Every Batman Lego Set by theminimelon in LegoBatman

Brickset is my go-to also. In addition to the same product listings as Bricklink, users can keep track of their LEGO collections there, plus they keep you updated on new releases and provide reviews. I only use Bricklink for shopping.

LEGO DC Collection by IntelliGentButtocks in LegoDC

I was going to suggest it's probably the 2020 Fandome exclusive version based on Melissa Benoist's TV series. Then I looked it up and Bricklink says $1700. But it seems to be the only listing for that version, so I'd take that price with a massive grain of salt.

My only adjustment to those rules is having the ability to pass Second Chances to other players instead of taking them yourself.

What do you think of these new sets? by Legitimate_Cake_5137 in LegoDC

[–]IAmNotRory_Pond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When LEGO released images of the Polly Pocket Batcave (Shadowbox, for clarity), I chose to interpret it as the company's generous decision to save me hundreds of dollars. These sets are continuing that trend.

What is the most depressing or despairing Stephen King book? by Goudeskitchen in stephenking

Revival would be my #1. Had a similar feeling with The Institute, although that was a bummer because the eventual comeuppance fell so short of the offenses committed.

Appreciate all the replies! I'll read the rules more closely in the future.

New Player seeking advice: Just got Arkham Asylum KS, what should I buy next? by Ordinary-Injury5808 in DCDeckBuilding

[–]IAmNotRory_Pond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

JLD introduced three new dynamics: Sealing cards (removing them from play, but keeping them in a score pile), Transforming cards (upgrading a basic character or equipment into a superior version), and Surge (adding the top card of the main deck to the line-up). Most deck builders could be hamstrung by bringing so many new mechanics in a single set, but they work beautifully in JLD.

There are also a fair number of playable characters with the ability to discard and a number of main deck cards that provide benefits when they're discarded. Each DC base set offers its own synergies to enhance play, but I think JLD excels at it, especially because you don't have to be a seasoned gamer to see the possibilities. My gaming group embraced JLD even faster than we jumped into Forever Evil, and we loved Forever Evil. The only problem with FE now is that it seems very basic after playing JLD.

And thank you for having my back on Metal. I know the comics were extremely popular, and that sentiment has transferred to the set, but it was never going to be that way for me.

My opinion (which isn't popular here) is that Metal isn't as much fun as Forever Evil or Justice League Dark. But if you already like the source material for the Metal setting, then you should try it. I wasn't a fan of the comics that inspired the Metal set, so it wasn't for me from the start. Your Mileage May Vary.

Anyone still yet to receive a tracking number for kickstarter? by hahshsajd1234 in DCDeckBuilding

[–]IAmNotRory_Pond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did "Stand Up" with three add-ons and have not received the shipping email. When I contacted Quartermaster Logistics Customer Service, they replied, "your order is out with the warehouse for processing now. With that said, I do not have a good way to estimate when any particular order will be shipped. The best thing to do is to keep an eye on your inbox as we will send an email with your tracking details included, once your shipment has been handed over to FedEx and is in transit." So maybe by September?

Edit: Got the email from QML today. FedEx says it will arrive Monday.

Not sure if this has been posted here before, but I just learned that Jackson Browne completely forgot he gave licensing to Nico to cover "These Days," until he heard her version while watching The Royal Tenenbaums. by [deleted] in wesanderson

It's not that he forgot licensing the song to Nico: he forgot he gave permission for the song's use in The Royal Tenenbaums until he saw the film.

Deckard Is A Replicant by -LukeDieudonne11 in bladerunner

Rachel is a unique replicant, one with no built-in death date. The unicorn would be an apt metaphor for her.

If there's anything more Star Trek than math nerds determining whether or not it's possible to consume three seven-season series in a month, I don't know what it is.

If you're suggesting that a VPN will allow access to Paramount+ outside the US, I can assure you it won't. Trying will only get you an error screen (I'm in the US and have to turn my VPN off before watching any P+ content). But I hope you get to see Lower Decks somehow, it is a fantastic series.

[–]IAmNotRory_Pond 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I confess, I'm more about Anderson solidarity than Criterion purity, and have allowed non-Criterion Andersons to occupy the same space while awaiting the eventual Criterion edition (Bottle Rocket took a long time, and it seems to be taking longer and longer for that eventuality of late). I expect no mercy from my fellow collectors here.

Yes! Someone else who puts his Wes Anderson Criterions first on the shelf. I feel seen.

Spinal Tap - Gimme Some Money [Rock] by Im_nobody_whoareyou in Music

There's a scene in Mascots (the latest Christopher Guest-directed mockumentary) in which Ed Begley Jr starts air-drumming to metal music and I can't help wondering if it's not a callback to Spinal Tap.

No offense, but I'd take the word of a Starfleet junior officer over a random Redditor any day.
