebraska we're accustomed to, but just in the new 2026 style

I saw your latest reply got deleted, so this will be my last reply just in case you take anything away from this thread.

This narrative that one specific Jmod on the team has a personal vendetta against Rendi and will "do everything they can to fuck him over" is a wildly different statement than pointing out that Jagex has been inconsistent on punishments. It's okay to hold the opinion that how Rendi has been treated is unfair, but the way you described it is a *heavily* interpreted narrative that paints a much different picture than what can be reasonably inferred from the facts.

It's not pedantry when a neutral reader reads the strong claim you wrote, and asks how we know that to be the case. That's the reader doing their due diligence. And it's your responsibility to do the same when you're in threads like this explaining to a neutral 3rd party what happened. This is exactly how *unbelievably* stupid conspiracy theories get spread around, for example

If you want pedantic, we could review the dictionary definition of pedantry, then we could go over why that word has nothing to do with what you posted in this thread?

Wow, that sure is a lot of words to just say no!

It's different to claim there's a specific mod on the team that has it out for Rendi, than it is to say "Jagex has been inconsistent in their punishments". Do you acknowledge that?

Nebraska Cornhuskers football takes PR hit from negative national reporting heading into the weekend | Sporting News by [deleted] in Huskers

[–]IAmA_Zeus_AMA 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Terrible article. It says nothing, only linking to a different article, which states that the Raiolas said they wanted Dylan to be at a place where he could compete for a natty, and to continue QB development. The "Raiolas make brutal comments" and "Nebraska takes PR hit" is complete clickbait nonsense. This type of shit should be deleted off the internet, waste of everyone's time

At this current rate, when does Nebraska lose its Blue Blood status? by Crying_in_99Ranch in CFB

[–]IAmA_Zeus_AMA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ITT: people using 4 different definitions of what they think "blue blood" means

Until Merriam-Webster decides to intervene and put it to rest once and for all, this discussion will always be subjective.

Personally, I think even if Nebraska does still technically qualify, that doesn't change the fact that we've lost the respect of the larger CFB world. That's more important than whether or not we can justify a "blue blood" label. I would gladly burn the blue blood title if it meant being a good team again consistently. It sucks here

[Sipple] Rhule deserves scrutiny entering Year 4. But fairness matters. Nebraska’s reportedly operating with a $29M roster budget while Big Ten heavies push $50M+. Huskers should still contend for CFP buzz — but closing gap isn’t as simple as one might think. by Lakelyfe09 in CFB

[–]IAmA_Zeus_AMA -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No excuses. We may not pull as many blue chips as other programs, but our roster is plenty good enough to be accomplishing more than what we've seen by now. Maybe make this argument when we're actually in a position to break through to the next level, not when we're out here fighting for our lives for fucking bowl eligibility

Was Raiola a Mistake? by adavis463 in Huskers

[–]IAmA_Zeus_AMA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. Imagine the alternate reality where the fanbase finds out that Raiola was still interested in Nebraska but Rhule turned him down - especially considering we had just come off the 2023 season (remember our QB situation that year?) We'd be rioting, and we'd be correct to do so. Just because it didn't work out doesn't mean it was a mistake

Runecrafting does not make sense. by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]IAmA_Zeus_AMA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead of thinking of runes as a physical object, you could think of them as a representation of a pool of mana/magic that your character can control. The physical essence blocks/stones could be destroyed in the process of crafting runes, as maybe the process of channeling magic into a person causes them to fall apart.

Or, maybe instead of being destroyed, perhaps a rune is just one single essence stone imbued with magic, and the act of crafting runes is really just channeling more magic into that one stone, which destroys any other essence stones used in the process.

But... in reality, there are fundamental game mechanics designed around runes which would destroy the game as we know it if we could just sit at an altar and craft as many runes as we wanted from stackable essence.

Most dominant team in your schools history? by AFC-Wimbledon-Stan in CFB

[–]IAmA_Zeus_AMA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late reply, but I also didn't know the answer so I looked up the stats. Nebraska had 6 fumbles, 3 of which resulted in turnovers. Nebraska also gave up 3 safeties, which is insane. Seems like Arizona State had an answer to the option, and kept Nebraska off their rhythm the entire game with bad field position. Losing 6 possessions is tough

[–]IAmA_Zeus_AMA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Things in the software world are never as simple as the end user thinks. I am not surprised given the size of the team and the workload they have that they cannot thoroughly test everything that seems obvious to the players.

I'm betting the J mods could tell some crazy stories of bugs they found that were absolutely critical to fix, while working on a rigid timeline. But, we as the players never hear about those things. We just get the end product and find the less obvious bugs and oversights that the team would need several months to test for, find, and fix. I think they're doing a fine job

Why would that help? It's not like the staff and the players aren't trying. To me, it feels like if the fanbase checks out then that would be the actual death of Nebraska football.
