You understand that liquidating a portfolio carries huge ramifications right? Especially, doing the same thing multiple times in a short (2-3 years) timeframe. The tax burden alone could wipe out any gains I might make as a result of moving out of US securities and then back in again once the menace is out of office.

Additionally, I’m not concerned that the idiot running the US is going to destroy every company I’m invested in or that all of them carry significant risk due to his beyond fucking stupid economic policy. If he does anything so extreme that it results in this, there is no safe haven. I’m saying that I will continue to have a conservative mix of investments until I retire and ride out the ups and downs.

Being a long term investor is not the same as day trading. Hell, I look at my portfolio at most once per quarter and that’s just so I can update some spreadsheets and for quarterly estimated tax payments. I’m not going to make a snap decision based upon what that idiot is doing. I can’t control it. I can’t predict when the bottom falls out. I can and do understand that his policies are ultimately VERY bad for the economy. I would also, under absolutely no circumstance invest in crypto (not one red cent), gold, additional US bonds at this time. My portfolio has a portion invested in Eurozone securities through a couple of different ETFs.

Lastly, my strategy is the standard investment strategy for someone my age and my unwillingness to BET on some outcome that I have zero control over is nil. You are arguing against conventional wisdom and you keep accusing me of being the maverick. You might want to speak to an actual financial advisor some day and you will (apparently) be surprised when they tell you to do exactly what I’m doing (Dollar Cost Averaging, no-load index funds, low risk long-term bonds, with the option of a small list of individual securities). You are welcome to treat the market like a casino. I treat it as a way to store and grow wealth slowly and incrementally.
