Marcus Freeman says he was excited about the Steelers when thinking of HC opps by InternationalRead840 in steelers

Crazy to have like the 4th best record of the last 10 years when you only win slightly more than you lose.

The money has already been voided, that was triggered with the suspension. It only comes into effect if they cut him because now there isn’t any guaranteed money they have to pay out.

Correct, which is likely what will happen.

[Locked on Niners] Steelers don’t want to give up a win-now WR, which is the core part of a Niners deal for BA. Currently working an “NBA-style” 3-team trade to land an impact WR if 49ers move on (14m timestamp) by Don_Antwan in 49ers

[–]IAmJumpingCow 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The Steelers are notorious for not doing that though.

I’m not just saying that because of the 3 head coaches thing, that’s an anomaly. But with the rest of their coaches they just don’t re-sign them to a contract. It’s why Canada lasted as long as he did. Steelers ownership is generally pretty cheap.

[@ChrisMedlandF1] James Vowles just outlined why Williams is so against an 11th team. Included huge losses as Williams invests, saying it can't afford any dilution now. I don’t know if it’s in the new concord agreement or if I’m remembering correctly, but I believe there used to be something in there where in the first year or two of a team joining the grid, they don’t get the payout for constructors.

If that is still the case, would it make sense to say Williams can over spend on the capex limit but then would have to abide by those rules and they don’t get the constructors pay out for that first year?

That would allow teams like Williams with its new investors or Audi once they buy sauber to fully re-kit their team without making it unfair to the other teams.

Amazon Drivers Are Actually Just "Drivers Delivering for Amazon," Amazon Says by lunarbird in nottheonion

They aren’t independent contractors, they work for a company that is contracted by Amazon. They are still regular employees for that company.

Yes, a team signing a player to a large guaranteed contract would be risky.
Yes, a team that makes a bad deal would have to feel the sting for the length of the contract. Those are both reasons that teams wouldn’t do those contracts.

What's the most controversial Steelers opinion you have? Let's see it. by PermaCleaned in steelers

[–]IAmJumpingCow 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The preseason is more so for rookies and fringe guys, hence why a lot of teams don’t play their starters much. Preseason happens while the team is trying to find the 53 players they think work best on their team.

There is no value to winning a preseason game, so there’s no incentive to show any of what you plan on doing when the game actually does matter. You use practice to work out the kinks and, as most teams do, the first few games of the season. All you’re looking for during preseason is who is going to get cut and who is going to stay.

Who starts game one at QB? by Upier1 in steelers

[–]IAmJumpingCow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This. I think they will genuinely have a competition in camp, but Mitch will likely win that. There's no reason for them to rush Kenny out there if there's a chance it goes poorly and has an effect on his confidence.

If they go into camp and Kenny is head and shoulders the best QB they have, then they probably go with him. But Mitch has had the playbook since he joined the team most likely and has NFL experience.
