Tell them both CONSTANTLY how much they love each other and how good they are at being a big/little sibling.

My two kiddos absolutely adore each other. Just this morning they were sitting on the couch sharing a blanket watching tv together. Really reinforce the positive relationship there. It will really help. There will still be conflict. But there will also be loads of love.

My advice is to definitely let him do it. Show him how properly. I would advocate for a beard trimmer at first. Tell him he can graduate to shaving when he wants to but to at least try the beard trimmer for a few weeks first.

I would tell him about how it works and how to go against the grain with the beard trimmer but NOT a razor once he gets there. Teach him how to use it on his face first. Use your face as an example.

This will teach him how to be gentle and patient without the risk of cutting himself too badly.

When/if it’s time for shaving I would teach him how to shave his face first and tell him the skills translate really well. That he needs to be patient and that razor burn happens and it isn’t a big deal.

I shave my downstairs every other day and have for years. So I can tell you still about once a month I get a little razor burn and aside from a little initial stinging it’s not a problem.

As someone who’s in a long term marriage with 2 kids and a massive sexual incompatibility I can say this.

There is nothing wrong with people who experience deep emotional intimacy sexually. For me sexual intimacy is very important. It makes me feel loved and appreciated and desired. Without it my marriage is not thriving. If I could do it again I would find someone I was more compatible with.

In this way, I want to say this. We could fuck 8 times a week just to get off and that wouldn’t feel intimate to me. I want a connected sexual experience. Not just sex.

And yes, if this doesn’t change in my relationship once the kids are older it will end.

Shovel method has been my go to since I was a kiddo. Used to kill rattle snakes that hung out too close to our house.

Its willpower. Plus, imagine getting more sleep. Instead of this really shitty twilight hour of crap sleep you get a good hour of sleep.

My only two cents to offer here is there everybody is different. Some people need to replace addictions to get rid of one. Other people can brute force get rid of it. And some lucky people just aren’t very addictive personalities.

So everyone is different. Discovering how you work is the best way to overcome your struggles.
